  1. That's only part of the article. Harvey also talks about his 4-HR game, what he's talked to Brian Dopirak about during his struggles and how he impressed Jim Hendry in a recent game by going oppo on a 2-strike slider. There was even a pic: http://www.news-journalonline.com/downloads/Sptcubsharvey083106.jpg
  2. Standings: PCL American North Nashville 75-64 .540 - Iowa 72-67 .518 3.0 --- 5 games remaining SL North Huntsville 38-25 .603 - Chattanooga* 35-30 .538 4.0 --- 5 games remaining Tennessee 35-30 .538 4.0 If Chattanooga wins the SL North again, the Diamond Jaxx will make the playoffs. FSL East Palm Beach 34-27 .557 - --- 5 games remaining for all 3 teams Daytona 35-28 .556 - --- St. Lucie* 35-30 .528 1.0 Peoria already clinched a playoff spot by winning the MWL North in the first half. Boise's magic number is 4: NWL East Boise 40-29 .580 - --- 7 games remaining (including 6 against Tri-City) Tri-City 35-34 .507 5.0 *First-half division winner.
  3. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Jerome Williams (5-6, 4.61 ERA) @ LHP Eric Knott (9-7, 3.35 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Sean Gallagher (7-4, 2.72 ERA; overall: 11-4, 2.51 ERA) Daytona: RHP Mark Holliman (7-11, 4.51 ERA) Peoria: RHP Todd Blackford (9-9, 5.53 ERA) vs. RHP Roman Martinez (2-6, 3.56 ERA) Boise: RHP Jake Renshaw (0-2, 5.84 ERA, 4 IP; 0-3, 5.67 ERA) vs. RHP Mike Wagner (3-6, 5.86 ERA) Williams: 105.1 IP, 104 K/59 BB Gallagher (at West Tenn & Daytona): 157.2 IP, 162/74 Holliman: 137.2 IP, 118/56 Blackford: 135 IP, 68/60 Renshaw (Boise & Mesa): 33.1 IP, 26/10
  4. Oh wow, Tyler Colvin's grand slam was of the inside-the-park variety (the OFs collided). Colvin has hit a HR in each of the last 3 games.
  5. The Cubs acquired Barrett a few weeks after they acquired Lee.
  6. The Diamondbacks feel differently. Those two teams should be fun to watch for the next half decade.
  7. There are other positives about letting Pierre go. Point taken, lawl.
  8. That series was hands-down the most exciting regular season series I've ever watched. - Game 1, Cubs lose 13-11 even though they make an 8th and 9th inning push. Sammy hits 59. - Game 2, Cubs win 15-12 thanks to an RBI single from Tyler Houston and a walk-off HR from Orlando freaking Merced. Sammy hits 60. - Game 3, Cubs win 11-10 in extra innings thanks to a walkoff HR from Mark Grace. Sammy hits 61 and 62. The late-season additions of Gary Gaetti and GlenAllen deserve special mention. The Karchner for Garland trade on the other hand we probably want back. Probably?
  9. I don't know much about his breaking stuff (I'll watch the game video from Boise's web site sometime tomorrow...hopefully will learn more from that). He is 19, does have a mid-90s FB and is missing a lot of bats...probably somewhere 10-15.
  10. Ceda in the Cubs system: 21 IP, 2.14 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, .145 BAA, 31 K, 9 BB, 1 HR. Overall: 44 IP, 3.68 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, .195 BAA, 62 K, 22 BB, 2 HR. Not bad. :)
  11. Canzler has had a hell of a season (league rank in parenthesis): .270/.326 (meh)/.563 (3rd)/.889 (5th), 16 HR (1st), 19 2B (1st), 4 3B (3rd, Colvin's 1st), 39 XBH (1st), 58 RBI (1st). Between Canzler, Colvin, Joseph and some others, Boise has a great offense (2nd best in the NWL in most stats). And Pawelek-Muldowney-Ceda should be a good rotation. Of course, Salem-Keizler is 50-18, and are 8-2 against the Hawks, so the things will be stacked against Boise all the same.
  12. Ceda's 5th: Groundout, 6-3. K looking. BB on 4 pitches. K swinging on 3 pitches 5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 HBP, 1 BB, 6 K. This is Ceda's longest outing of the season (anywhere, including AZL Peoria, AZL Mesa and Boise). I don't think he'll be out there for the 6th, Boise has Jeremy Papelbon up in the pen. Either way, I have to go now, hopefully Boise/Ceda keep it up. Boise up 2-0.
  13. RUSS CANZLER! HOMERUN #16...OFF THE SCOREBOARD! He now has the record for most HRs in a season by a Boise Hawk, breaking Todd Greene's mark of 15 in 1993. He also has the NWL lead in HRs again. Boise up 2-0 after 4.
  14. Iowa up 3-2 in the 9th. Pie: 1/3, K, SB. EPatt: 2/3, BB, K, SB. Peoria down 7-6 in the bottom of the 6th. Ceda's 4th inning: K swinging. Foul pop out to the catcher. Pop out to the SS (on a 3-0 count  ). 4 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 HBP, 4 K. Boise is scoreless in the bottom of the 4th.
  15. Mesa loses 5-0, they get no-hit for the second time this season (that's one way to end your season). They struck out a combined 14 times! Andersen and Valentin did walk once each.
  16. Ceda: 3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 HBP, 3 K. That game is scoreless as we go to the bottom of the 3rd. Ceda's third inning: HBP CS GO, 3-unassisted An out, somehow...
  17. Ceda's first inning: Flyout to RF. Strikeout swinging. Groundout, 6-3. Ceda's second inning: Strikeout swinging. IF single on a chopper that bounced over Ceda. Strikeout looking. Flyout to shallow LF. Ceda: 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 3 K. ------ Iowa up 3-2 after 6. Peoria down 7-4 after 5.
  18. Thanks to a strong wind blowing in, Tyler Colvin is robbed of a HR to deep LF. Woulda been gone on a normal day. By the way, that wind is going to help get wind chills in the 40s towards the end of the Boise game.
  19. Ceda with a 1-2-3 first inning, got a K along the way. Oooo, listen in to tomorrow's Hawks pre-game show - Oneri Fleita was interviewed (it was done today, but due to technical difficulties, they couldn't air it). Iowa up 3-1 in the 5th, EPatt went 2 for 2 with a BB. Mesa's offense is again being no-hit, so far through 6. They're down 2-0.
  20. Huh, didn't realize they had already started. I think Huseby's season is over, I doubt they bump him up to Boise. 3 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 4 K, HR. Not bad, imo, especially after the last two outings. Carrillo's night is over in Peoria and his final line is in my previous post.
  21. Iowa and Oklahoma tied at 1 after three. Pie: 0/1, K EPatt: 1/1, R, BB, SB Carrillo is getting HAMMERED: 3 IP, 6 R, 5 ER, 7 H, 1 BB, 1 K Peoria down 6-3.
  22. In the 2nd, the game is tied up at 3 on a Robinson Chirinos 3-run HR. Carrillo with a rough 2nd inning: 2 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 H, BB, K.
