  1. I would enjoy that. I'd be happy with Theriot getting a start at 2B and a start at SS.
  2. I said seems and no one has pointed out all the games he's won with his bat. His defense is sub-par. Have you watched him try to turn double plays? I will never figure you guys out. I am convinced you don't watch/understand much baseball. You pillory Perez all year and the guy, while admittedly streaky and too anxiuos at the plate, has played well all year. I think if you asked knowledgebale people who has had the better year -- based on watching the game, rather than based on reviewing box scores-- perez would be an overwhelming choice over walker. The point here is not to praise Perez-- he's far from great-- it's that stats-- at least in walker and perez's cases-- have blinded stats-livers to their actual contributions. I know I am not going to change the metric minds but maybe you guys should start watching more and crunching numbers less. You might get an actual line on players that way. agreed i trust your interpretation of the game instead of unbiased numbers. and try not to act like a huge jerk in your posts. actually, keep it up so you can get banned. I guess I'm acting like a jerk because I disagree philosophically with many on this board. I'll try to be be better and only ridicule--like you did in your post-- other's viewpoints. You just said people with other viewpoints on Todd Walker must not watch or understand Cubs games and you don't think you're being a jerk/ridicule others?
  3. The year Dusty has successfully ruined Prior and Zambrano.
  4. You think wrong. Someone's scared of the rain.
  5. Rain moving to the northeast: http://image.weather.com/web/radar/us_ord_metroradar_large_usen.jpg
  6. The scouting report read on Pawelek was disappointing. He was 92-94 mph with the FB, topping out at 95 but didn't always have command of it (not shocking, given the BBs and WPs in the Mesa box scores). Apparently the Cubs limited Mark to his FB, curve and ("spotty") change and didn't allow him to throw his splitter or slider. His mechanics are still a work in progress. Baez sounds intriguing.
  7. No one else on the offense stood out? From the scouting report, Veal was in the 88-91 mph range (down from topping out at 97 at Pima in the spring), but his FB had good movement. He had good control of his FB (and kept it down), good poise and his curve is above-average. The scouting report had good things to say about Reed's defense. He has good bat speed but has holes in his swing which were exploited during the season.
  8. Heh, I think burnt will enjoy that top of the lineup (he's at Wrigley).
  9. The way I see it, Todd Walker's offensive game far outweighs his defense. I think this is a no-brainer, but it sounds like the Cubs want to improve defense (at the expense of offense, I doubt you can find a better offensive player than Walker at 2B this offseason). I hope that if the Cubs don't bring back Todd, they at least pick his option up and get a good trade.
  10. That's cool, Ryan better have started his recruiting. Meh. I think that's overpaying. If this report is true, it sounds like the Cubs are going to improve their defense at the expense of their already bad offense. The Cubs aren't going to go far with that strategy. And I really don't want an OF of Jacque Jones, Craig Monroe and some CF. Oh, I would like a Bob Howry-signing.
  11. Why is SLG a bad thing in a leadoff hitter? Why aren't we allowed to count Corey's best asset in 2003 (and the biggest asset of his batting position, the 3 slot)?
  12. Rekindle that hot streak you had before your last outing, Jerome. Go Bears!!
  13. :D Freaking yeah. I note that your sig has changed, though Tsk tsk, lawyers who steal sigs.
  14. What impressed me the most was the MWL's top 10 prospect list from 5 years ago. Wow:
  15. Besides, they'd have to kill Zambrano to make him miss a start. I've liked your idea for a while; too bad there's no one in place to implement such a common-sense approach. I would just be happy to see Prior not have to labor to 120 pitches in his final 2 starts.
  16. Man, I really want Rich Hill to get a start.
  17. No clue as of now. Remember, Clement wasn't (:x).
  18. From the ensuing chat: Other Boise-related chat stuff: Oh, and the East Coast bias must stop:
  19. Yay, a WGN game and I don't have work to get in the way of most of the game! Hopefully Murton is starting.
  20. Haha, Aaron Rowand is pathetic in CF. I could play better CF defense than him. Good job, Indians and Twins! :)
  21. ESPN talked about this yesterday. They said that Ozzie received over 500 e-mails after the game 1 loss to the Indians and that he said the messages were messages of support. That's a big lie and there is no way it was true... Well, Jay Mariotti said it on ESPN...
  22. Both Prior and Wood havent been the same since the dreaded 2003 season. Yup.
