From reading the Daily Herald and Sun-Times, it doesn't appear as though the Cubs have contacted Girardi yet, just that Hendry is saying he's a strong candidate. Some stuff about how long it might take to get Girardi:

I've heard Girardi and Kranitz have a great relationship and Girardi gives Kranitz a lot of the credit for the Marlins' rookie pitcher's success. And there's another reason for not getting Piniella...don't want Rothschild back.
