  1. I wish we didn't have to use every reliever tonight with the DH tomorrow.
  2. The team the Cubs were behind at that point was the Giants and their high water mark was actually 24-3. They went 58-68 the rest of the way and finished in 4th place, 25.5 games out.
  3. If Zimmerman had gotten a couple hits in the first two games, the Cubs might have pitched to Harper a bit more. As it stands, he went 2-19 in the series.
  4. Another break goes their way. Could have been a DP.
  5. Good lord everything is going wrong today. Wild pitches, balls off gloves.
  6. Time to atone for your miscue in the top half, Bryant
  7. Strike 1 to Espinosa was the same pitch as ball 1 to Ramos, which should have been strike 3. If he calls that, Roark leads off the third.
  8. My problem was Jake was getting squeezed in the top half and then all of a sudden Roark gets a big zone. Big zone? The second K was maybe half an inch off the corner, tops, and the third strike should have zero complaints. I'm also just bored of the excuses for Soler. I guess I'm just thinking of the Harper at bat.
  9. I, uh, are you two actually watching the game? I'd be mad if any of my hitters *didn't* approach that at bat the way Soler did I'm watching and didn't have a problem with either of those last two strikes. The last one especially was meat. My problem was Jake was getting squeezed in the top half and then all of a sudden Roark gets a big zone.
  10. To be fair, Jake was missing some spots also that inning.
  11. Each of the first three pitches to Harper could have been strikes and two of them definitely should have been.
  12. Did the Cubs do pink numbers on Mothers Day last year also?
  13. It's really not; no matter how good he's been, for much of his time he couldn't be helped but look at as taking playing time from a sexier player people were more excited to see. Now that Schwarber is out and Soler stinks it's really no big deal that he's in there, but for much of last year there was usually someone we wan ted to see more. Except he really never did take away time from anybody. He played as much as he should have and did well. I don't think mojo is aware that La Stella only had 75 PAs last year.
  14. There are six teams at least 7.5 games out of first place right now. Four of them are in the NL Central.
  15. The Cubs haven't played anyone good yet, they said. Wait until the Cubs play someone good, they said. How does 6-0 against the Pirates and Nationals sound?
