  1. Fred, you don't happen to know where the Cubs rank in the NL and ML in terms of runs scored in the first inning, do you?
  2. Just watched this again and it was even funnier the second time I watched it.
  3. Of course the Cubs have a chance. It may not be a good one, but they do have a chance.
  4. Ceiling? I would say eight or nine Cy Young awards.
  5. They should switch that. I would say Manny is more likely to get there this year.
  6. Just win, baby. I'll probably be watching this one.
  7. That will happen. It may not be a whole series, but Bonds will hit 756 in SF.
  8. At some point, it would seem to make sense that Prince will head over to the A.L. and be a DH. Might be a few years, though. Is that when he hits 300 or 350? Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, I mean pounds.
  9. I hope for the sake of anyone who gives a crap about the WSox (other than Hawk) that this pattern doesn't hold up next season, because the experience of being a Cubs fan in 2006 is nothing I would wish on anyone. Other than Hawk. While I'm enjoying seeing the Sox near the bottom of the AL, I would prefer it if the Cardinals followed that path.
  10. There is no reason for the Cubs to sign Z right now. He's pitching well and he knows that he's pitching for a contract next year. So as long as he's pitching well, he's helping the Cubs and helping his trade value if the Cubs fall out of the race. And if the Cubs actually do make up some serious ground on the Brewers and get into the playoff hunt, they'll have a motivated Z pitching for a big payday.
  11. You have to consider where and how much the pitcher has thrown though. Not all 26 year old pitchers are the same. Z has thrown a lot of innings over the past couple years courtesy of Dusty Baker and he's a power pitcher to boot. I'm not saying he will get injured and will get worn down, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.
  12. I will be extremely surprised if Who isn't on the Cardinals when the 2008 season rolls around. EDIT: Oh, and he will be traded and soon. There is no way the White Sox are going to hold on to him and just let him walk at the end of the year.
  13. Assuming you're getting the same player in return, I would deal Marshall first without thinking twice.
  14. Gehrigs 2,130 must have been worthless too, then. There were some Yankee road games where he'd bat leadoff, then get pulled for a pinch runner, or he'd play one inning in the field. I doubt Gehrig did it for 6-8 weeks which is what Tejada would have had to have done to keep his streak alive which is what I think they're referring to.
  15. I'm neither Italian nor Mexican, and my name isn't Cristiano Ronaldo. So no flopping for me. As an American player, I earn my fould the old fashioned way: http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2006/soccer/specials/world_cup/2006/06/20/mcbride.apology/t1_mcbride.jpg I hate, HATE Daniele De Rossi and am still ticked he was allowed to play in the World Cup final.
  16. Not to mention that Eyre isn't even on the list.
  17. If the Cubs didn't do it all the time, we wouldn't say it all the time.
  18. Somebody must have asked the people in your sig 'Who here can pitch better than Scott Eyre?'
  19. Blame this one on Lou. Eyre lucked his way through two innings. There was no reason to send him out for the ninth. If Lou lets Howry start his own inning, this game has a different result. Binigo.
