  1. Bulging disc, per Jason Stark. Doesn't heal with rest
  2. Apparently this AZL game was pretty entertaining:
  3. Yeah, today didn't actually work out too badly all things considered. Patton is lousy and will be sent down since he threw 80 pitches, Peralta's career should basically be over, and Montero is our worst position player and he threw some pitches. Basically anybody in the bullpen who matters at all got the day off. Not bad for a game in which your starter can't even make it out of the second inning. I've really been pulling for Pena, but he's struggled quite a bit recently. 11 ER in his last 10.2 innings up until yesterday, where he threw 2 scoreless, at least. Well, Clayton Richard (though he's starting today on rehab in Iowa) or RJ Alvarez are a couple of other possibilities since they're already on the 40-man.
  4. Logically speaking, they're going to have to send Patton down and DFA Peralta after today to get the bullpen help tomorrow. It hasn't been ten days so they can't call up Concepción unless there's an injury. Guess Nathan and Peña are options.
  5. Do you mean today's game or the one where he was crying all over the field?
  6. Candelario provides some positional versatility by being able to play first and third. Since neither Rizzo or Vogelbach can play anywhere besides first, Vogelbach would get minimal playing in the bigs. It's strange but the Cubs appear more interested in winning games than showcasing prospects.
  7. UMFan was right: [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. He's become a real prospect and is already a solid trade piece. Yeah, he's probably a borderline top 100 prospect now.
  9. Something seems fishy. He's been out what 2.5 weeks? And has been on a rehab assignment since last Monday? A week of rehab after 10 days off? Plus he didn't play in Iowas game yesterday. I'm guessing he had a setback but I guess a trade is a possibility however strange it seems. Yesterday was supposedly a scheduled "rest" day. I've never seen that with position player rehabs. They should trade him straight up for Arodys Vizcaino.

  12. But then he's be forced to umpire past retirement age.
  13. Laz Diaz is a joke. Telling Maddon to not come out of the dugout??
  14. Maybe punt Peralta to the moon and start using Edwards in high leverage situations before the 8th inning.
  15. When you get Bryant pissed two different times in one game with your calls, you know you're a shitty ump.
  16. Probably going to be pitching on 5 days rest this time around? I know it's not like he was pitching well enough to feel good about extending him. Yeah, that's what I figured but I don't like the idea of extending a guy whose mechanics aren't that great when he's tiring. Zobrist!!
  17. Never mind. Inherited runners are apparently never a problem for Wood.
  18. Not sure why Joe took so long to pull Arrieta. That was a stressful 108 and bringing Wood in with 1 on and 1 out would have been a far more manageable situation.
  19. Laz Diaz is incompetent at his job plus a complete douche.
  20. Ball 1 to Walker was the same pitch you called Bryant out on.
