  1. And so the streak ends! Hopefully Aramis has woken up!
  2. Right now, it'll be Hill and Guzman, probably in that order, unless things change in their future starts. Sounds correct.
  3. At least we're getting shutout by Jake Peavy. It was so much more embarassing when it was Chan Ho Park.
  4. I demand a refund. I want Mitre, Nolasco and Pinto back.
  5. That was a pretty curve to strike out Piazza. :) Anyone notice Rich Hill was talking to Greg Maddux?
  6. The Jaxx got one more in the bottom of the 6th to make it 5-4. That's where we stand as we go to the bottom of the 7th.
  7. What's marine layer? Cool, moist marine air that comes onshore in coastal California (mostly in the spring and fall). It normally brings with it low clouds and fog and sometimes even drizzle/light rain. The cool air helps keeps flyballs that might otherwise be HRs stay in the ballpark. Learn something every day. Thank you. No problemo. I'm finally of use after nearly 26k posts. 8)
  8. Those aren't the '84 unis. They're Negro League replicas. They had a big tribute to the Negro Leagues before the game. Whoops, my bad. I retract my negative comments to the Padres and give them kudos. Thanks for the correction, Bruce.
  9. 1,097 paid attendance on a showery night in Jackson, TN. Scott Moore with an RBI double in the 6th to make it 5-3. Moore and Hoffpauir at 2nd and 3rd with none out and Tony Richie is up
  10. Stupid Padres. Always trotting out their 1984 unis when the Cubs come to town for "Throwback Uniform" night.
  12. You don't like the 15.45 ERA so far at WT? How about his 11.57 ERA between Iowa and West Tenn? Apparently Ribbee is getting soaked and he doesn't like it. Nic Jackson with a nice catch on a tailing flyball in the OF.
  13. PH single by Sprowl gives the DJaxx their first run. They're losing 5-1 in the 5th. Chris Walker with a sac fly scoring Carlos Rojas. It's now 5-2. Now EPatt with his second single. Two on, two outs for Nic Jackson. Bah, Nic lines out to end the inning. Huntsville leads it 5-2 after 5. Brownlie has given up 5 R, 4 ER in 2.1 IP. It's raining moderately hard, so there's a chance they might have a delay.
  14. Ron Potesta thinks Brian Dopirak will be back by early-to-mid June. Randy Wells, on a 60-pitch pitch count, threw 58 pitches for 2.2 shutout innings. Randy gave up 1 hit, struck out 4 and walked 1. In the 4th, Bobby Brownlie is getting rocked - he gave up a 2 RBI single to the opposing pitcher with the bases loaded. After a Luis Montanez error, Brownlie gave up another 2-RBI single. In the middle of the 4th, West Tenn is down 4-0.
  15. Dusty is trying to get fired! Yay! Would you care to elaborate ? This seems like a pretty reasonable lineup to me. I don't like Jacque batting cleanup, even with 3 good games in a row. Murton at 6 and Barrett at 7 seems a tad bit too low for my tastes.
  16. Daytona gets 1 in the 9th and come up short, 5-4. Ryan Harvey was the last out and his BA is down to .192. The announcers really were talking about how Grant Johnson got ahead of a lot of hitters but couldn't finish them of.
  17. Daytona down 5-3 in the middle of the 8th. Grant Johnson gave up 5 earned in 5.2 innings. Apparently he was nibbling a bit and just couldn't finish off hitters with 2 strikes today. Jake Fox is 1 for 4 with a single and a strikeout. Aaron Weston has a solo HR. Ryan Harvey's BA is down to .194. Tim Layden has looked good in relief.
  18. More marine layer in San Diego tonight (heh, what did you expect, it's May), meaning it's going to be near impossible to hit a HR.
  19. Actually, Yepez has a blister and was skipped. Atkins came back to today because of the off day Wednesday. Wood will be follwed by the pen. Veal, Blackford, Yepez and Taylor in Ft. Wayne...Atkins starts game 1 in So Bend. Oh, thanks Nathan! It doesn't sound too serious if he's expected back next time around. Did the blister affect his last start where he walked 7 in 4 innings?
  20. Pretty easy question.
  21. Every single offseason. When's the last time we signed a top-tier free agent? Yes, we have a high payroll, but we also make a lot more than most other teams. Pointing out that the Trib spends more than Tampa Bay or Kansas City or Cincinnati is fine, but they should be spending more because they make more. The Cubs spend more on awdul players. Poor management decisions. I agree with Serena. It's time to start afresh.
