  1. That's what we do here in Davis with the A's and Giants stories because we're too small of a paper to have actual beat reporters for those teams. We don't have a beat reporter for the Kings either but try to cover most of the games. The same goes for the Sacramento River Cats.
  2. One error does not lose a playoff series. You don't think there's a very good chance we would have been in the WS if he had simply turned that double play? There is no way Gonzalez could have turned a double play there. The ball was hit in the hole and it wasn't hit extremely hard meaning it would have taken an extremely slow runner and even then he might not have turned it. He was only getting one out on that play even if he fields the ball cleanly.
  3. Hell, we still don't have a #5 hitter. Actually we do, but he's leading off. We have a few options for leadoff too. Oh well, I think a team needs the right balance of pitching, defense, and offense to be really good. Defense is going to make a bigger impact than 10%. Case in point Alex Gonzalez and his "defense" could have helped the Cubs get to the WS in 2003. Tell me I'm wrong. you're wrong. So, the guy who hit 27 HRs and slugged .500, while putting up a .960 OPS with runners in scoring position last year, isn't good enough for you? What about the guy who put up an .885 OPS, and .930 with RISP? i don't know who you're referring to...if it's jones, i have no problem with him being on the team. i'd much prefer him in the OF to pie. I'm guessing he was responding to Abe's claim that the Cubs don't have a #5 hitter and accidentally quoted you.

Case in point Alex Gonzalez and his "defense" could have helped the Cubs get to the WS in 2003. Tell me I'm wrong. Gonzalez was on the team mainly for his defense. He hit a few home runs but he surely didn't spend 13 seasons in the league because of his career .302 OBP.
  5. I just threw up in my mouth! Don't put that mental image in my head...EVER! I don't know who would win but the losers would be every single person who watched it.
  6. Big Murt!! Hopefully he can have a big year in 2007.
  7. Jones against a lefty. This won't end well.
  8. I tune in to MLBTV and the first voice I hear turns out to be Carrie Muskat and boy did she sound really interested in what she was talking about.
  9. Either 162-0 or (-1)-163. I can't decide which.
  10. I hate the Raiders. Can Al Davis just die already? Can we make this happen, please?
  11. I love the news. Just make it official.
  12. The craps tables are calling. I can only imagine Z gambling. I imagine Friday morning's headline might read something like this: ZAMBRANO STRANGLES BLACKJACK DEALER: No arrests made, what happens in Vegas, stays. BREAKING NEWS!! Carlos Zambrano went crazy in Las Vegas today after he had a bit of a losing streak at the blackjack table. Reportedly, Zambrano lost four hands in a row when he had either a 19 or a 20 and began to curse and scream. It was then that Zambrano really lost control. Fortunately the only casualty was the blackjack table which Zambrano picked up and snapped in half over his leg. Zambrano reportedly felt "relieved" after smashing the table and that his leg felt great.
  13. I'm definitely liking this lineup a lot.
  14. hahaha me too. Funny, I have me playing SS. What a coincidence, I have you playing SS also.
  15. As long as he doesn't revert back to the player he was after April last year, it would be great if he started. Otherwise, Izturis is a better option.
  16. If Wuertz gets stuck in AAA for 3 months again this year I'm going to be all kinds of ticked off. He better be in the bullpen this year and stay there unless he gets injured. EDIT: And I have faith that if he's healthy, he will pitch well.
  17. I don't read your posts, yet I enjoy looking at the picture of the girl. Just had to get that out. Thanks I guess. Glad to know you don't read what I type. Why would we want to read what a stupid Cardinals fan thinks? Go back to GRB. :D
  18. I would have taken the Raiders but carniby beat me to it.
  19. It pisses me off that we have to play crappy, cheap shotting Latin American countries all the time because it doesn't help the progression of the US team all that much when the opponent plays that way.
  20. I don't see how you can give a yellow card out there. A foul, yes, but a card, no way.
  21. I love how blunt he is when he's making his points also. Instead of "he could have done a bit better", Wynalda will say "that was a horrible effort".
  22. I want to punch #8 on Guatemala in the face repeatedly.
