If so, then Hendry will go out this offseason and find the biggest cokeheads he can and sign them to long term contracts. Lol, yep. He'll also try sign every short reliever he can find to revamp the rotation. I don't think they'll win it all, but they'll win a series. We'll all get our fill of hearing the feel good stories. So inspiring, just goes to show kids...if you don't give up and snort coke/drink and drive you can achieve the impossible. I'm suprised the whole "Winning for Josh Hancock" angle hasn't been played up. I guess the BAC, drugs and speeding that led to his demise have made the story harder to play up. I'm surprised that angle hasn't been played up yet either. But don't worry, there's still plenty of time left in the year for that.

I can't remember such an incompetent offense. I think we had a much higher chance of scoring at any point last year than we have the last 2 weeks. Every hitter's approach (save Theriot and Kendall) is just terrible. Watch the meat, swing at crap - your goal is to pop the ball straight up or ground out meekly to the pitcher. They were WAY worse last year. Didn't the Cubs set a record for fewest runs over a 9 or 10 game span? EDIT: I don't know if this was a record or not but starting on April 29, the Cubs scored 6 runs in 8 games and 13 runs in 11 games: 2, 0, 2, 0, 1, 0, 0, 1, 3, 3, 1.

this is like the "marquis isn't so bad for a fifth starter argument." he has a remarkable ability to pitch so poorly that people's expectations go down and anything better than complete disaster is fine. he sucks. i think he meant it could have been worse. which fits exactly with what i was saying. so what you expected him to give up 8 or 9 runs today.... what are looking for. he gave up 5 runs in the first 2 innings then went scoreless in 3 1/3, which means it could have been worse... It's impossible to please abuck. it's impossible to please me by allowing 5 runs in 5 1/3 innings, yes. i'm also not pleased with a $100 mil that hovers around .500. sorry. I'm not just talking about this situation. I'm talking about the Cubs in general. I can't remember you ever saying anything good about anyone not named Rich Hill.
