  1. Hah, I knew that! Jackson ahead of Main?
  2. Might as well make this an all things Cubs prospects-related thread:
  3. What type of contract do you see Edmonds getting?
  4. His K numbers should go up the longer he's in the big leagues - I didn't realize he had so few strikeouts this year. Verlander had good strikeout totals at Old Dominion (K/9: 10.91, 10.75, 12.86) and in the minors last season (10.36). I didn't realize he had so few strikeouts this year.
  5. Just because he's going to be better than Juan Pierre doesn't mean it's a selling point. And of course people are going to be concerned about an aging player who has had his production go down drastically over the course of the past two seasons (and who has been injured too).
  6. Terry Francona. Brad Mills. Hitting Coach: Ron Jackson (so probably not Francona)
  7. Apparently there's some friction between the former Jaxx and the Chattanooga Lookouts over Homer Bailey's beaning Chris Walker:
  8. 10/4: Koerber pitched a shutout 8th inning: 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 K/2 BB, 32 pitches (17 strikes). Koerber vs. West Oahu in the 8th inning: J. Ford walks. J. Mayberry walks, Ford to second base. M. Stodolka strikes out looking. One out. J. Whittleman grounds a single to LF, bases loaded. E. Frostad strikes out looking. Two outs. S. Kazmar grounds out, 5-3. Koerber so far in Hawaii: 3 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 K/2 BB.
  9. The Kent Mercker page has no sponsor? Wow.
  10. The Padres try to fight off elimination in St. Louis and find an offense. RHP Chris Young (11-5, 3.46 ERA, 164 K/69 BB) @ RHP Jeff Suppan (12-7, 4.12 ERA, 104/69). The Padres might also look into not pitching to Albert Pujols.
  11. The Tigers look to wrap up the upset in Detroit, they lead the series 2-1. RHP Jaret Wright (11-7, 4.49 ERA, 84 K/57 BB) @ RHP Jeremy Bonderman (14-8, 4.08 ERA, 202/64).
  12. It's a battle of the ex-Cubs today in Los Angeles, RHP Steve Tracshel (15-8, 4.97 ERA, 79 K/78 BB) vs. RHP Greg Maddux (15-14, 4.20 ERA, 117/37). Mets lead the series 2-0. Game is at 4:30 pm PT, 6:30 CT.
  13. SCHWARZ: Of course, Joel throws harder in his first 20 pitches, while Justin, you'd throw harder after 100 pitches. So here's the question--on pitch No. 50, who's the harder thrower? VERLANDER: We were about even as starters. ZUMAYA: Definitely. As a starter me and Verlander were practically the same. We would throw 96, 97, and next thing you know, seventh inning comes around we'll pop one or two in there that says 100 or 99. VERLANDER: I wouldn't mind coming in as a reliever to see if I could do it.
  14. Wow, I didn't realize Guillen had such a good season.
  15. Wow, Derek Jeter gets the walk on strike 4. Great game for Kenny.
  16. Yeah, my friend got home game #2 too.
  17. I got home game #3 - which isn't guaranteed. it would be game 5 against the yankees or game 6 against the tigers. terrible managing by gardenhire in my opinion. you have to get nathan into the game there with the bases loaded instead of crain. Agreed. The season is on the line, put your best pitcher in there. Agreed. This is the guy who made Nathan pitch 2+ (~50 pitches) against the Yanks in '04. I don't like Gardenhire's in-game decision-making much. He just makes you scratch your head.
  18. My old roommate got tix for the ALCS today too. He's so pumped.
  19. Freaking BA. Who give a crap about the Black Eyed Peas, answer one of my questions instead. I sent a similar question as yours, kc, about Moore-EPatt.
