  1. It wasn't pretty but the Cubs picked up the W tonight. Going strictly by the box score since I wasn't able to watch but Jake was decent and the pen shut things down with the lead. We'd all like more blowouts but they all count the same in the standings. CUBS are 15-12 when they play a baseball game CUBS are 6-6 at home CUBS are 2-3 when Dickbag McHorseteeth starts CUBS are 2-1 against the Phillies CUBS are 2-0 on Thursday's CUBS are 15-12 when they allow a run in the first inning Go CUBS!!
  2. The Nationals are 17-9 and have the biggest RD at +45, which means their record is pretty much right on their pythag (16.4 wins). For comparison, last year the Cubs were 20-6 with a +93 RD at this point (pythag 21.6 wins). So even after 3 blowout wins in the past week, the Nats RD isn't even half what our was at the same point last year.
  3. All of which were in the first inning.
  4. The Cubs we know and love showed up (for the most part) tonight. We got 6 XBH, including 3 dongs, a lockdown bullpen (retired all 12 batters faced) and a decent start from Lester. Hopefully that was the first of a long winning streak. CUBS are 14-12 when they play a baseball game CUBS are 5-6 at home CUBS are 3-2 when Arrieta starts CUBS are 1-1 against the Phillies CUBS are 1-2 on Wednesday's Go CUBS!!
  5. Why the horsefeathers are our starters incapable of going through the first inning scoreless?
  6. Cubs haven't really been playing like World Champions yet this year and if they want to start doing so with this game, that would be great. CUBS are 13-12 when they play a baseball game CUBS are 4-6 at home CUBS are 2-3 when Lester starts CUBS are 0-1 against the Phillies Go CUBS!!
  7. So why did they start this one when it's still raining hard?
  8. Thought this was funny.
  9. Raised his OPS by 200 points today. He also cost me 2.5 categories in fantasy. Would have won 2 more and tied a third if he goes 6-6 with 4 2B instead of 1 2B and 3 HR. /nobodycaresaboutmyfantasyteam
  10. That should do it on the title race. Really needed Everton to get a result today.
  11. David Ross is willing to work there for free so you know they must be a bunch of monsters. They were good people until they hired Ross. His bad influence probably turned them into monsters.
  12. He's just guessing on all the close pitches. Gameday had Ball 4 to KB in the exact same spot as Strike 1.
  13. That was a great read off the bat by Jay and it allowed him to score.
  14. Lackey hasn't put anyone away today. Moreland was 0-2 and walked (I know, should have K'd), Pedroia singled on 0-2, Bradley was down 0-2 and singled on 1-2 and now Bogaerts triples on 1-2.
  15. Didn't matter but there was a 2 strike pitch in the 1st inning that was a way better pitch than Zobrist was called out on also.
  16. This ump hates to check with the first/third base umpire.
  17. Fellaini just lost his mind. Picked up a yellow for dragging Aguero down to stop a counter attack. Literally 15 seconds later, he does it again. Before the ref has a chance to pull out the second yellow, he headbutts Aguero (one of those where the players are going to be face to face but Fellaini made a motion towards Aguero's head and Aguero sold it) and gets a straight red. Needless to say, it wasn't the best 30 seconds for him.
  18. This is completely irrational because i know that if they win every series, they'll win over 100 games, but it would be nice if the Cubs could sweep a series.
  19. The Chicago Cubs had a 2014 season? I remember Iowa and Tennessee playing baseball that season, but not the Cubs. yeah...some fun stuff happened, some that had direct/indirect impacts on the cubs' resurgence Yep. Like you said in your other post, 2014 was when things started to turn. In addition to what you posted: -Rizzo bounced back after his disappointing 2013 (.742 OPS) and started to turn into a stud (.913 OPS) -Bryant was destroying the minors -Schwarber was drafted and destroyed the minors for a couple months -Billy Beane got drunk and traded Russell to us
  20. Can't believe Morrison didn't get tossed for that.
