  1. Zobrist has his Juan Pierre 4-3 game on point tonight.
  2. This game is no longer fun. Good thing the first pitch was called a ball when it was clearly in the zone.
  3. We didn't give up any runs in the first inning and we actually had a lead in a game are two differences from the Mets series.
  4. This is more hits already than the Cubs got in the first two games combined. That's not actually true but it feels like it.
  5. The sabermetrics love bunting for a hit against the shift because, as you said, it's a guaranteed hit if it's halfway decent.
  6. Astros have the 8th inning bullpen woes also.
  7. I also called Lackey "Dickbag McHorseteeth" so maybe that's what turned the series around.
  8. weird. i mean obviously i get it if you're literally referring to the fact that we won those games, but that was a much more egregious decision by maddon, IMO. Chapman in Game 6 was pretty baffling, but you don't *know* it will turn out awfully in Game 7. Yes, there were good reasons to doubt the move and people did as soon as it happened, but you can see a little bit of wiggle room. Going with Lackey in a high leverage spot so you have Wade for the save. . . just feels like such a fundamental error. Not immediately getting someone warming up when Rizzo made it a 7 run game was a fundamental error. I, and I'm guessing most other people, were fine with Chapman coming in when he did in Game 6. It was the extra pitches he threw for no reason that we take issue with. That being said, we don't know how much those few pitches affected Chapman in Game 7, if they affected him at all.
  9. Do you see the problem here? Here’s the thing. Wades arm is about to fall off. And they haven’t hit worth horsefeathers for the entire playoffs. Roll the dice with lackey who’s been ok lately. This isn't horsefeathering June. It's October. Wade didn't pitch on Friday, he didn't pitch Saturday and he's not going to pitch on Monday. Nobody is saying to run him out there for 50 pitches again. But it's the top of the order with the game on the line. You don't go down with your 8th best pitcher. You leave Duensing in and hope to steal one against 7-8-9? Sure. But when the inning got dirty, you bring in your best pitcher. He should have been brought in for Taylor.
  10. I have virtually no faith in Lackey to get Turner out.
  11. Plus even if Lackey gets out of this, unless we take the lead, he'll be facing the heart of the order next inning.
  12. Double switch with Happ going to center in Almora's spot?
  13. Well this definitely gets Jansen out of the game. Won't matter unless we get out of this though.
  14. When you swing at every pitch a foot above the zone he sure is. just guessing here that those pitches are extremely deceptive, especially against righties, and not that contreras suddenly became the least selective hitter there (i couldn't include almora there, heh) I'm sure they are. The main one that ticked me off was the first one to Willy. Jansen almost hit KB then hit Rizzo in the span of 3 pitches. I know Jansen throws a ton of strikes but try taking the first one.
  15. They might let him hit especially if it's 2 out none on or a bunt situation.
  16. When you swing at every pitch a foot above the zone he sure is.
  17. Yeah, just keep swinging at pitches at your eyes, guys.
