  1. Yep. You can run your full pass scheme only on 1st and 10. Any other time you want to pass its 90% two route concepts with a checkdown and maybe another chip option. Everyone else has to block. Then turn those two route concepts into pure progression quick reads for Fields. And just do that over and over to try and speed up his initial play speed through 2 reads. Make sure he practices his sliding abilities. Next year they can get wild and do 3 and 4 progression route combos on more obvious passing downs.
  2. Yea there really isn't a good justification for any of those takes, other than perhaps being a traumatized Bears fan. Weird how I said that exactly what has happened would happen then I don't know what that is in reference to even, or why it would matter. You're saying you predicted his actions or something?
  3. His free agency was indicative of he wanting to wait a year mostly. Maybe grade him on intent of Ogunjobi, but since it actually didn't go through I'll give him a break. Again tankity tank. Not sure what the issue with the draft is. Lacking a scenario like spending a top 20 pick on a guard or something... It was fine. Grade the outcome in 2 years, but the design/approach was fine from a rebuilding perspective. (I'm on the side that they shouldn't have forced any position in the draft for Fields-that's what FA was for, but I think in this context we're trying to establish general team building philosophy, not "how he supported Fields). What was your issue with the draft? DB-DB-KR-value OL is a disastrous draft from a long-term standpoint. I don't want value OL, I want OL in the top two rounds. I don't want a gadget player when we don't have WR1-3 in place. And I definitely don't want our first two picks to be defense. Even your first draft, you're establishing which positions you think are high-priority and which ones you can try to get cheap with. I hate his choices. Yea there really isn't a good justification for any of those takes, other than perhaps being a traumatized Bears fan.
  4. Pretty sure the EPA/play stats disagree with your assessment of how he does when he has time, but maybe I'm analyzing the data wrong from what I've seen. Cannot recall the post however, was there not some statistics of his rating being over 100.0 when given a clean pocket or no pressure? How can that be frequently bad? I'm not super anti-passer rating, but it does have its shortcomings, and it's biggest shortcoming I think particularly has a blind spot to use for the Bears/Fields, which is sacks. Still I thought more comprehensive stats/grades like EPA or PFF grade showed he has done really well when not pressured (obviously everyone does better, but particularly so in this case).
  5. You mean... nothing? If you count Mack trade as part of the tear down part, that was really the only major move he made. Nothing else was a significant part of building. There's basically no building move to grade or opine on (at least player wise. I guess you could opine on coaching staff, mostly Eberflus). Presumably those start coming in 2023. He had an entire draft and free agency period to start establishing what kind of players he wanted and what kind of team he was building toward. 6. Easy comp because it's both Bears GMs, but obviously the general point being that most first year GMs taking over rebuilding teams is basically a pointless eval year. Tankity tank. He's accomplishing that. And not to defend Pace per se, but his *actual* issues that did him in, verse what the standard fan acts like he was couldn't be further disconnected, anyways, IMO. I like the fact that Poles recognized we needed to tear down the roster and rebuild I hate what he began building You mean... nothing? 7. Maybe seeing Montgomery takes some time, which, nearly half the time, Fields doesn't have, don't how you can properly evaluate a QB under those conditions. Pressure is a QB's kryptonite no matter who that happens to be, Rodgers, Mahomes et. al. are terrible, fail to see open receivers with lineman constantly in their faces. Occasionally, he has plays without pressure. Not as often as he should, but sometimes. And on those plays, he frequently looks bad. Pretty sure the EPA/play stats disagree with your assessment of how he does when he has time, but maybe I'm analyzing the data wrong from what I've seen.

  9. Yea at this point I don't have much issue with Getsy, but it's also really hard to know with the talent level. The JV roster as Tony Gonzalez called them, make these evaluations tough. The D I think they can evaluate fairly, but on O... You're doing a lot of projection based on grading on a curve because of the supporting case. I just hope I'm right and this was just a purported tank and Poles isn't going to suffer from some "smartest guy in the room" syndrome. First year GM tanking isn't shocking though. Hope he doesn't flop on his top 10 pick (I'd say top 5, but the SOS probably in gonna bone the Bears cuz of course it would)
  10. Is the draft tie breaker not just SOS? Going into this week bears had hardest SOS of course. They're somehow gonna be in an upgill climb to even tank for a top pick. Edit-okay the only team with a hard SOS right now is Washington, which makes sense as it's the NFC East throwing SOS right now and they're the only bad team in it. So once the NFC East plays more intra division games that SOS will come down a little, but it doesn't look like the weak schedule most thought.
  11. Forgot to mention Reiff and Schofield too. Pringle, etc. St. Brown, Pettis, etc Letting Daniels go was horsefeathering stupid. You can't tell me he wouldn't be a better C than Mustipher. Daniels was drafted with the idea of possibly becoming a C Yea, Daniels back and any decent second OL investment and any decent WR investment and this would be merely a bottom 10 supporting cast, but enough to allow Fields a proper development environment. And it was doable resource wise. Right now his development for the rest of 2022 feels super tenuous. And it was all pretty predictable.
  12. Haters is tough. Just the realists. Can't scotch tape an NFL roster. True enough but, once again, given the terrible lack roster management by Pace and the lack of resources just what could Poles have done? I'm not defending Poles but, people are talking as if he had a plethora of resources and moves available, he did not. Now, next season, a little bit different picture. He coulda spent more money in FA.
  13. Yep, and I think they should have returned to the power gun run deep in the red zone too.

  15. I actually think the WR core is a bigger issue than the line and that's really saying something.
  16. Helping to tank for their replacement.
  17. This horsefeathering team. Woof.
  18. Fields is tough, but he might get killed before 2023. What a throw.
  19. First two plays pass calls. It's a new era.
  20. Okay I figured out how to throw $20 at +485 for 224.5 yards. Last time I felt good about a Bears odds was when Eberflus was something like +400 for the head coach job. But I didn't place any bets then. Leggo. Good luck! It’s a bit windy but probably not greatly enough to effect the passing game. Its a vibe bet and I threw a under bet on Samuel receiving yards as a fantasy team hedge. I think I've already entered degenerate status.
  21. Someone who gambles tell me how I can throw a 20 on that. Okay I figured out how to throw $20 at +485 for 224.5 yards. Last time I felt good about a Bears odds was when Eberflus was something like +400 for the head coach job. But I didn't place any bets then. Leggo.

  23. Fields is getting his first 300 yard passing game tonight. Another 100 yards is getting dropped.
