    Big shocker here. Apparently Paul Sullivan just believes anything he is told and has absolutely no sarcasm detector whatsoever. Plus, doesn't Z know that Ozzie won't be around much longer anyway?

    OK, but where did you get this info? it's speculation, but Kevin Towers is Kevin Towers and Bob Watson is Bob Watson. That wouldn't surprise me at all with Young. All the Padres would need is an offday so the guy they move up in the rotation would still get his usual 5 days off. I figured something like that would happen all along.

    to be fair, a lot of #4 starters have the ninth-best WHIP among major league starters. by the way, of the 118 pitchers who have thrown 60 innings or more this year, 110 of them have gotten better run support than rich hill. And the Cubs have scored 29 runs in his last 13 starts. Great job losers. I wrote a column on this same thing for the paper last week except it was on Matt Cain. Obviously his stats aren't as good as Rich Hill's but he has pitched better than his 2-8 record suggests. He's received no run support from the Giants though IIRC it was more than Hill has received from the Cubs.

    That's how I read it. Writers don't like to say players suck. They talk around such topics. Nobody is going to want to talk to you if you tell them they suck all the time.

    What the hell, why not give Cedeno another shot. I mean, he can't possibly do worse than the .097/.121/.323/.444 line he currently has for the year, can he?

    With the win the Royals went from completely useless to just mostly useless.

    RIP Shooter. Like many others I thought he was in his mid 40's at least and couldn't believe he was only 38. Either way, it's still too young.

    The US played 10 times better in the second half than they did in the first half. If not for the wide open misses by Ching and Beasley there in the second half - especially Beasley - it would have been 3-1 or 4-1. Either way, the US looked like a different team in the second half. Well done boys. Well done.
