  1. Did the sharks give him an offer too?
  2. It's over guys. Ohtani is in Toronto
  3. Very classy to go turn them down in person, after leaving LA to do same to Dodgers. Last leg of flight to new home soon.
  4. https://twitter.com/The_Cap_is_Fake/status/1733206009223561221?t=cnCS6IPSFAeye0nmigfzpw&s=19
  5. The level of fixing required to do that without the benefit of a lottery system would be pretty horsefeathers epic.
  6. Steelers my new second favorite team.
  7. I mean guys have returned in the day before NIL (Bradford, Luck). It won't be the sole reason, but could help tilt scales.
  8. Agreed, not sure it changes much for the Bears, if true other than pushing up every non QB up the board one slot. In particular it could impact the Bears if they are looking WR at pick 2 or in trade down. However I'm highly skeptical. Scrounge up low end Rd1 NIL money? Maybe. Top 5 pick money? Really defies believability. And like 12+ players I think are hitting the portal for OSU. They probably need to spread that around a bit.
  9. I don't know, most offseasomss have been really slow moving and thus relatively boring. Plus we'll never get a caliber of an Ohtani so there's less to be excited over ever again.
  10. Okay but the Boob one is legit. If he told me Ohtani to Cubs was done I'd have major fatalism right now.
  11. Stop sandbagging and enjoy hot stove season in all it's glory. With the way MLB has gone this could be one of the few good ones left.
  12. Gonna cling to the Boob effect until the very end /don't care
  13. Just here to pile on with the Nightingale jokes
  14. I realize they were metaphorical, but I think a 2nd best ACC team is gonna struggle to ever make it, even if they win it. We'll see how BigTen plays out. I guess they're doing away with divisions so it may help, but I could see a team playing it's way out of a CFP appearance with a bad CC appearance (or I guess an injury to their QB apparently)
  15. Louisville won't because they're in wrong conference. Iowa probably won't either but the BigTen team who doesn't have to put a new L on their resume probably will.
  16. Seems pretty clear the edge is gonna get set around BigTen and SEC 4/5 and most of the rest of the other conference options.
  17. Are we ready to skip past the middle step of the mega conference duopoly and go right to the relegation model that obviously makes ncaaf most fun?
  18. The 4 best argument thimg is of course subjective BS because OSU got zero play on that and most anyone would put them in that subjective conversation. It's just random timing and conference alignment that leaves them out of the same convo that people were also putting Georgia in.
  19. Thats the absolute dumbest rationale possible. It's the 2023 season, not the 10 year running championship. This is exactly the complex I'm talking about lol. SEC has apparently reached participation trophy level status. Absurd.
  20. So apparently the committee process is to first create groups of three and only use the h2h or other criteria among comparable teams? So for example Texas' h2h over Bama doesn't count if they aren't in the same group of 3. So basically there's a hugely consequential decision creating two groups of 3 among the top 7 and one schools accomplishments are basically unimportant. I guess that school is either OSU (for not playing) or Texas (for not winning against a good enough opponent). That call between OSU and Texas basically determines everything then, unless GA loss is deemed bad enough to drop them 6 spots.
  21. I'm an absolutely ncaa football casual, but have been mixing it up in the comments section of nccaf Twitter. SEC fans and their sense of superiority is insane. Arguments created out of cloth with no regard to CFP actual criteria. Appeals to results from 2021+2022.
  22. We'd get some seeding complaints at the very least. 😊
  23. There was some smoke about Cleveland trading up to 2. And Josh Lucas in one of his interviews alluded to that belief as well. Not sure anyone from SF ever has or will confirm if any real offer was on the table though. In any case there has been reporting that Mahomes and Trubisky were neck and neck in Bears org, so paying an insurance policy when that's your own internal evaluation and consensus boards were all split across 3 guys is obviously moronic.
  24. And if they don't take a QB top 2 in this draft they most likely would need to in order to get a similar caliber QB prospect again. QB is undoubtedly the one position you're allowed to trade up for.
