  1. Kaplan also said that the "Floyd deal would be done by Monday", also....So go figure.
  2. Not really. Because while they make a "competitive" offer, their best offer is still going to be significantly worse then the Cubs. ? Do you honestly see the Cards offering a comparable deal to that of 3 yrs $44/45 mill the Cubs offer? I don't. The deal I see them making is 2 yrs $22/23 million. I don't see the Cards outbidding the Cubs. You see...on one hand you get some people saying no offer has been made...then on the other hands....you have people saying an offer has been made. Right now, it's confusing on Jason Schmidt. Did you honestly see anything in my post referring to the Cards? I was talking about the Cubs offer that both the Chicago Bruces say didn't happen.
  3. I'm going to go with him sucking, just like the last 3 years. I'm thinking Jeff Suppan part deux, maybe on a lesser scale. I'm think Kent Bottenfield/Jeff Weaver esque turnaroud. Which is fair, because then the Cards can take K. Wells---after his career yr---and trade him Tampa Bay for Carl Crawford after then 2007 season. That seems fair. it's a one year contract. I'm implying they'd resign him after 2007, and trade him to TB for Crawford during the 2008 season.

  7. I can hear "The Borg, aka Red Sox, laughing at the Yankees. The "Borg" get a potential front of the rotation starter, while "The Evil Empire" gets a back end of the rotation pitcher.
  8. The Orioles have finally addressed their offense, by coming to terms with Paul Bako.
  9. Thank you. Igawa is going to have his butt handed to him by the AL, which in turns makes this instantly a bad decision for the Yanks. I love it.
  10. Perhaps, Craig cloned himself? I believe it is Counsell to Milawukee, and I believe this opens up a door for Graffanino to S.D.
  11. Isn't it funny that a "Kennedy" is will be playing in a city made famous by a BEER company?
  12. Rule them out, period. That is great news. I think Sean Marshall and/or Angel Guzman could do similar numbers to Igawa in 07, for cheaper contracts.
  13. Cause I spit in the face of people who are not cool. Nice. Carlito is cool. I'm glad somebody caught the suggestion. (Takes a bit out of red apple.)
  14. Cause I spit in the face of people who are not cool.
  15. Kennedy is alright, but watch Duncan turn Kip Wells into the next Chris Carpenter.
  16. Awww....man, Boston isn't going to pony up $30 or so million dollars for Igawa? Crap. I can't wait to see what happens when Boston gives up its right to negotiate with Matsuzaka. It's going to be a complete free for all. I think he's talking about the $ the Red Sox are going to throw at players if the deal falls through. Actually, I was being sarcastic. Considering the "fee" Boston paid just to talk to Matsuzaka, I thought---sarcastically---that the Red Sox were going to throw $30 mill at Igawa for "shoots and grins." Well, then considering the "winning bid", I guess I was too far off.
  17. All these stats are hurting my head. Here is what I know, both Theriot and Cedeno could be turn into serviceable players, IDK. Right now, I'd take Theriot over Cedeno, only because Theriot seems to have "hustle" factor, and Cedeno seems abit like Corey Patterson, in that he is abit too laid back to ever improve. Cedeno looked both clueless and loss last yr, as a starter, and IMO, should start 2007 as a the starting SS of the Iowa Cubs. He was NEFTI bad. But I'd prefer to send Cesar Izturis to the White Sox for the guy who works the hot dogs stands and a janitor to be named later, and go after a INF who can ACTUALLY contribute to a big league teams' success.
  18. Because Randy Wolf is from LA. The Cardinals and Cubs made stronger offers: I doubt the accuracy of the 3 year offers. Players don't turn down garuantees of 20 plus mil for 7.5 mil hometown discounts. Agreed. This sounds like a spin that Randy Wolf "choose" home over "more money." I know this is a stretch, but what if the Dodgers went after Wolf because: A: they grew tired of waiting for Schmidt to decide, and B: Wolf was available and can be signed NOW. Or better yet, they may have come to the conclusion that Schdmit has already made up his mind on his next locale, and the Dodgers weren't prepare to meet said offer? Again, I know this is a stretch, but I am throwing out the possibilities.

  20. First: I think that "source" was prolly drunk when he mad that email. Second: Murton/Howry/Gallagher and Veal for Manny? Hecks no, I wouldn't do it......unless Papelbon and/or Hansen is coming with Manny. Third: Since everybody knows Boston is trying to move him, I'm backing on that Howry (I prefer to move Eyre) Gallagher and Murton get's it done, especially if the Cubs agreed to take Clement's contract off their hands.
  21. Actually, I believe they were call "The Wolfpack."
  22. Supposedly, Maddux and Hendry parted on good terms in July. Though still somewhat improbable, with Piniella now in town, Maddux coming back to the Cubs is no longer impossible in my opinion. In fact, if the Padres, Giants or D-Backs don't grab him in the next week or so, I could see Hendry re-signing Greg to a 2-year $20M deal. On no planet is Greg Maddux worth $10m per. He's terrible now. Maybe so, but in this market, it wouldn't surprise me.
  23. If Manny is a Cubs, surely Murton won't be.
  24. But the Giants don't have the "trading chips" to trade for Ramirez. And I am sure the Red Sox would ask for Matt Cain, which won't happen.
