  2. Man, I really want the Cubs to sign him: [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. Ugh: [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. Huh??? Your name is literally JERSEY CUBS FAN It's like my whole world is now turned upside down. There's a worse Jersey than baseball jerseys.
  5. Mound visits are the opposite of exciting. Multiple mound visits in the same inning is really really really the opposite of exciting. And they kept huddling after every play in the Super Bowl.
  6. Here's one of the Cuban teenagers, Sandy Gaston. Not shocked from this clip to see he has control issues: [tweet] [/tweet]
  7. Maybe is just a trick of the camera shooting thru the backstop mesh, but Castillo seemed to have impressive action on his fastball thrown to the outside of the plate and it tailing back over the heart of it. Nice. And for as much effort is present in his delivery, he finishes very balanced and under control. I realize the Cubs can't sign them all, but he looks impressive. Not being publicly linked to anyone yet makes him all the more intriguing... Badler linked Castillo to the Phillies yesterday. Same article he linked Gallardo to the Cubs.
  8. He sure did. Said he was the standout there today despite not having the best FB velocity, with the best combination of fastball, offspeed stuff and control. He's 6'1", 187 lbs. Gallardo is the second 7/2/18 IFA linked to the Cubs. The first is 16-year old Dominican SS Rafael Morel. Of the other two guys in my post above with Kiley McDaniel tweets, Starlyn Castillo is linked to the Phillies and Badler didn't link Abraham Calzadilla to any teams. The hardthrowing Cubans will pitch tomorrow.
  9. I knew about it, but I'm a big UCLA fan. Really disappointed because it sounded like he was going to run away with a spot in the weekend rotation.
  10. Michael Roth gets the start Friday, Eddie Butler Saturday and Jen-Ho Tseng Sunday.
  11. Texas Tech lefty Stephen Gingery and FSU lefty Tyler Hilton both need TJS.
  12. Yeah, you're right. There was no mention of "drug of abuse" in the press release like there normally is when it's weed.
  13. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] Haven't seen any of these three linked to teams by Ben Badler thus far.
  14. Second time in three years the top pitching prospect in baseball has been suspended for weed (Reyes in 2016): [tweet] [/tweet] So dumb they even bother testing, and made worse that they only test minor leaguers.
  15. Julio Pablo Martinez was granted his free agency. The top 3 teams interested in him are the Marlins, Yankees and Rangers. MLB's annual international showcase is this week in Santo Domingo. Ben Badler had a piece on some of the top prospects in the showcase. None are linked to the Cubs, though he doesn't mention teams for some of the prospects. The two most intriguing names are Cuban defectors Osiel Rodriguez and Sandy Gaston - both are hard throwing 16-year old RHPs. Rodriguez hasn't been linked to a team and Badler only mentions the Marlins as showing some interest in Gaston. The blurb on Rodriguez makes him sound like he should be the top international prospect for 2018-19 and a top 100 prospect in baseball the moment he signs.
  16. I guess Dusty is partially absolved. Whoever thought it was a good idea to have a 9 year old pitching in an MLB playoff game should get some of the blame. I hope he wasn't forced to throw any breaking balls. Real life Rookie of the Year just wasn't as good as the movie.
  17. Got to go to road games. I'm guessing it got expensive when they moved out of Ho Ho Kam.
  18. There's a segment of Cubs twitter that just wants to spend, spend, spend, this year and next. Partly, it's because they want to get the best players (back end of contract be damned) but I believe a part of it's a dislike for billionaire owners and specifically the Ricketts and wanting to spend their money.
  19. Oregon State OF Trevor Larnach had a 3.034 OPS this weekend. BA has him ranked 92nd in their draft board rankings but he clearly jumped quite a bit on draft boards this weekend.
  20. I wonder if at this point some guys are sitting out, out of principle to prove a point for another week or so even if they have decent offers (like JD and his 5/125 or whatever and Hosmer and his 6/120 or whatever). Some Boston media type tweeted out last week JD Martinez' offer is a lot closer to $100 million than $125.
  21. Carson's younger brother: [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  22. More on Hankins: [tweet] [/tweet] Another draft pitcher injury: [tweet] [/tweet]
  23. I got my BA Prospect Handbook yesterday. Here is 11-31: 11. DJ Wilson, OF 12. David Bote, 2B/3B 13. Bryan Hudson, LHP 14. Keegan Thompson, RHP 15. Dillon Maples, RHP 16. Cory Abbott, RHP 17. Trevor Clifton, RHP 18. Justin Steele, LHP 19. Duane Underwood, RHP 20. Mark Zagunis, OF 21. Dakota Mekkes, RHP 22. Miguel Amaya, C 23. Javier Assad, RHP 24. Charcer Burks, OF 25. Jason Vosler, 3B 26. Michael Rucker, RHP 27. Erich Uelman, RHP 28. Alec Mills, RHP 29. Jonathan Sierra, OF 30. Jake Stinnett, RHP 31. Manuel Rondon, LHP Most surprising omission for me is Jeremiah Estrada.
  24. Some draft lists have him as the top prospect in the draft right now. [tweet] [/tweet]
