  1. Thanks, Fred. I'm too lazy to get up and turn on the TV.
  2. Somehow not shocked that Pettite is struggling...
  3. They all could be a problem, especially with the defensive problems: @ Stanford (who just upset ASU) @ Arizona (night game, thankfully) Arizona State
  4. Agreed.
  5. My choices in order... Hershiser Dierker McLaren Gonzalez. No, Baker was not high on my list at the time of the hire. McLaren? John McLaren, TB's bench coach. Aggressive style like Lou, similar ability to relate to players as Lou, probably doesn't have the veteran fetish or the arm killing instinct of Piniella. Interesting. Thanks. Orel and Fredi are my top choices.
  6. UCLA to 7-0 with a 51-28 win over Oregon State. Drew Olson set a new UCLA record for TD passes in a game (6), breaking his and Cade McNown's record for 5 in a game. The best part of the game for me was seeing uber-hyped freshman Ben Olson made his UCLA debut. Up next, Stanford in Santa Clara County. Oh, and Mo Drew better be getting some love from the Heisman folks.
  7. UCLA better win this one when I get back from work...
  8. Cowan drops a catchable TD on a double cross and UCLA has to settle for a FG. Now up 10-7 with 9 minutes to go in the first quarter. Top WR Marcus Everett hasn't played much because he suffered a knee sprain. :([/code]
  9. UCLA-Oregon State tied up at 7 (each team scored on a drive of about 1 minute long) after few minutes gone by in the first quarter. Spencer Havner just interecepted a Matt Moore pass and returned it to the OSU 20! This is Matt Moore's comeback to the Rose Bowl after transferring to OSU after fighting with Karl Dorrell over playing time versus Drew Olson.
  10. Yesterday: 3/4, K, HR for Felix.
  11. Me too.
  12. Speaking of, ND down 10-7. :o
  13. Not unless he plans on transferring to USC, ND or Texas anytime soon.
  14. You fail to take into account that a close loss for ND is just as good as a win for them.
  15. So does my fantasy team.
  16. I would love Saenz and Sweeney, but both of them ended up starting a lot this season and might be looking for starting jobs instead.
  17. Thank you. I'm still in shock. I've had my heart ripped out of my chest so many times. I can't believe the Astros are playing in the Series. The World Series! I was 12 in 1986 and I've grown up with heart break. I guess eveything will feel a little more real Saturday. I have to admit, I haven't watched the Sox this year. I know most of the players from years past but I haven't seen them play as a team. On paper, it looks like a great matchup. Question. Is their rotation really that good? Everybody on ESPN picked their rotation over Oswalt, Clemens and Pettitte. That's a bold statement. I wouldn't have picked their rotation - especially if Buehrle or Garcia have to pitch with those Crawford boxes around. The reason most have probably picked the White Sox' rotation is their #4 is better than Backe, but the Astros first 3 are better than the White Sox first 3.
  18. My choices in order... Hershiser Dierker McLaren Gonzalez. No, Baker was not high on my list at the time of the hire. McLaren?
  19. Licey.com has Pie going 1-3 with a strikeout in the first, a strikeout in the third, a single to leadoff the 6th but tagged out at second, and a sac bunt in the 8th. The box credits him with a stolen base, as well, but that looks to be a mistake. Also, Marmol pitched for Licey and threw 1/3 of the inning at the end to get the only man he faced. Valdes pitched for Azucareros. What...more research than just checking my Minor League Boxes e-mails? Boo.
  20. To be fair, the metro LA population doesn't count the Inland Empire (Ontario, Riverside, San Bernardino). Counting them would give the LA-Riverside-Anaheim metro 17.5 million people, which obviously is still less than NYC.
  21. Venezuelan Winter League: Hank White, Leones del Caracas These are the stats (PDF format: http://www.lvbp.com/estadisticas/batr0506.pdf ) for all guys in the league, hopefully this will be updated throughout the season: For now, Adam Greenberg is posting a .263/.333/.368 line in 19 ABs. Henry Blanco is at .176/.176/.222 in 17 ABs. Mexican Pacific League: Chris Walker and Ismael Salas are playing for Algodoneros de Guasave. These stats will hopefully update over the course of the season. Salas is currently posting a .050/.050/.095 line in 20 ABs (while playing 3B). Walker is currently posting a .296/.296/.407 line in 27 ABs.
  22. Kevin Goldstein's daily e-mail reports (he also gives Chris Walker's stats in the Mexican Pacific League). So far, daily stats on the Venezuelan league have been coming slow. I'm searching the net...
  23. Dominican Winter League yesterday: LHP Raul Valdes: 6 IP, 0 R, 7 H, 4/1 No Felix.
