  1. ND won't play like that again (except maybe against USC) and Michigan won't play that well against a good team again this season.
  2. I think it had to do with the questioning over the quality of his FB. I think alot of people thought it topped at 89-91 and that wouldn't cut it in the big leagues. I don't know where that came from though. I thought it had more to do with the fact that at the time batters were crushing every fastball he threw. I don't understand the FB velocity bit, since an 89-91 mph FB is good for a lefty (and he threw harder). The bit about crushing his FB comes from what cubfan1955 says below - basically poor location/control/command. Something I felt was fixable. Earlier he wasn't throwing his curve for strikes and hitters were sitting on his fastabll. Major league hitters can hit a 92 mph fastball when they are looking for it. His effectiveness lately comes from the fact that hitters have not been able to sit on his fastball because he is throwing his curve for strikes and that big slow curveball that is dropping in for strikes makes that 92 mph fastball look like it's 102 mph. As long as he can throw his curves for strikes he should be able to keep hitters off balance. So it wasn't the fact he was a one pitch pitcher it was that he was a pitcher that at the time only had one effective pitch working for him...and he was having trouble controlling that one.
  3. I'm sure he will, since he already has done it once out of all of Hill's starts.
  4. Wow, how sad. I hope she recovers. It's been a tough year for Derrek. :( Geez, it's one thing with the on-field injuries, but Glendon's lungs situation and this are so scary.
  5. Nice to see Ced out there and doing well.
  6. If - and its a big if - things go right, ND could possibly have a chance to get in as a one loss team. I think this year may only see one undefeated team in OSU, WVU, or LU and all of those teams have a game or two they could easily lose. Of course its a long shot but I have to remain somewhat optimistic :D By LU I'm assuming you mean Louisville. WVU and LU still have to play each other this year so that eliminates one of them. And since you are assuming Notre Dame finishes with one loss, that means USC will lose a game. Aside from Ohio State (who I think will beat Michigan and run the table) the team(s) you are forgetting is the winner of the Auburn/Florida game. I think a one-loss Notre Dame could jump ahead of an undefeated WVU or Louisville because of the strength of schedule but they will not jump ahead of an undefeated SEC team. Well I did consider those two teams but since Florida also has Georgia, LSU and FSU and Auburn has has to play Georgia as well, if Florida can beat Auburn and either LSU, FSU, or Georgia beat Florida, my plan will work. Like it said, it is pretty unlikely but figuring out stuff like this gives me more teams to root for every weekend. Yeah, the SEC keeps beating up on itself. But a 1-loss SEC team is more likely to get in than Notre Dame. Plus, I think ND is going to lose to USC.
  7. Wow. This is what I like seeing when I get back. :D
  8. You guys should play Colorado.
  9. I don't want to pile on here or anything, I'm just curious why some of you figured he was a one-pitch pitcher?
  10. Wow, Florida came back to take a 21-20 lead with 5 mins left in the fourth quarter.
  11. I'm concerned too. And I'm also concerned about his health - back injuries scare me.
  12. Tennessee pulling away too, 17-7 over Florida.
  13. Yeesh, that fumble really hurts Nebraska. 21-3 USC.
  14. I wish the Cubs would just shut down Z for the year. :(
  15. Geez. ASU still up only 14-3 in the 4th quarter. Colorado went for a 62-yard FG and missed (way short), but got a penalty. So he tries a 57-yard FG and misses it wide left (was long enough). Tennessee up 10-7 at the half, USC up 14-3 at the half.
  16. Wowow. Back-to-back TDs on back-to-back plays called back in the Florida-Tennessee game. First the punt return by Florida for an illegal block. Then a pick-6 by Tennesse called back for a roughing the passer penalty.
  17. I'm having a tough time switching between Florida-Tennesse and Nebraska-USC. :(
  18. USC up now 7-3 on the Booty to Jarrett touchdown. Dwayne Jarrett broke Mike Williams' record for touchdowns at USC.
  19. Ugh. Senior Ryan Poudrell carted off the field for USC (looks like a knee injury).
  20. Games would never end if you could review penalties.
  21. ASU only up 7-3 on Colorado after one quarter.
