  3. Did you get your kicks? I used to live on Route 66. I always got my kicks. :) Gonna swing by LA or just head back east from the Imperial Valley, Fred?
  4. Eric Patterson is one of 10 Futures Game participants who will take place in the AFL. BA lists their 10 prospects to watch (more like 13) in the AFL in today's Daily Dish (no Cubs mentioned).
  5. Sean Marshall's second inning: Jason Hart walks. Aarom Baldris singles to LF, Hart to second. Tim Gregorio grounds into a 5-4-3 DP. Hart to third. Drew Meyer grounds out, 1-3. 6. Won't have enough minor league innings when the season is over.

  8. Any ideas when those rosters come out? Here are our players going to instructs: Jesse Estrada, Fabien Jimenez, Mark Reed, Yusuf Carter and Kyle Reynolds. Matt Avery was also on the original list but had already signed up for and paid for classes to finish up at UVA so I believe he is going back to school instead of instructs. Thanks for the heads up on the instructs. The Hawaii Winter League site says rosters will be announced in September but offers no date. I can think of a couple guys at Daytona who might go, not sure about Peoria, though.
  9. I didn't even know OF was an option. Are the Cubs thinking of moving him? He's played a couple of games in the OF recently (partly due to a lack of depth with the Jaxx), but he's listed as a C on the AFL roster. The Indians' Trevor Crowe, who's converting from OF to 2B, is listed as a 2B on the AFL roster.
  10. Last year, NSBB awarded its first ever Minor League Player of the Year award to second baseman Eric Patterson. We will continue that tradition this year by naming one minor leaguer the NSBB 2006 Player of the Year and donating $100 to Cubs Care or the charity of choice for that player (last year, Eric donated his $100 to Hurricane Relief fund). The minor league teams have less than three weeks left in their regular seasons, so we'll be getting started on this right away. The process will be similar to last year. Please make your case for your favorite player in this nomination thread. A poll will then be created, the membership voting will count for 50%. For now, the exact times aren't confirmed for both the nomination and voting process, but will be shortly. The same group that was asked to put together the preseason minor league top 30 will get together as a "panel of experts" to vote. Their votes will also count for 50%. In the case of a split decision, Tim will cast the tiebreaking vote based upon the input from the above processes. Thanks in advance for your participation! 11. BA with all six teams' rosters in a much more user-friendly format. As they noted, way more pitching prospects than in past years. Will be interesting to see with A-ball players the Cub will send to Hawaii.
  12. I don't understand. Neifi doesn't respect rookies?
  13. Sam Keller quits the team at ASU.
  14. It was manager Buddy Bailey's 1200th minor league victory: Daytona moves to second place with the win, but remain 1.5 back of St. Lucie for first place.
  15. Ooo, Yovani Gallardo. Should be fun...
  16. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Sean Marshall (rehab; 0-1, 8.31 ERA) vs. LHP John Danks (3-4, 4.63 ERA) West Tenn: LHP Issac Pavlik (1-0, 2.63 ERA) vs. RHP Yovani Gallardo (4-2, 1.44 ERA) Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (6-6, 4.37 ERA) Boise: LHP Mark Pawelek (2-4, 2.66 ERA) @ RHP Kyle Rogers (1-1, 3.00 ERA) Mesa: LHP Taylor Paker (1-2, 2.47 ERA) & RHP Rafael Dolis (0-2, 8.22 ERA) Marshall: 8.2 IP, 8/9, 1.73 WHIP Pavlik: 24 IP, 19/8, 1.29 WHIP Berg: 105 IP, 78/50, 1.53 WHIP Pawelek: 40.2 IP, 35/16, 11 HBP, 1.23 WHIP Parker: 43.2 IP, 28/9, 1.17 WHIP Dolis: 23 IP, 29/15, 1.83 WHIP
  17. Yup. Makes sense, although I hadn't thought of him...I was thinking of Phelps or Fuld from Daytona.
  18. Yikes, Boise gives up 3 in the 9th but holds on to win it 6-5. I'll get the box posted in a bit...
  19. The AFL season starts on October 10th. Kc, I wonder if Grant's slider will ever come back to it's pre-surgery levels.
  20. At this point, his defense is worse than Barrett's. 20 passed balls is awful.
  21. Some nice pitching on the Mesa Solar Sox (full roster here) with the guys from the Cubs: LHP Scott Elbert, LA Dodgers RHP Phil Humber, NY Mets RHP Kevin Slowey, Minnesota
  22. LHP Carmen Pignatiello - Iowa RHP Grant Johnson - Daytona RHP Lincoln Holdzkom - West Tenn LHP Clay Rapada (good call, kc) - Iowa C Jake Fox (good call, splendid splinter) - West Tenn 3B Scott Moore - West Tenn 2B Eric Patterson - Iowa
