  1. Agreed. This has shades of the collapses 1998/1999 and 2001 when UCLA had undefeated teams. UCLA didn't recover at the 1999 Rose Bowl after the Miami loss (a win in Miami would have sent them to the national championship game) and it never recovered after a loss in Stanford (they were 6-0 and ranked #3 at the time, and ended the year 7-4). And that was with a more competent coach. Hopefully the fact that it's Senior Day and the Bruins still have a solid chance at winning the Pac 10 and being BCS eligible will be enough to motivate these guys, but I expect a loss.
  2. Pinto's big problem throughout his career has been his lack of control, and that worsened against AAA hitters in 2005 (he more than doubled his minor league career averages in BB/9 at AAA). But he also was hit hard at AAA: at Iowa, Pinto gave up a .313 BAA (nearly 1.5 more H/IP than his career norms). He was also twice as likely to serve up a HR at AAA compared to AA in 2004 and six times as likely compared to his 2005 AA numbers (some of that increase is to be expected since the PCL is such a tremendous hitter's league). His BB/IP, H/IP and HR/IP leveled out near his strong 2004 West Tenn and 2003 Daytona numbers once he returned to West Tenn. In 2002, Renyel struggled at Daytona with poor numbers similar to his 2005 AAA numbers. He rebounded with a strong 2003 in Daytona. Hopefully Renyel can rebound in a similar manner at Iowa next season. He needs get his walks down to a respectable level and cut down on those hits and HRs. EDIT: Since this MiLB.com story was the topic of another thread from a while back, I merged the two threads.
  3. Your brian tells you that, eh? :P
  4. Hahaha. In the AP, undefeated Alabama is behind 1-loss Miami, 1-loss Oregon is behind two 2-loss teams (Notre Dame and Ohio State) and 1-loss UCLA is behind three 2-loss teams (Notre Dame, Ohio State and Florida). What a joke.
  5. Boy, Grossman needs to get healthy in a hurry.
  6. Arizona will compete with Oregon, Cal and USC next year for Pac 10 supremacy. Mike Stoops is doing great things with that defense and has some stud freshmen on that offense.
  7. And instant replay takes a TD away from UCLA (right call was made). Maurice Drew is still playing, while injured. Not sure why.
  8. Arizona up 52-7 on UCLA. Even worse, UCLA's linebacker Justin London and running back Maurice Drew are hurt.
  9. They won't remain unbeaten after this week.
  10. Spencer Havner drops an interception and Arizona settle for a FG. They're up 31-7 at the half.
  11. Touchdown, Olson to Marcedes Lewis! 28-7.
  12. The FSN broadcasting crew still ripping the refs. Rightfully so.
  13. DID YOU SEE THE SPOT ON THE PREVIOUS PLAY? OLSON WAS TACKLED AT THE 4 AND THE REFS SPOTTED THE BALL BEHIND THE 5. EDIT: Yes, I'm mad.
  14. It would depend on how much cash the Phillies are picking up. I'd rather go after Delgado if I were the Sox.
  15. I'm shocked that more people didn't see this coming...
  16. All it says at the AFL site is: "November 1: RHP (?) John Koronka from the Chicago Cubs organization has been pulled due to personal reasons. No replacement has been named."
  17. I have no problem with Burnett and Furcal, but I hope Hendry doesn't forget the worst offensive OF in baseball and a sketchy set-up situation.
  18. Not too many systems don't suffer when the top 4 prospects struggle or are hurt (Dope, Harvey, Guzman, Pie), and a system based on depth will suffer even more than other systems when injury and stagnation strikes. The Cubs system is definitely weakening and probably not top-10 materia anymore, but it's not as weak as some make it out to be. And Outshined, get in line, Donald Veal is already my breakout player for 2006.
  19. That was a foul on the Bulls!?!? Please...
  20. 106-102, 18 seconds left in OT. Duhon with a triple double and a sore knee.
  21. I <3 Songaila. Time for some OT.
