  1. The 2018 Cubs ZiPS projections are out: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2018-zips-projections-chicago-cubs/
  2. BP's Top 100 is out: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/article/37535/baseball-prospectus-top-101-prospects-2018-top-mlb-prospects-ronald-acuna-victor-robles-vladimir-guerrero-jr-eloy-jimenez/ Adbert Alzolay is the only Cub, coming in at 95. Gleyber is 3, Eloy 6, Cease 47.

  4. Still a lot of time left.
  5. College kickers.
  6. Hope the Bears can get a receiver as good as Alshon some day.

  8. Agree with most of this though I’d think small market teams would have major push back on shortening control. Another big thing that should be changed is tying draft position to spending, teams should be able to spend what they want and the current set up really incentivized losing since finishing a few spots lower increases spending ability rather significantly Small market teams can suck it. Their owners are rich too. If they truly can't afford the cost of business of owning an MLB team, they should sell their team.
  9. I mean, he supposedly signed all of Lester, Heyward, Zobrist and Lackey without having the biggest offer on the market so that might be why he thinks he can do it again. (That's assuming he is offering a significantly smaller offer than competitors.)
  10. I don't know who between David or N&G gets credit for that subject title but that definitely is an all-time great.
  11. Mark Appel is taking an "indefinite break" from baseball. If he doesn't return and make it to the majors, he'd become the third number 1 overall pick to never make it to the big leagues. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2757009-why-mark-appel-perhaps-the-biggest-bust-in-mlb-history-is-retiring-at-26
  12. That's 1.1 material...at least until the TJS: [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. I think it's totally fair to criticize the Cubs for their lack of success in finding prospects/pitchers after the 1st round of previous drafts (besides D. Cease and I guess Z. Godley). I think maybe they've revamped their approach and hired a new group of scouts at the lowest levels? Like TT said hopefully hiring Benedict will help in pitcher development. I'm certainly disappointed with the lack of success in properly identifying/developing pitching prospects from the previous draft classes (2012-2017) under Jason McLeod. They didn't hire new scouts but they've revamped what they look for in scouting amateur arms:
  14. Lol, no. The owners have unprecedented profits and yet systematically have introduced rules throughout the game that reduce pay for both big leaguers and amateurs, ask for tax payer-funded stadiums and pay minor leaguers peanuts, but it's the players who have finally reached too far?
  15. No Cubs in the MLB.com top 100. Eloy was 4, Gleyber 5, Cease 61. [tweet]https://twitter.com/bigchrislit/status/957423268167905280[/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet]https://twitter.com/brandonkay34/status/957424193779519488[/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]

  17. Liked him a lot coming out of college as a potential LOOGY. [tweet] [/tweet]
  18. Add Abbott and Estrada, take out de la Cruz, Galindo and Wilson. (Though Tim's point about pitchers developing is well taken. Guys like Corey Kluber, José Quintana and Jimmy Nelson were never top 100 prospects.)
  19. BA's top 10 JuCo prospects: https://t.co/W8m2EVZEyz?amp=1 1. Josh Breaux, RHP/C, McLennan JC (TX) - ranked 301 in BA's top 500 draft prospects in 2017 2.
