  1. In his most recent blog, Dierker referred to BA with RISP a "dubious" stat. My love for the man in Hawaiian shirts grows daily. Good Kent, how I wish he would run this organization!) But Hendry and his Hawaiian shirts already runs this organization!
  2. Good outing for Sean, still would like to see those walks a bit lower. But he, like Donnie Veal, seems to be doing really well despite the walk rates. Ron was talking about seeing Gallagher and Veal on the team to start next season. That'd be a hell of a 1-2 punch in a minor league rotation.
  3. One of the posters in this thread is a scout for a big league teams. :)
  4. Haha, that was awesome. The bunt was too frustrating. His April 05 and end of 2004 were ridiculous.
  5. Good, just in time for the other games to finish. Thanks for the heads up...
  6. Wow, do you watch games? as for OBP being important, it is the single whole belief of the A's system to 9 OBP monsters...and exactly how many World Series' have they played in with that philosophy??? scoring runs matters, the other team not scoring runs matters more. OBP matters little. Without getting on base a team isn't likely to score too many runs. Having 9 OBP monsters without guys with good SLG isn't a great strategy, but having very little OBP is a worse one. The A's don't have 9 OBP monsters in their lineup (part of their problem in recent years). The Red Sox and Yankees of recents years have won World Series with great lineups with OBP and SLG (obviously many of the better power hitters have good OBPs too).
  7. Peoria loses 6-3, they got 1 in the ninth. Reynolds was 2 for 4 with a triple, Mark Reed was 2 for 3 with a walk. Boise loses 4-2.
  8. Peoria down 6-2 in the 9th. Vancouver jumps ahead of Boise on a 2-run HR in the 8th inning of Alessandro Maestri. :( To the 9th we go, Boise down 4-2.
  9. Sorry, I couldn't resist the screaming fans.
  10. Wow, that was one hell of a thunderbolt. I LOVED how all the kids started screaming in fear. Rain delay in Jackson...
  11. Why wouldn't you want the rest of the team to get on base well? That'll give more opportunities to score runs.
  12. Ron, the thunder-lightning difference works out more like 5 miles per second between the lightning and hearing the thunder clap. Hope we won't have to deal with any major delays. West Tenn in the top of the fourth. Sean: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K. ---- Peoria down 4-2 in the top of the 8th. Boise tied at 2 in the top of the 7th.
  13. West Tenn is scoreless in the top of the third. The Jaxx had the bases loaded with 1 out in the 2nd and came away with nothing. Sean Gallagher: 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 K. Peoria now down 4-2 in the bottom of the 6th. Blackford's final line: 5 IP, 4 R, 2 ER, 8 H, 1 BB, 5 K. Boise still knotted up with Vancouver at 2 after 5. Pina's final line: 4.2 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 K.
  14. Daytona lost 6-1. Harvey went 1 for 4 with a double and did not strike out (on a day when the D-Cubs got 8 Ks).
  15. I disagree. Robinson certainly is a nice prospect, but I prefer Ceda. Without a doubt.
  16. West Tenn is scoreless in the 2nd. Daytona is down 6-0 in the 8th. Harvey is 0 for 3 with 0 Ks. Peoria is down 3-2 in the 5th. Boise and Vancouver are tied at 2 in the 5th inning. Boise scored both their runs on the same play - with runners at the corners, the Vancouver catcher throws the ball away as Colvin steals 2nd. This allows Matulia to score from 3rd. The CF then threw the ball away to allow Colvin to score. Tyler Colvin is 1 for 2 with a strikeout.
  17. Whomever this guy is who is saying Neifi is better than Jeter ( !) should immediately replace Walt Jocketty.
  18. Iowa wins it 5-1. They added 2 in the bottom of the 8th on a Jesse Hoorelbeke 2-run HR. Bynum and Pie's final lines are right, EPatt got one more AB and got a single. He ended the day 2 for 4. Daytona is down 4-0 in the 5th. Ryan Harvey is 0 for 2. Peoria is down 1-0 after 1. Todd Blackford gives up an ER in the top of the 1st.
  19. Iowa up 3-1 in the middle of the 8th. Felix Pie: 1 for 4, 2 strikeouts. Freddie Bynum: 1 for 2, RBI, replaced defensively in the 5th inning. Eric Patterson: 1 for 3, RBI single Daytona is down 4-0 in the top of the 5th.
  20. Yeah, the rumor was out late last week that the Giants had signed him. He is a hitter, and in fact, plays third base.
  21. Probably... An interview with Jim Hendry in the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Easily the highlight:
