  1. GREAT play by ARam. And I know I'm a couple minutes late, but double plays like that only happen when you clog the bases.
  2. UC Irvine topped Texas to advance to the Super Regionals also. Raisin - since both Fullerton and UCLA were No. 2 seeds, do you know who is going to host the Super Regional games?
  3. It could make the Cubs better as long as Hendry doesn't get crap prospect or expensive arthritic crap in return for him. Could being the key word.
  4. I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that A-Rod would not go to Boston. The fans there already hate him. As did the Yankee fans regarding Damon. Whats your point? It's different going from the Yanks to the Sox than from the Sox to the Yanks.. I think Yankee fans are much more willing to accept a former Sox player than the other way around.
  5. I'm pretty sure that anybody from AAA could come up and have an ERA and WHIP less than the 7.85 and 2.51 that Eyre is currently sporting.
  6. You mean no expensive arthritic crap this time?
  7. Bleh, gonna get taken down by Fullerton in the Super Regionals. Big West looking decent. Fullerton's in the Super Regionals and UC Irvine should make it as well. Long Beach and UC Riverside, well, not so much.
  8. Wow. They're pretty high on the Cubs still considering this start. 26% chance at the playoffs...I know it's not great, but still.
  9. Yes, I've been wondering when the Cubs will move on and this looks like it's finally happening. Hard to get worked up over this one. The guy can't stay healthy and pitch to save his career, and this simply looks like the Cubs just want to do right by him and let him finish out his time here with dignity. The last time I saw Mark Prior pitch his fastball was worse than most high schoolers and his breaking pitch was more likely to hit 2 feet before the plate that it was to fool any hitters. If there's reason to think he's going to come back to his former self, I certainly haven't heard it. Let's finish our time with him on a good note, rather than breaking it off with angst and bad feelings. He finally had surgery. Given how talented he was before the injury, isn't it worth seeing if he can come back from that next year? The risk is low and the potential reward is high. Agreed. He's under the Cubs' control so why waste that. Stupid move by the Cubs.
  10. Because the Cubs are more addictive than crack.
  11. Barrett might be better this year and next year than either guy from AAA, but there's no way he's taking a one year contract. You have to look at who will be better two or three years down the road. Barrett will turn 31 in the offseason and, as a catcher, will likely be wearing down (or already is). He will also decline faster than the average player because of this. It will be better for the Cubs if Barrett isn't wearing a Cubs uniform in 2008.
  12. Pedroia has been crushing the ball recently. He's from this area - Woodland which is 10-15 minutes north of Sacramento.
  13. I heard somewhere that Clemens is losing $150K or something like that every day that he isn't on the active roster. Not that it really matters, but that's a pretty expensive price to pay.
  14. Holy cow, a project prospect link. I know the guy who started up that website. He wrote at the UCD school paper when I was.
  15. Get him back on the juice, or, give him more juice since he's probably still doing something, and he'll be back sooner.
  16. Ooo, Manny's a good one. He definitely should especially over Ortiz. But Ortiz locked up his legendary status with the two game winning hits in Games 4 and 5 of the 2004 playoffs against the Yankees. Not saying it's right, but he has. Getting back to Manny, he absolutely should go down as one of the greats. Unfortunately more people are going to remember him for "Manny being Manny" (namely, going inside the Monster to, um, relieve himself) and the yearly trade demands rather than the numbers he puts up year in and year out on the field.
  17. 4-3. What put him over the top was what the Cubs gave up to get him.
  18. meh, his development isnt going to take him that MUCH further IMO. He is physically mature (hell he was at 17), and he will never be the most agile. He will improve some more, but i dont think he has that much talent that hasnt been already realized. he matured pretty early (in hs) and will prolly get to his peak early as well. He is still going to get better, because he will learn to play the game smarter. He also will get stronger, you do until your 30's. Well, LeBron is already 28 so he's only got a couple more years left.
