  1. I'm guessing most of them would have gotten drunk irregardless and just checked NSBB because they knew the pending deadline. Normally they'd be wiser than to check out NSBB while drunk.
  2. I think you could apply that to just about every sports peson that has reported on the negiogiations. Yup. I think they were the two most recent ones, though.
  3. 1. JD Drew - CF 2. Assuming Daisuke isn't going to be a Cub, Jason Schmidt. 3. Ray Durham or Akinori Iwamura - 2B 4. Maybe a bottom of the rotation starter if he comes cheap (Kei Igawa?). Explore Miguel Cabrerra trade possibilities (don't think the Cubs have the assets for it). Extend Z.
  4. Alas, this does mean the Cubs can sign one fewer Type A free agent.
  5. Quick, take the article down, Tim! ;)
  6. So mlbtraderumors.com (5/90) and Phil Rogers (5/73 - might still be close) were both wrong? Shocking!
  7. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/dodgers/la-sp-simers12nov12,1,6759741.column?coll=la-headlines-sports-mlb-dodger This guy makes Drew out to be very, very soft. It's TJ Simers. You'd be better off listening to the opposite of everything he writes. And JD Drew isn't friends with the LA media, especially the newspapers, so they don't going to like him much.
  8. Yeah, the Cubs still have a chance to re-sign Aramis. But if 5/$73 was their best offer when they had exclusive rights to talk to him and now the Angels, Dodgers and Red Sox have a chance, the Cubs really have little shot at re-signing him. The offense was horrible last year. And then they lost their one consistant, good run producer. The Cubs can recover with some great trades and free agent signings...but there aren't enough assets to swing any of those trades and if the Cubs aren't willing to top 5/$73M for the best free agent of the class, they probably aren't going to do that for others who might be worth it too. Hendry should blow it all up because that should be the best way for the Cubs to to emerge as a contender down the road. Of course, Hendry's job is on the line so he won't do that. But the way Hendry has acted, maybe his job isn't on the line?
  9. I think I can break this down. •our exclusive negotiating window w/ ARam has closed. •Hendry may have never gotten past a paltry 5/73. •In a preemtptive strike against fan apathy, John McDonough set into motion a plan that will invite additional guest singers between the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th innings of every home game. •It was revelaed that Jim Hendry, due to anatomical shortcomings, is invulnerable to a swift kick to the "charlie brown." •The news had stunning, dramatic effects on NSBB posters. •USSoccer climbed into a full bathtub while holding his plugged-in toaster. •O_O reached new levels of anger for him, which is roughly 1/4 as angry as Gooney is on any given day. •OleMiss converted to radical Islam; JR bought a Prius •Treeman injected heroin into his forehead on Hendry's doorstep. He is now dead. •Sethuel tried to do so as well, but the needle didn't penetrate the six-inch layer of vomit covering his face. A full recovery is excpected. •ndistops bought a 6-pack and passed out 3/4 of the way through the first can. It should be noted it was a 6-pack of cream soda. •The angels or dodgers will swoop in and compensate ARam fairly. •One of Scott Brosius/Shane Andrews/Kevin Orie/Steve Buechele will be ARAM's replacement. •Last year's team will soon look like a juggernaut compared to waht we're going to assemble. •All hope is lost. hope that helps. Awesome.

  12. I hate the Cubs. I've been drinking, so I'm not sure, but am I reading that right? 73M for 5 years? That comes out to 14.6M a year. 14M should have been where they started when he opted out of the contract, not just south of where they ended! Yeah, that works out to 5/$73 M. Not even an average of $15 M a year. Awful.
  13. and it works!! Only took 16 minutes to review it 2 times and get the call. Sheesh...a 16-minute stoppage! Do you know why Dixon is out and Leaf is in? I was away on the phone.
  14. I'd rather have had Aramis and Izturis, wouldn't cost the tradable assets.
  15. Great ending to the Texas-KSU game. USC up 14-0 at the half. Oregon finished the half the way they started the half...nice drive that bogs down and ends with 0 points - this time due to a missed 23-yard FG.
  16. USC drives down field with ease and then Booty throws a pick inside the 10 yard line which is returned to the Oregon 40. :D USC takes a 7-0 lead with 12:22 left in the second quarter on a 3-yard CJ Gable touchdown run. USC up 14-0 with 10:30 left in the second quarter on a 5-yard Chauncey Washington touchdown run following a Dennis Dixon interception. I don't think USC will be joining the ranks of the 2-loss teams.
  17. USC drives down field with ease and then Booty throws a pick inside the 10 yard line which is returned to the Oregon 40. :D USC takes a 7-0 lead with 12:22 left in the second quarter on a 3-yard CJ Gable touchdown run.
  18. Classy, Armstrong. Real classy. Up there with James Posey.
  19. USC drives down field with ease and then Booty throws a pick inside the 10 yard line which is returned to the Oregon 40. :D
  20. Great drive by Oregon to start the game, then they get stupid and go for it on 4th and 1 from the USC 15, don't convert and get an 8-minute drive with no points to show for it. Idiotic.
  21. Now KSU up 42-21.
  22. Wow, Oregon is NOT wearing ugly unis.
