  1. Also a lot of this Asik mess could have been avoided with a third year on his original contract. Although obviously there is incentive for a player to hit free agency as quickly as possible so maybe a two year deal was all that was in the cards. But with a full year we'd have full bird rights, not to mention he'd still be under contract. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. You're misunderstanding how the rules work. Houston didn't structure the deal like that. Its illegal to backload like that. They are using cap space so they can offer whatever they'd like, within the confines of their available cap room. If we didn't have the clause to be able to match, our max offer could only be roughly MLE money. If we had cap space we could match the deal and structure it how we like. Its the difference between early bird and full bird rights. To your point about Houston having to pay how we would, thats silly because we're already the ones being accomodated. They shouldn't be punished just because they have cap space. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Well the original loophole allowed Gilbert Arenas to leave without GS having any chance to even match. The fix was less than perfect but an improvement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. What? Are there actually rumors of Charlotte or anyone folding? In any case, I'd think the pick would just become unprotected and entered in the lottery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Does anyone recall something about something in the new cba about restricturing deals to shift around cap hits? For some reason I feel like i read something to that effect and thats the only way I could see the Bulls making that final year work (thereby having to extend him and give more guarnteed at that point) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Just FYI, that third year is only like that if we match. If Houston gets him it will be distrbited evenly, or with the max raises at 6%. Something like 8, 8.4, 8.7. The reason we can even match is the "Gilbert Arenas" clause. Otherwise we could offer only the MLE as max, and not be able to meet that offer at all. Essentially we are getting him at the MLE for two years at which point we have full bird rights and the salary can jump. And it won't really have expiring value as he will be a BYC player and his contract is harder to move. Tough, but we have to let him go. My hope is thaf since its only verbal at this point, we can work out a S&T. Not a ton of motivation for Houston though unless they think we'll match. So basically we could bluff and say. Give us "deamand something outrageous" or you lose your center. Then negotiate down from there and hopefully get a second rounder or bench player in a cheap deal. Once the offer is actually signed we have to match or walk; no trades. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Lakers are shopping Gasol to try and get into the Lottery. Plus it doesn't make sense for the Bulls.
  8. The Cubs need to at least inquire. If its really gonna cost too much, they should bow out. My opening offer would be Vitters, Jackson, and low level guy who isn't top 20 in our system. They'd certainly come back with an offer, but it just depends on how much more. I'm not gonna lose sleep throwing in Russel, for instance. If they ask for Baez, I walk away. But i definitely see Jackson and Vitters as making sense for both sides, just a matter if thats enough as a headliner for the Pads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. What does that even mean? He has 10/5 rights. He doesn't need to fake an injury to avoid being traded. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Go Mark go! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Well jts at least nice to hear some of these players have a future in accounting after their careers are done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. for the record, i think this is a fantastic post pretty good point. Analogy misses a bit for my taste though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Center the easiest position to replace, or are you counting Garza as a G? Still might not be the easiest to replace, though I'd definitely put G over C. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. eh, as long as he misses no more than 6 games it was worth the risk. Anything additional is gravy. I'm assuming this means he won't be suspended, but you never know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Wait, why would anyone think that Williams would be strictly a backup tackle. If Webb beats him out, he'll almost certainly go back inside. Given our current roster he is at the very least the backup LT, even if hes the starting LG, but that doesn't mean its LT or nothing else. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. What a halftime score... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. The reason you don't amnesty Boozeer is because it isn't beneficial. At best you've increased your cap space from the taxpayer mle to the normal mle which is the difference of 5 to 3 mil i think. And u won't get an upgrade to Boozer with 5 mil anyways. Learn to live with his flaws. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Steve Nash. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Didn't Kobe play with a pretty similar injury and remain effective. I always had the impression it was mainly a pain thing and the physical limitations were negligible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Does she mean actually run the offense this time? screw having Lucas run the offense. When he runs the offense he is easily defended. Our best bet when Lucas has to play is for him to attack and let our superior rebounding make up for his inefficiency. That, or play off the ball and hit threes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I'll take our second best player at 80% and playing over missing half the season. Yea, I'd prefer him to get 100% and be ready for training camp, but that just doesn't look in the cards. Its an injury he can play with. If our roster doesn't have Rose and Deng until December we may struggle to make the playoffs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. If you mean "1%" as in the Occupy Wall Street sense, they don't sit around and do nothing. They do most things in this country and pay the bills. If you meant the 1% that play professional baseball, nevermind. Yes, we are all talking about Prior's former career as wealthy Wall Street executive. Nice political rant having to do with nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. If he wants to play, thats fine, but he better not have surgery after either. If he wants surgery he better wait until 2013 off season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. They need to at least give Williams a shot to beat out Webb. At the very least, he's the potential swing tackle if there is an injury, so he needs work there. (Louis could move to RT, but probably not LT) As far as Webb we can only hope that actually being able to work with Tice this summer will help him improve. One thing for sure, his credibility is at stake here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Teams will be so scared of Cutlerc and company they'll drop 11 in coverage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
