  1. My friend from Cleveland just texted me and said its to the Tribe for Choo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Not this year though. So there must be something Sveum just sees that has brought him to the conclusion he shouldn't be played there. Not sure what. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Actually has Baker logged much time at 3B at all? I guess Sveum just doesn't see him as a 3B. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. My memory exaggerated Soriano's backloading. Still I think its crazy to say Kenny had more resources than Hendry since he outspent him by $3m one year when the next year Hendry outspent him by over 30M. To pretend those two are equal is stupid. It isn't some binary thing like wins and losses. Theres a lot more than two outcomes when comparing salary discrepancies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Name a GM who doesn't backload contracts. okay but Hendry did it to the extreme in 2006. What was Soriano's first year, 5 million or something? Not criticizing the decision. The point being that when evaluating two teams payrolls it makes sense to average it out because its pretty clear part of the reason their payroll explooded vs the Sox were those severely backloaded deals. I mean when we outspent them we outspent by a significant amount and a few of the years they outspent us it was nearly even. To say that Kenny Williams had equal or better resouces as Hendry because "they outspent 5 out of 7 years" is laughable. Hendry clearly had more at his disposal. Williams still had plenty and has done rather average at best with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I've read that technological improvements in pool design and lane dividers have mitigated much of the disadvantage of the side lanes. Mostly now its about seeing the top competition better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Show your work. Here you go. Format: Sox/Cubs/Diff. 2011 129/125/(+4) 2010 108/146/(-38) 2009 96/135/(-39) 2008 121/118/(+3) 2007 108/99/(+9) 2006 102/94/(+8) 2005 75/87/(-12) 2004 65/91/(-26) You know, 2012 numbers are out there too(White Sox +8 for the curious). But even then, you looked at this, and concluded that the best way to express it would be with the total number, and then to average that total number. Despite spending less than them in 5 of the last 7 seasons. You know, with the way Hendry backloaded contracts at time averaging out the payroll isn't the worst way to do it. 8. Those pictures dont show the graves of puppies in the background. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. While it sucks to come crashing down from Delgado, any of these returns are fair. Take one, hope Garza makes his next start and sell Atlanta or whomever on him to still get that top level prospect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Has there been any actual news since about 8 this morning? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. What? If Atlanta's decision is based on Dempster willing to sign an extension Reed Johnson isn't going to change their mind. If there was going to be something to change their mind, it would have to be someone young with team control, preferavly at a position of need. Even that likely wouldn't be enough if an extension was the sticking point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. He isnt a defender at all, but he has enough physical talent that Thibs should be able to make him a good system defender if he is willing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Where's Deng going to be? Is he expected to miss time at the start? If he opts for wrist surgery. Total unknown at this point though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Hmm, could this be an opening? As much as LaHair isn't fit to hold Joey Votto's jock strap, he could be the best option as a 2 week fill in for the Reds. 2 weeks is a long time to go without your top hitter. After Votto's back, LaHair can be a bat off the bench, and ultimately take over LF be it this season or next. Basically, a cheaper Ludwick. no one gives up anything of value for two weeks. Even if it was two weeks of Babe Ruth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. He gonna go pay for pizza he didn't order? Weird. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Fyi for everyone. Forget any sign and trades with Asik. We can't offer 3/25 (but we can match)... Just a weird loophole. Best we could offer was 4/25 which we did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Yea, it was almost guaranteed the Bulls would pick Rose. And about half the country disagreed with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. maybe it wasn't during the ncaa tournament, but by draft time rose was definitely the consensus #1. No, it wasn't. Depending on where you read maybe you thought otherwise. Chicago media definitely leaned Rose, but not on a national level. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Paxon's biggest mistake was not making the trade up to grab Wade in '03. I believe the cost for that was Donyell Marshall. Regarding blowing things up, the Bulls were one of the first teams to prepare for Summer 2010. They were shedding contracts way back to the Noce/ Salmons/Miller trade. Yea they missed out on their target, but you can accuse them of toiling. They always had a very soecific goal in mind that gave them the best chance to get a star. It failed, but they planned terifically. They've made plenty of moves that made them worse (or at least where the consensus was so) in the hope of either shedding salaries for future use or getting picks (Crawford, Curry, Hinrich) Lastly, stating they lucked into Rose ignores that at best fans, media, and other teams were split 50/50 on Rose/Beasley. And I'd say Beasley was slightly favored because of the old myth that you always go big. And the Bulls had a 16/6 and 20 pt scorer at the guard spots and had lacked a big man who could score since Curry. It wasn't a consensus #1 draft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Doesnt his lack of ceiling have a lot to do with him possibly not sticking at 3B? As a LF or 1B he isn't as thrilling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Process >>>>>>>>> Outcome Oh, that's right. when you evaluate a process, you entirely ignore the outcome. don't collect information about the outcome b/c that can't inform your process evaluation. Who said its about ignoring the outcome. You place that outcome along with the vast set of outcomes from similar scenarios and continue to go with whatever the results say is the best process. I'm willing to bet when you stack this trade against all the similair trades like it, the results say this type of trade is at worst neutral, even if this one flopped. 22. NBA easily has the worst CBA of any major sport. No max salaries and a hard cap at roughly the current tax level would be awesome. But you have to have some "mechanism" that allows teams to cut salary, which is tricky with guaranteed contracts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. The no tax thing sucks, but now it actually penalizes you more than just money, so its smart to try and not continuously be in the tax. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Nit pick: Korver is guaranteed 500k. In nba money thats basically nothing, but it should be noted. Watson and Brewer as trade chips have sailed. Brewer is easily a goner. Watson depends on what else we can find cheaper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I'd trade Deng and Noah for Dwight if I am confident the Nets won't be able to clear cap room for 2013. So basically if they were to extend Williams, finalize the JJ trade and extend Lopez. But if there's any chance they'd be able to shed salary I'm not dealing for a unextended Dwight. As it stands, I could write the script. Dwight plays here with Rose for about 20 awesome games and then bolts to Brooklyn for some absurd reason. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
