  1. They do have similar skill sets, but Beltran is just way, way better in each of those skills.
  2. Wow. Niedermayer scored on a deflection for Anaheim with 47.3 seconds left to tie the game at 1. Anaheim was on a power play and had pulled the goalie so they had a 6 on 4 advantage. It's likely headed to overtime.
  3. hey, you know what, scotty, since you got wright out two nights ago, i guess i'm not mad at you for giving up the hit yesterday. getting him out two days ago is good enough for me. I don't understand getting pissed at pitchers for giving up hits. All the pitcher can do is throw the ball. A ball in play that isn't a rocket/homer is going to fall in or be an out pretty much at random. i'm just annoyed by his excuses. Understandable. Although at least his excuses are actually pretty accurate. It's probably best to say nothing, but then you go the other way with Dempster tipping his cap to everybody. Yesterday's game leaves a bad taste in everybody's mouth, but it boils down to two things in my opinion, Dempster not getting regular work leading up to the game, and Dempster not throwing strikes. I can't be pissed at Eyre for that loss. I can't blame Theriot for not getting the ball or Murton for not throwing the runner out. They scored 5 runs with a banged up lineup, the starting pitching and most of the bullpen was fine. It was Dempster and the walks that lost that game. What the deuce - I thought your account was hacked?
  4. I really don't understand this move. Wasn't Guzman sent down to AAA to be stretched out? And now he's getting moved to the pen. I'm going to be furious if either Dempster or Miller get the 5th starter spot because neither should be an option. Miller was horrible in his starts this year and Dempster has been solid as a closer with the exception of two outings. I still won't be happy if Marshall takes the 5th starter spot but I'll at least be open to it.
  5. Hopefully the Cubs don't suck on this upcoming 6 game road trip.
  6. Well, two out of three from the Sox isn't bad.
  7. Even Hawk and DJ acknowledging Erstad's lack of power and wondering why Soriano was playing so deep.
  8. Crap. And the Cubs give the run right back.
  9. Next time a scrub pitches for the first time, I'm laying money against the Cubs. It's like freaking clockwork. Unfortunately I took Cubs -1.5 in a 4-team parlay today. The other three parts of my parlay? Won, won, winning by 6...if the Cubs can win by two, I turned $5 into $100. That means they'll win by one.
  10. At least we got one run back which was better than expected because at one point there were no on and two out.
  11. Ozzie going to bring in another new pitcher.
  12. I don't know how you can be mad at Z for that. He threw two or three pitches that anyone else in baseball would have swung and missed at. That's b/c he was going for the K and not the out like he always does. Ever since Z became more of a "strikeout" pitcher, his effectiveness has decreased accordingly. He doesn't as deep into games as he used to, his groundball to fyball ratio has plummeted, and he has already given up more homers this year than he did the entire '04 (??) season. He used to be able to negate the walks by giving up few homers and enducing many a double play. Now it just doesn't happen. I wish we had that old Z back. Not quite, but close. He's given up 11 HR's this year and gave up 14 in 2004. So he'll likely have given up more sometime in June. Maybe it was '03 then. I'm pretty sure one of those years he only gave up 9 or 10 homers during the regular season. Yeah, it was 03. And there's No. 12 given up on the year.
