  1. How didn’t he beat that out. Slow roller and they had to throw to second first?
  2. It's almost as if pitching 7 times in 9 days isn't good for a pitcher.
  3. We could have Gio Gonzalez. Although I think he walks as many as Chatwood. Gio walks a lot of guys but he's nowhere near Chatwood. Chatwood has walked so many guys that he could not pitch the rest of the year and would still probably lead the majors in walks. He's got 93 on the year, the second most is 74 and the third most is 70. Those two guys have thrown 36 and 27 more innings than Chatwood also.
  4. Should have taken him out after the first two reached.
  5. To be fair, their entire bullpen has been blowing games for a couple weeks now. If he didn’t give it up, someone else would have. EDIT: Aug 8: Tied 2-2 with Oakland, give up 1 in the the 8th, lose 3-2. Aug 9: Up 3-1 on Colorado, give up 4 in the 7th but win 8-5. Aug 10: Up 4-3 on Colorado, give up 3 in the 7th and lose 5-4. Aug 11: Up 2-0 on Colorado, give up 3 in the bottom of the 9th and lose 3-2. Aug 12: Tied 3-3 with Colorado, give up 1 in the bottom of the 9th and lose 4-3. Aug 13: Up 2-1 on SF, give up 4 in the top of the 9th and lose 5-2. Aug 14: Tied 1-1 with SF, give up 1 in the 9th to lose 2-1. Aug 15: Up 3-0 on SF, give up 3 in the 8th but win in extras. Aug 18: Get walked off by Seattle in the 10th. Aug 20: Kenley gives up the two homers to start the ninth. And tonight.
  6. Yeah, that was bad. He jumped to get the ball and then just never even tried to put his foot back on the bag.
  7. This is going to shock everyone but the Dodger pen blew the lead. Solo homer and it’s 1-1.
  8. No hitter gone Shutout gone Joc Pederson homer.
  9. Clearly Sofa cursed the Cubs with his presence on Saturday and Sunday. Tuesday we lost because Agony and Ivy didn’t get the game thread up soon enough and Brandon went and started one right before Agony and Ivy did, and I’m pretty sure the Cubs have never won a game when two game threads get started. Sofa wasn’t there today, we only started one thread and we won.
  10. Another great TOOTBLAN from Willy. Would have sucked to have 1st and 2nd no outs with the top of the order up.
  11. He throws 5 pitches out of the zone to Bote and the first one to Willy is outside of the zone and he goes and hacks at the second pitch outside of the zone. 5 pitches to Willy, all out of the zone and he strikes out.
  12. In case my prediction of a Cubs blowout doesn’t come true and we continue our wonderful streak, I’ll say Javy hits the solo homer in the 3rd or 4th inning.
  13. No surprise. I imagine he’ll be activated on Sept 1.
  14. He was better against righties the past two years, but he was still really good against lefties, too. I’ve got no problem with the lineup. Murphy’s probably going to be leadoff a lot and since this is his first game, Joe just threw him there. Everyone complained about Rizzo batting there since nobody was on base for him so that eliminates him and Javy. You’re not putting Heyward there. Almora, Contreras and Happ have all been varying degrees of crap and Bote has done nothing since the slam. So you’re left with Zobrist. Swapping them would be fine or even moving Zo up and moving the other three down a spot but then you’re just shuffling the same four.
  15. So Banner/Ring ceremony versus Red Ass Clint Hurdle? Nice They should do it in Milwaukee.
  16. If the cubs could figure a way to win 8 of 10 they could end this. Yeah, it’s annoying. Been hoping for that (or similar run, 13 of 16 or 17, etc) all year Cubs have had two 22-12 streaks this year (excluding overlaps), from early May to mid June and late June to early August. Had four overlapping stretches of 13 of 17 from late June to mid July and one from late May to mid June.
  17. Not at all. He is a pitcher. Any day he is still breathing is pretty much a win, let alone providing value. Counterpoint on the providing value part: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/images/players/head_shot/543022.jpg http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/images/players/head_shot/488846.jpg
  18. Martinez got drilled in the chest on a line drive. He did walk off though. Hernandez had a nice TOOTBLAN on the same play. He was on first and took a big turn around second after the batter was safe at first. Cards threw behind him and got the third out.
  19. Chapman apparently left tonight's game after 6 pitches so something good happened today.
