Leadoff walks are nice. So how are the Cubs going to blow this opportunity...double play...maybe a hit, a botched sac bunt, then a double play? Either way, it has to involve a double play.
Not to completely take the blame off of Eyre but that HR shouldn't matter that much. Cubs had 2nd and 3rd with no outs in the fifth and couldn't score. Isn't the average number of runs scored in that situation 1.6 or something like that? Runner on 2nd with one out in the sixth and couldn't score. The first three batters in the eighth all single and the Cubs only get one run. It should be 3-1 or 4-1 Cubs right now. Not saying Eyre doesn't deserve blame for sucking but that HR shouldn't have had an effect on the game.
Why can't the Cubs just say Eyre strained his back reaching for a donut and put him on the DL. They put Miller on the DL just because he sucked so why can't they do the same with Eyre?
