  1. He isnt a defender at all, but he has enough physical talent that Thibs should be able to make him a good system defender if he is willing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Where's Deng going to be? Is he expected to miss time at the start? If he opts for wrist surgery. Total unknown at this point though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hmm, could this be an opening? As much as LaHair isn't fit to hold Joey Votto's jock strap, he could be the best option as a 2 week fill in for the Reds. 2 weeks is a long time to go without your top hitter. After Votto's back, LaHair can be a bat off the bench, and ultimately take over LF be it this season or next. Basically, a cheaper Ludwick. no one gives up anything of value for two weeks. Even if it was two weeks of Babe Ruth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. He gonna go pay for pizza he didn't order? Weird. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Fyi for everyone. Forget any sign and trades with Asik. We can't offer 3/25 (but we can match)... Just a weird loophole. Best we could offer was 4/25 which we did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Yea, it was almost guaranteed the Bulls would pick Rose. And about half the country disagreed with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. maybe it wasn't during the ncaa tournament, but by draft time rose was definitely the consensus #1. No, it wasn't. Depending on where you read maybe you thought otherwise. Chicago media definitely leaned Rose, but not on a national level. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Paxon's biggest mistake was not making the trade up to grab Wade in '03. I believe the cost for that was Donyell Marshall. Regarding blowing things up, the Bulls were one of the first teams to prepare for Summer 2010. They were shedding contracts way back to the Noce/ Salmons/Miller trade. Yea they missed out on their target, but you can accuse them of toiling. They always had a very soecific goal in mind that gave them the best chance to get a star. It failed, but they planned terifically. They've made plenty of moves that made them worse (or at least where the consensus was so) in the hope of either shedding salaries for future use or getting picks (Crawford, Curry, Hinrich) Lastly, stating they lucked into Rose ignores that at best fans, media, and other teams were split 50/50 on Rose/Beasley. And I'd say Beasley was slightly favored because of the old myth that you always go big. And the Bulls had a 16/6 and 20 pt scorer at the guard spots and had lacked a big man who could score since Curry. It wasn't a consensus #1 draft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Doesnt his lack of ceiling have a lot to do with him possibly not sticking at 3B? As a LF or 1B he isn't as thrilling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Process >>>>>>>>> Outcome Oh, that's right. when you evaluate a process, you entirely ignore the outcome. don't collect information about the outcome b/c that can't inform your process evaluation. Who said its about ignoring the outcome. You place that outcome along with the vast set of outcomes from similar scenarios and continue to go with whatever the results say is the best process. I'm willing to bet when you stack this trade against all the similair trades like it, the results say this type of trade is at worst neutral, even if this one flopped. 11. NBA easily has the worst CBA of any major sport. No max salaries and a hard cap at roughly the current tax level would be awesome. But you have to have some "mechanism" that allows teams to cut salary, which is tricky with guaranteed contracts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. The no tax thing sucks, but now it actually penalizes you more than just money, so its smart to try and not continuously be in the tax. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Nit pick: Korver is guaranteed 500k. In nba money thats basically nothing, but it should be noted. Watson and Brewer as trade chips have sailed. Brewer is easily a goner. Watson depends on what else we can find cheaper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I'd trade Deng and Noah for Dwight if I am confident the Nets won't be able to clear cap room for 2013. So basically if they were to extend Williams, finalize the JJ trade and extend Lopez. But if there's any chance they'd be able to shed salary I'm not dealing for a unextended Dwight. As it stands, I could write the script. Dwight plays here with Rose for about 20 awesome games and then bolts to Brooklyn for some absurd reason. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Also a lot of this Asik mess could have been avoided with a third year on his original contract. Although obviously there is incentive for a player to hit free agency as quickly as possible so maybe a two year deal was all that was in the cards. But with a full year we'd have full bird rights, not to mention he'd still be under contract. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. You're misunderstanding how the rules work. Houston didn't structure the deal like that. Its illegal to backload like that. They are using cap space so they can offer whatever they'd like, within the confines of their available cap room. If we didn't have the clause to be able to match, our max offer could only be roughly MLE money. If we had cap space we could match the deal and structure it how we like. Its the difference between early bird and full bird rights. To your point about Houston having to pay how we would, thats silly because we're already the ones being accomodated. They shouldn't be punished just because they have cap space. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Well the original loophole allowed Gilbert Arenas to leave without GS having any chance to even match. The fix was less than perfect but an improvement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. What? Are there actually rumors of Charlotte or anyone folding? In any case, I'd think the pick would just become unprotected and entered in the lottery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Does anyone recall something about something in the new cba about restricturing deals to shift around cap hits? For some reason I feel like i read something to that effect and thats the only way I could see the Bulls making that final year work (thereby having to extend him and give more guarnteed at that point) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Just FYI, that third year is only like that if we match. If Houston gets him it will be distrbited evenly, or with the max raises at 6%. Something like 8, 8.4, 8.7. The reason we can even match is the "Gilbert Arenas" clause. Otherwise we could offer only the MLE as max, and not be able to meet that offer at all. Essentially we are getting him at the MLE for two years at which point we have full bird rights and the salary can jump. And it won't really have expiring value as he will be a BYC player and his contract is harder to move. Tough, but we have to let him go. My hope is thaf since its only verbal at this point, we can work out a S&T. Not a ton of motivation for Houston though unless they think we'll match. So basically we could bluff and say. Give us "deamand something outrageous" or you lose your center. Then negotiate down from there and hopefully get a second rounder or bench player in a cheap deal. Once the offer is actually signed we have to match or walk; no trades. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Lakers are shopping Gasol to try and get into the Lottery. Plus it doesn't make sense for the Bulls.
  22. The Cubs need to at least inquire. If its really gonna cost too much, they should bow out. My opening offer would be Vitters, Jackson, and low level guy who isn't top 20 in our system. They'd certainly come back with an offer, but it just depends on how much more. I'm not gonna lose sleep throwing in Russel, for instance. If they ask for Baez, I walk away. But i definitely see Jackson and Vitters as making sense for both sides, just a matter if thats enough as a headliner for the Pads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. What does that even mean? He has 10/5 rights. He doesn't need to fake an injury to avoid being traded. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Go Mark go! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Well jts at least nice to hear some of these players have a future in accounting after their careers are done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
