  1. This is ridiculous. Just strike out, Gross.
  2. Being a bit hypocritical here aren't you?
  3. I don't know why I even bother.
  4. This really isn't all that surprising. Like SSR said, it's about playing to the casual fan. There was a letter to the editor in the Sacramento Bee sports section a couple Sundays ago where the person complained about the Kings only being on national TV three times this year - with two of those being NBATV - and said that it wasn't fair. Both my editor and I got a good laugh out of it and the first thing that came out of our mouths was something to the effect of "who, outside of the Sacramento area, even cares about the Kings right now?" In the NBA's case, who is a bigger draw, Mike Bibby or Greg Oden? It's not very hard to figure out. And like has been said, Yankees-Red Sox is the biggest draw in the US as a whole so it makes sense that MLB/FOX/ESPN would want the series between those two teams to be played on the weekends.
  5. I actually emailed the reporter and told him I thought Myers was a childish idiot, but that he should have known better than to take the bait. The guy wrote back to me and said that it was hard in light what Myers said to him, but that I was correct insomuch as he should have known better and kept his composure. If Kenny Rogers shoving a camera man is worth a 20 game suspension then this should be worth at least a game or two. MLB should send a message that this type of thing is not acceptable. However, it will probably never happen. They are too busy suspending guys for arguing and making incidental contact with umpires. Or he'll be fined an undisclosed amount.
  6. Why did they do the smart thing? I thought it was horribly stupid and lame. Not just because they completely set it up for a four team playoff, but when was the last time four teams from major conferences all finished the regular season unbeaten? I know there were five unbeaten teams in 2004 but Boise State and Utah aren't in major conferences. i didnt expect you to understand. How nice of you. I'll ask you again, why did they do the smart thing? EDIT: And why am I not surprised you made a condescending remark rather than just explaining it in the first place.
  7. Obviously not. The question is, why would you say it's not his fault? He insulted another person quite flagrantly and right to their face, because he gave up some home runs in the game and was touchy about it. That's his problem, and he chose to lash out at the reporter for it. He's a jerk. I'm not necessarily saying it's not his fault he called the guy [expletive]. I'm saying I can't blame him for doing so. I can understand why he did it. Myers blew the game, what else is he going to get asked about other than that? And what other players on the Phillies were more important to the game and the story than Myers? None. The reporter is obviously going to center the story around Myers' blown save and is of course going to want to get a quote from him.
  8. Or he insulted someone who was, you know, just doing his job.
  9. My thoughts exactly. Low base + incentives is perfect if he's willing to take it. But I would only offer him one year guaranteed maybe with a team option for a second year.
  10. Baseballreference -> Teams -> Specific team -> Specific year -> Schedule. It shows the game-by-game results, record after each game and the team's standing in the division.

  12. I don't really have a chance to win but at least I'm closer to first than last.
  13. I don't know what I would be thinking now if I was a White Sox fan, but it would probably be something irrelevant like how much I hate the Cubs because I'm a moron and the Red Sox remind me of the Cubs. That and I'd be completely baffled as to why my favorite team sucks. It's easy. Just think about how you felt about the Cubs last year.
  14. Hahahahha, Cincy finishing above the Cubs and Brewers? Wow thats a real pipe dream. I know. I mean, I realize that they've won 6 in a row but come on. It's the Reds. Yea, and we are the Cubs, so whats your point? That they have a bad team this year and the Cubs don't. Our pitching is heads and shoulders above theirs, their offense is heads and shoulders above ours. We are an average team who had 1 big hot streak. Who knows this could be the time for the Reds, and their average team, to have their 1 hot streak. Team OPS: Cubs: .738, 9th in NL Reds: .771, 6th in NL Team ERA: Cubs: 4.00, 3rd in NL Reds: 4.98, 16th in NL Team RS: Cubs: 596, 8th in NL Reds: 637, 4th in NL Team RA: Cubs: 546, 2nd fewest in NL Reds: 695, most in NL The Reds pitching staff is downright bad (re: worst in the National League) and, while the Cubs offense is worse than the Reds, it isn't by a significant margin. Like I said, the Cubs, as a whole, have a better team than the Reds do.
  15. Im not, 2 lefties against the Brewers? We are screwed. Its bad when I wish Marquis was pitching in this series along with Z since they are righties. That definitely makes me nervous.

  18. Not to mention that Kendall failed on two bunt attempts which forced him to swing away with 2 strikes before that.
  19. I have to say the White Sox also because of what both Rob and sweetpeteman said.
