  1. I'm guessing Rex has looked much better so far today than last week.
  2. I can watch a Bears game! :D
  3. Iowa is scoreless in the bottom of the 1st. Felix Pie: 1 for 1, double. West Tenn is losing 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st. Federico Baez gave up an unearned run, thanks in part to his throwing error. Daytona trails it 2-1 after 4. Ryan Harvey: 1 for 2, RBI infield single. Mark Holliman: 4 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 4 K. Peoria is losing 1-0 in the middle of the 2nd.
  4. Damien Miller had the magical ability to keep pitcher's healthy? (Ignoring that Z has improved since 2003.)
  5. Boise wins it 5-1. Matt Camp (3 for 4, 3 runs, 2 doubles, RBI), Tyler Colvin (3 for 4, 1 double, 2 RBI) and Steve Clevenger (2 for 3, RBI, BB) led the way offensively. Muldowney started and went 4 shutout innings.
  6. In an afternoon game in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Boise leads Vancouver 5-1 in the bottom of the 9th.
  7. Jim Callis chat at BA: A few guys who might be in the 07 draft: And the Smoak in 08 hype continues:
  8. Jim Callis chat at BA: And of course, the mandatory Jessica Alba reference in a Jim Callis chat:
  9. Is this a one-time thing or will it be this way every Friday?
  10. Actually, it's Calexico, down below the Salton Sea.... but I'm pretty sure I'll be over in Metro LA to reload Monday afternoon. Heh, I used to live in El Centro for a year or so. Enjoy the 115+ degree heat. :) Yeah.... I've seen more than my fair share of extreme heat the last 3 weeks. What're ya gonna do ?? edit: come to think of it.... you ever been to Minot, ND in January ?? No, but with my affinity for really cold weather, I'm guessing I wish I had. I was there one night years ago when your spit would freeze before it hit the ground. They tell me that doesn't happen until it gets about 40 below. Whatever, I don't ever want to experience that again !! Psh, that happens all the time here in LA. In the summer.
  11. While listening to Daytona's game today, one of their announcers said Harvey had been much more patient lately and was showing more plate discipline.
  12. Holliman previously topped out at 113 IPs (college) in '05 and is currently at 127. I don't believe in absolutes in pitch counts or innings. But Holliman was cruising earlier and then hit a wall for awhile, and it wouldn't surprise me if part of that was because he's pitching more innings at a higher level than he has before. Pitching a full season is not easy. Agreed, and that fits with what some scouts who have projected him as a big league reliever have said. But he's had 2 good starts in a row (8/12: 6.1 IP, 1 ER, 5/1; 8/7: 7 IP, 3 ER, 5/1). I'm sure Billy would be starting if he did come off the DL. I doubt he's right with the possibility that he'll come off today, though.
  13. In Jose Ceda's last 26 IP: 1.73 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, .188 BAA, 41 K, 13 BB. Ceda as a Cub: 8 IP, 1.13 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, .188 BAA, 15 K, 3 BB. Ceda is 5th in the AZL with his 46 Ks. Mark Holliman's 108 Ks is good for a tie at 4th in the FSL.
  14. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Randy Wells (4-3, 4.88 ERA; overall: 8-5, 3.02 ERA) @ RHP Jared Gothreaux (5-9, 4.62 ERA) WT: RHP Federico Baez (2-1, 2.05 ERA; overall: 2-4, 2.83 ERA) vs. RHP Jose Oyervidez (4-11, 3.94 ERA) Daytona: RHP Mark Holliman (7-10, 4.33 ERA) Peoria: LHP Fabian Jiminez (0-1, 31.50 ERA; overall: 6-8, 4.47 ERA) @ LHP Mike Wlodarczyk (7-9, 3.65 ERA) Boise: RHP Billy Muldowney (0-2, 2.55 ERA) Mesa: RHP Jose Ceda: (0-0, 1.13 ERA; overall: 2-0, 4.06 ERA) & RHP Robert Hernandez (4-1, 2.10 ERA) Wells (at Iowa & West Tenn): 110.1 IP, 94/25, 1.17 WHIP Baez (at Iowa & West Tenn): 82.2 IP, 65/26, 1.17 WHIP Holliman: 126.2 IP, 108/54, 1.32 WHIP Jiminez (Peoria, Boise & Ft. Wayne): 106.2 IP, 65/59, 1.50 WHIP Muldowney: 24.2 IP, 26/4, 1.18 WHIP Ceda (Mesa & AZL Peoria): 31 IP, 46/16, 1.29 WHIP Hernandez: 30 IP, 13/13, 1.30 WHIP
  15. Mike Cooper's bottom of the 12th: Mendez strikes out looking. One out. Cobb grounds out, 5-3. Two outs. Hernandez strikes out swining. Boise wins it 7-6!
  16. In the top of the 12th inning, Josh Lansford reaches on an E-5 (fielding) and scores on a Russ Canzler double. Boise up 7-6. We go to the bottom of the 12th inning...
  17. Ryan Roquet and Boise blew a 6-3 lead in the 9th inning and the game is now tied at 6 in the 10th. Huh, they switched Bernard's run to an earned run. Mesa loses 6-2. Rundle goes 0 for 4 with 4 strikeouts. Andersen goes 2 for 4 with a double and no strikeouts and now has a higher BA than Rundle (.240 to .230).
  18. Boise up 5-1 after 6. Papelbon with 4 Ks and a BB in 1.1 innings. It's now 6-2 after 7, Mesa is losing. Rundle is 0 for 3 with 3 Ks. Oscar Bernard came in for the 7th inning and gave up an unearned run.
  19. Thomas Atlee gives up 3 in the top of the 9th and West Tenn loses 6-5. :( Peoria wins 7-2.
  20. That's what they had earlier for Rafael too. In one of your posts on the last page you had him at 3IP, I figured they made the error and changed it before I refreshed so I never noticed. Oh whoops, it was always 2...that was a typo on my part. Pawelek's Fifth Inning: Pawelek vs. Perez: Strike 1 looking. Ball 1 low. Strike 2 looking. Flyout to RF. One out. Pawelek: vs. Affronti: Strike 1 looking. Fouled back, strike 2. Fouled back, still 0-2. Barely fouled off, still 0-2. Ball 1 inside (fastball). Ball 2 inside. Groundout, 6-3. Two outs. Pawelek vs. Mendez: Double in the gap in left center field. Pawelek vs. Cobb: Ball 1 high. Fouled off, strike 1. Ball 2 high and inside. Strike 2 swinging. Ball 3 inside. Basehit to CF. Mendez scores (catcher Canepa drops it, Mendez would have been out by a mile). Pawelek vs. Hernandez: Shows bunt, takes ball 1. Ball 2. Ball 3. Strike1 looking. Strike 2 looking. Lined foul down the right side. Ball 4. Bases on balls. Pawelek vs. Dowling: Ball 1, Cobb and Hernandez steal second and third. Ball 2. Ball 3 high. Ball four. Bases on balls. That's it for Mark Pawelek. He leaves the bases loaded and Jeremy Papelbon is coming in. Papelbon vs. Valdez: Ball 1 high and outside. Ball 2 inside. Ball 3 high and inside. Strike 1 looking. Strike 2 looking. Strike 3 swinging!!!! All three inherited runners are stranded! Mark: 4.2 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 1 K, 81 pitches (49 strikes). 6 GO - 7 FO. Boise leads it 5-2 after 5.
  21. That's what they had earlier for Rafael too.
