  1. The Cubs don't, but Tim Wilken does. I don't think so. He's employed by the Cubs, hired by the Hendry/MacPhail regime. That alone is enough to tarnish whatever image he had coming in. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since he has full control of draft decisions. I can't help but maintain a large amount of skepticism about any decision made by anybody involved with this organization. Until Wilken is "brainwash" into the way of the Cubs thinking, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. Nobody else, tho.
  2. Yes. No matter how you slice it drafting Colvin was pretty much a waste. Wow. I understand we reached for him, but give the kid a couple years before you call him a "waste." Agreed. He was STILL considered a 1st rd guy. So, if for nothing else, he went about 15 picks before he should have gone. But Tyler Colvin, will be a very good player for the Cubs. Not even close. Who told you this? He was ranked 170th by BA, well outside the first few rounds. Here, read this: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5713564 Or this: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060607cubsdraftsep,1,2979325.story?coll=cs-cubs-headlines This was a reach of the most extreme variety. There can't even be an argument about this. Seriously man, this pick just shows what a complete mess the Cubs are as a franchise. They're treading water in a sea of poor decisions and bad information. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/askba/261494.html Try this on for size, Soul Look, Jim Callis mentioned he prolly wouldn't take Colvin at 13, but then that is still based on opinion. Yes...Colvin was a stretch at 13, but NOT, I repeat NOT an outreagous reach as some are overblowing. So, I trust Tim Wilken ability to judge talent, and if he believe Tyler Colvin is worth the gamble at 13, then WHO is anybody to argue with him.
  3. You think they fire him before the White Sox series? With no offday in between? That'd be awesome. Maybe they'll fire him mid-game. Right in the middle of the field preferably. Like when he is out making a pitching change. Hendry should walk out to the mound, take dusty's hat off, and make him walk out of the park. Through the stands so everyone can throw their beer on him and laugh at him. Right when Dusty is about to exercise a double switch. Close, but I see Dusty trying to pull a rare "Triple Switch" in which he sub Mabry, Perez, and Blanco in for Lee, Murton, and the pitcher. Cause dude, why do we need Lee, when we have hot-hitting Blanco on the team. ends sarcasm.
  4. Explain why he missed 2 months of baseball this year. Was that a "freak" incident? I don't care who has more upside, I'll take a stable above average dependable #3 pitcher than an unstable possible #1 (someday) because the first one will get off to a good start and be pitching for you when spring training ends. The other one will be whipping towels for you. Prior is a pitcher YOU wait for. When (not if) he is healthy, you are going to be glad you stay patient.
  5. Anyone with less than 7 years playing experience is a rookie to this guy. Be a man and don't blame them Baker will you? Oh yeah Baker, explain how Florida is doing so much better than the Cubs too while you're at it? Coward. Or how about the Dodgers (with a similar payroll situations, and injuries) with 7 rookies?
  6. Didn't Mark Wohlers also once hit 104 mph a fews yrs ago? Because that is weak. I mean Brandon Frazier hit 109 and 100 mph in the WORLD SERIES, man, against the Cardinals MAN. :)
  7. Hot pink, with a shade of lime green.
  8. Prolly, "man he can steal 2nd, why can't I?"
  9. Let's not forget Hendry in the mess. Hendry knew he couldn't count on Wood and Prior to stay healthy, and YET the only thing he did to address the starting rotation is re-signing Glendon "Two Ton" Rusch. All I know is you know the famous pictures of three monkeys (you know the one with one monkey covering his eyes, one covering his ears, and one covering his mouth): MacPhail: Hear no evil. Hendry: See no Evil (not the movie) Baker: Speak no Evil And the Cubs would not be worthy of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog of "pooping" on them,
  10. You guys are no fun. Where's Andres Galaragga? Or Marvin Bernard? Or Armando Benitez? I mean....come on dude.....old people deserves playing time, too.
  11. Yes. No matter how you slice it drafting Colvin was pretty much a waste. Wow. I understand we reached for him, but give the kid a couple years before you call him a "waste." Agreed. 12. I don't think Guillen would be pronouncing "Cardinals" correctly. He'd prolly be calling them, what he call Jay Mariotti.
  13. If you want horses, go and coach the Noo Yawk Yawnkees, or perhaps the Bastan Red Sachs. In Chicago you have to learn to coach colts, pony, and mules. is he telling us he's superman with that last one? i'm confused. No, he's telling you his "Lex Luthor," cause his team is definately the "Legion of Doom."
  14. You say "Len and Bob suck" yet, you like Thom Brenneman, who, IMO, was widely consider the worst broadcaster in Cubs history...right there with Losh Lewin. Len and Bob, is prolly the best tandem WGN could had gotten (even tho, they wanted Dan O'Brien). Only problem is...Len and Bob will prolly be fired after the season, and replace with Joe Carter and Josh Lewin.
  15. I personally believe that Baker has a laundry list of "excuses" taped to his door. That way it saves him from having to think after the games.
  16. So within the last 5 yrs, TLR and the Cards have accused the Cubs, the Red Sox, AND the White Sox of cheating? Am I correct? Man, is it me or has the Cards become a VERY PARANOID franchise? Everybody is OUT to get the Cardinals according to Tony. My MONEY is on Tony LaRussa being the "Cardinal source."
  17. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/the-real-chase I mean, forget Bonds chasing Aaraon, we have Perez chasing Ski Melillo for WORST player in MLB history. With Baker at the helm, he has a chance. Go Nefti, go after history, like you go after curveballs in the dirt.
  18. I just found an old Sprts Illustrated(THE CURSE LIVES) that has a cover story of Wood and Prior. On the front cover it has Wood/Prior with close ups, with the caption of "Chicago Heat." My question is....."should I throw the magazine away?"
  19. Fixed! Fixed. (SCREAMS LOUDLY)
  20. Fixed Fundamentals? :-k What's that?
  21. No way dude. I don't care that the Cubs arep ushing 20 games under .500 and 14 games behind the division leader, this is the team that is still "in it to win it." v (END sarcasm) Do ANYBODY actually see Hendry pull a "clean house" tatic? If you do, pass whatever you have around the table.
  22. I'm pretty sure they skipped Prior because a) they didnt want to pay the 10 million dollar signing bonus and b) Joe Mauer was the golden boy from St. Paul. If this were an alternate universe, Prior would be on the way to his 3rd Cy Young, and his second straight 300k season. But we have Dusty and Larry and Jimmy. They still had to pony up a very good deal for Mauer to sign with them. Remember Joe Mauer had a FOOTBALL SCHLARSHIP to be the QB for Bobby at Florida St. So they still had to convince Joe to sign. Wasn't necessarily hard, but still necessarily.
  23. Free Pauly Shores to everybody....whoo-eee I rather listen to Mariah Carey "attempt" to sign (she can't, but she can attempt), I rather see Louie Anderson and Richard Simmons "Do the hustle," I would rather see Paris Hilton hold a "real job," (she sucks at everything.... ) Then watch the Cubs play cricket, I mean baseball. And that makes me sad.
