  1. Wright and Reyes are the core of those good players, who happen to be extremely good and come from within and currently underpaid for their production. Their value allows the Mets to pay FA prices for Beltran and surround him with very good players. Exactly. Spend more money on player development too!
  2. helllloooooooo, meaningless statements! Dusty would be proud. Old school? Did Green want to run Edge 50 times?
  3. You can't try and get away from the things you've never been near. 3-run homers are good things. Sac bunts and making things happen waste outs and decrease your run totals, and are therefore bad things. Thank you. I wanted to respond with exactly that, but didn't want to open a whole can of worms in this thread. Waiting for the 3 run homer is what I wish we'd do (or the 2 run double). If you have guys who get on base and hit for power, there would be plenty of opportunities for it, and you'll win plenty of games doing it. Didnt the Cubs live and die by the long ball in 04? Didnt work. Only chance they had to win was win the wind was blowing out. Waiting on the 3-run homer is not smart. What happens when you dont have that 3-run homer? Then how are the Cubs going to win? Small ball to some on this site dosent work. Give me a balanced of attack on offense, a solid rotation, a deep bench, and a bullpen that can hold down the opponents in the late innings. Thats how Hendry should construct the 07 Cubs. What happens when you don't get the 3-run HR? You still have 2 guys on base.
  4. I don't need to see Benson run blocking at all. Oops, pass blocking.
  5. They were going to try to get a doubelheader for both stadiums, but it sounds like one game each has already been postponed.
  6. Not over the A's. He was ripping into "Moneyball" in the one of those ALCS games, don't know if he'd get along with Beane. I doubt he'll like playing second fiddle to Beane. And he'd want a bigger budget, that's why the Cubs job appealed to him.
  7. I laughed out loud.
  8. I'm so glad I don't post there. What a joke. You should post here more (just don't talk about the Sox too much :)).
  9. I hope the next two weeks are spent on teaching Cedric Benson run blocking because he sure as heck needs to be getting more touches than Thomas Jones.
  10. Truf, I'd normally agree with your on HFA being overrated, but with this particular Bears team, I don't think they can win a road playoff game unless the D pitches a shutout.
  11. If the Bears don't kill the 49ers coming off the bye week and their woeful performance in Glendale, then they need a few losses to spark them through the playoffs. And they need HFA in the NFC.
  12. Whad did Urlacher say? Grossman seemed to think the next two weeks would be spent addressing his poor play in the video room.
  13. Why not set aside some of this money to improve the farm system, especially in Asia and Latin America?
  14. Leones win 3-2, box: C H. Blanco 0/2, reached on an error - first game of the season
  15. The game is on FOX. My first FOX Bears game of the year, how fun. The NFL Network will re-air the MNF game on Thursday at 7 pm CT. I'll go out on a limb and say UMF will post a few pics of Nathan Vasher in this thread. :) http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20061017/capt.c47a0ab545274ea5891a164693b813f8.bears_cardinals_football_pnu118.jpg http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20061017/capt.b68613dc5a504968b28bc53ac76d5d79.bears_cardinals_football_pnu114.jpg http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/sp/getty/40/full.getty-71465343lb008_bears_cards_1_17_03_am.jpg
  16. It'll be up in a few minutes. The NFL Network will re-broadcast the game on Thursday at 7 pm CT. My goodness, the ABC crew was biased in favor of Leinart. How sickening.
  17. Walker certainly is an intriguing player. He has always had a bit too many problems making contact and his biggest issue was his age. But his age shouldn't be as big a problem if he has another good season, since he's up to AAA.
  18. If I'm not mistaken, EPatt hasn't seen time at SS since high school (if he has, it's been limited innings at Georgia Tech). It's a typo. Eric is a streaky hitter, but as Warpticon noted, he's not that much more streaky than most big league hitters.
  19. Mesa loses 11-4, box: 2B E. Patterson 1/4, R, BB (2), K (1), SB (1) DH S. Moore 1/4, R, RBI (4), BB (4), 2 K (6) C J. Fox 2/5, R, 2B (1) - picked off a baserunner at first base SP A. Harben 2 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 K/1 BB, 5 GO-0 FO Overall: Eric Patterson: 5/20, .250/.318/.300/.618, 1/1 SB Scott Moore: 3/18, .167/.318/.278/.596 Jake Fox: 5/14, .357/.357/.571/.928 Adam Harben: 4 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 4 K/1 BB, 6.75 ERA
  20. Great to hear, thanks for all your hard work! :)
  21. North Shore was rained out on Saturday and had their Sunday doubleheader postponed due to the two earthquakes on the big island. Tomorrow is an off day and Tuesday was supposed to be Koerber's day to pitch, but with two games cancelled/postponed, who knows what's going on.
  22. McNabb?
  23. Uhh, Rothschild is probably coming back since Sweet Lou looks like he'll be managing the Cubs.
  24. God himself could descend from heaven directly upon Wrigley to manage the Cubs and wouldn't be enough for some around here. That's some ridiculous hyperbole.
