  1. Danger time for UCLA.
  2. Florida can't anything early on today.
  3. Take that, Raisin Oh, I forgot to add, don't ban me Raisin.
  4. Seeing as I now want OSU to lose in the final, I think I'll have to pull for Florida over UCLA in the semifinal here. I just don't hate Joakim Noah like most people do. Sorry Raisin.
  5. The speeches the award winners have been giving (Tucker and Kevin Durant earlier) have been so hilariously cheesy. Unintentional comedy at its finest.
  6. When you get to be middle-aged, the face tends to sag a bit. If I didn't know any better watching Packer interview Oden there after the game, I would have thought OSU lost based on Oden's facial expression while he was standing there. Conley was smiling as was Matta but Oden looked like he was about to cry.
  7. Does Greg Oden have to look so glum all the time? Dude never shows any emotion at all.
  8. Georgetown killed themselves with turnovers today (14 to 7) and defensive rebounding (OSU had 16 offensive boards).
  9. If Ohio State kills my bracket here, I'm thinking I'm going to have to pull for the winner of the UCLA/Florida game in the final.
  10. This one is just about over.
  11. That's BS!! That's should be a charge on Oden and his fourth foul. The Georgetown player had his feet set and Oden barreled right into him. That's crap.
  12. Come on Hibbert, make some free throws.
  13. Three fouls on Oden and three on Hibbert now. EDIT: Crap, Hibbert has four now.
  14. The Cubs also won big in the opener in 2003.
  15. I guess they are counting Piazza, Mondesi, etc. as pre-1995 Piazza has been up since 1992 Mondesi in 93 Don't forget about our favorite! Todd Hollandsworth was part of that trio of rookie of the years i believe. Edit: It was 1996 with Nomo being 1995 and Mondesi being 1994 Eric Karros also won ROY.
  16. Oden isn't. Not this year. This is absurd. Oden is clearly the best player on Ohio State. He leads them in points, rebounds, blocks, field goal percentage and points per shot. He's also their best defensive player -- by a wide margin. Even if he didn't score at all, his defensive presence makes an enormous, though unquantifiable, difference. Plus, until the last three tournament games, he hasn't been in foul trouble at all. Mike Conley Jr. controls the ball all the time. He's their point guard. It's easier for Oden to get a ton of points/rebounds/blocks when he's primarily guarded by and guarding guys that are a couple inches shorter than he is. It's also easy to rack up a high field goal percentage when you don't shoot from more than eight feet out and a lot of your scores are dunks and layups. That's why they are called high percentage shots. Yes he is probably the best defensive player on his team and one of the best in the nation but his offense leaves a lot to be desired.
  17. Oh boy. The two guys that I wanted the most at #16 (besides Peterson, if he were to fall that far). Pretty pathetic, and that's a severe understatement, to only score a 12 and a 13 on the Wonderlic. It doesn't mean too much. Vince scored less than that last year and he had a pretty good year. The Wonderlic is only one of many tools to give an idea about a kid, I don't put much stock in it. It just means they're retarted (yes, intentional) but doesn't say much about how well they can play football.
  18. And for those of you (not me unfortunately) who have ESPN Classic, the second game each day will be televised on that channel at 5 pm ET.
  19. Oden isn't. Not this year. I couldn't believe that Oden was named to the All-America team this year and I really think he got named because of his name alone and how people expected him to perform.
  20. I find it interesting that in the tournament, Ohio State had played better with Oden on the bench than with him in the game (not necessarily all the time but fairly often). I remain convinced that Oden isn't the best player on this team (this year).
  21. Georgetown can't buy a layup early on. Much different from the Carolina game.
  22. GO HOYAS!!! Oden has two fouls already.
  23. Also... I just heard on the radio that Zambrano, supposedly, told ESPN AM 1000 his 2007 record will be 22-7.  7 losses!?! Come on! Zambrano doesn't talk about losses, that "record" is wins and home runs he'll hit this year.
  24. Just to make it simple, we'll take 2 teams, the Red Sox and the Blue Jays. Let's say in simulation #1 the Red Sox win the wild card with 95 wins and the Blue Jays end up with 84. Then in simulation #2, the Blue Jays win the wild card with 94 wins and the Red Sox end up with 85 wins. Well, the average wins for the wild card winner is (95+94)/2 = 94.5 wins. The average # of wins for the Red Sox is (95+85)/2 = 90 and the average # of wins for the Blue Jays is (94+84)/2 = 89. So: Red Sox avg 90 wins Blue Jays avg 89 wins Wild Card winner avg 94.5 wins. Because the wild card winner is always going to have, at worst, the fourth most wins in the league where as each individual team could theoretically have anywhere between the 1st and 14th (or 16th in the NL) wins in the American League.
  25. One error does not lose a playoff series. Tell Billy Buckner that, he'd appreciate it. Boston still had to go and lose Game 7 after Buckner's error.
