  1. PCL: Iowa down 1-0 in the 4th. Pie: 1/1 EPatt: 0/2 Nashville and Albuquerque are just underway in the New Mexico high desert.
  2. Wow, the NU-Miami (OH) game is scoreless at halftime.
  3. FSL: Daytona gives up a run in the top of the 7th and is now down 1-0 in the bottom of the 7th. St. Lucie rained out, will play a DH tomorrow. Palm Beach losing 3-0 to Jupiter in the 6th. Remember, due to the uneven schedule in the FSL thanks to the rainouts the D-Cubs wouldn't make the playoffs if they tied Palm Beach because of the percentage points.
  4. Randall Simon wasn't much of a power guy. He was in '03 when he was with the Cubs. Sammy was the only Cub who had a better homerun per plate appearance ratio that year. He was behind Aramis too (15 HR, 232 AB). But I was referring more to his SLG. That HR in Game 3 was awesome, though. But nothing beats Sammy's HRs in Games 1 and 2 and Kerry's HR in Game 7 (:().
  5. Tavarez is starting for the Sox. I think the deal to the Padres is done, but they can't send Kottaras (at least not now) since he's on the 40-man and would never clear waivers. Probably going to be a PTBNL. That's not Julian Tavarez you're talking about, is it? Yes indeed.
  6. ESPN: Slumping Red Sox Send Wells to San Diego
  7. Thanks, Dobby. From the same link: Blake Parker's stats weren't exactly awe-inspring. Even though he missed half the AZL season, Hank Conger probably deserved to make the team as a catcher. Apparently Ryan Harvey made the FSL All-Star team.
  8. If true, I think Outshined and I deserve kudos for calling it. Vance was pretty vocal in his belief that Mulder's hip injury would hurt him in the long run as well. You're right, I remember that. Kudos to Vance too!
  9. Ryan Bicondoa starting today for Daytona, it looks like - due to Ernesto - they're skipping Mark Holliman and Carlos Perez. Chris Robinson, the catcher acquired for Neifi Perez, was the FSL Offensive Player of the Week last week (in his first week with Daytona).
  10. He sounds like a more athletic version of Dopirak. Yes, we should be. How old is he? Any chance he can bring that OBP up? Russ is 20, drafted in the 30th round out of HS and known for his power when he was drafted. He spent the last two seasons at Mesa. I hope he can bring the OBP up, he's going to have to to survive at higher levels.
  11. If true, I think Outshined and I deserve kudos for calling it.
  12. Is that avatar big enough, catman?
  13. Neither are pitching today, but oh well. The only Cubs question in yesterday's Callis chat (and it's a no-brainer answer):
  14. The Jim Callis quote: I guess we'll see, been hearing rumblings about this move for a while...
  15. That car accident could be a blessing in disguise since it discovered the lymph nodes.
  16. That was quite an ignorant post. The thread started with a question, should the Cubs go for another reclamation project. He did not create a "let's get Mulder thread". Why do we want another reclmation project: When we have: Prior Wood(ole, Jimmy has visions of Wood still dancing thru his head...maybe as a dominant closer) Miller(Jimmy's cocky and Miller will be back so he can prove it was worth a gamble) Is there anyone else we can nuture back? People need to stop with this "reclemation project" crap. Get a freaking pitcher that can give you innings. Man, the Cardinals were so stupid to go after that reclamation project Chris Carpenter. I personally would pass on Mulder because I don't think his velo is coming back - even to the levels they were at during his last days in Oakland/early days in STL.
  17. No sign of weight problems yet, but it certainly is possible down the road.
  18. Here we go But really, I never get tired of the first one. :)
  19. I've preferred Von and would love for him to be the Cubs' next hitting instructor. But Zisk is pretty good. Despite the Dark-Age idea that middle-of-the-order hitters need to be aggressive at all costs? Where did he say that? He said he'd prefer teaching patience to an aggressive hitter than vice versa. He also said the Cubs weren't going to pay Harvey to walk (duh).
  20. I've preferred Von and would love for him to be the Cubs' next hitting instructor. But Zisk is pretty good. Him or Dickerson have to be #2 behind Joshua.
