    Everyone needs to realize that it means parting with Noah. I'm cool with that but I sense most won't be. Also ideally, it means making Melo a SF again and dealing with any defensive downside that entails. But Rose-Butler-Melo-Mirotic-Taj is a pretty intriguing lineup even if I think it's totally questionable if it's better than what we have now+Mirotic

    If you're putting Vitters that low, you're basically just taking the lure of the unknown, a bunch of lottery tickets over actual minor league production. There's some serious doubts with Vitters particularly with his 2012 MLB showing, but there's still some skills there. You're talking about a lot of guys with 1-2 promising tools and then question marks about everything else. Vitters I guess has the disadvantages of having those unknowns displayed at higher levels, but has kept basically his best tool intact and is showing some progress in plate discipline. There's a lot less luster as a LF/1B than a 3B but in another system teams would probably be making more of an effort to keep him at 3B. Even as a backup CIF/COF bench player and possible platoon I think there's a lot to like. And is he really injury prone? Last year was really his only big injury year I recall. Also I wouldn't take 24 as a bad thing. They could keep him in AAA for part or the whole year and he still wouldn't be -whoa this guy is too old to be a prospect, old.

    Maybe they won't go all the way up to 100M but I find it pretty hard to imagine them not getting at least one more SP and possibly a second (even if it's a Baker injury gamble type) which could put at least another 10-15M in payroll, on short term deals.

    Vitters might be in the 30-40 range if he's lucky. I disagree. Once we get in the teen range were talking about a lot of lower level guys particularly lower level pitchers. Vitters wasn't able to rebound last season but was out due to injury. The small sample wasn't bad. Probably depends on how much you split ceiling verse floor. I'm not exactly sure where I have Vitters yet but there's probably a case verse Top 20.

    While they're not a playoff team with a good start maybe a good start is enough to avoid a trade deadline sell off

    I'd have to imagine they trade at least one of the slots. And even then you're probably talking about being real aggressive on the 100k range guys and just overpaying the ones you like the most.

    Great for them. Neither of them has run a playoff team since 2009. Priorities, I guess. Your dismissal of minor league playoffs is offensive.

    I went Vogelbach and Olt. Also while I'm not too close to voting for him yet I think Vitters should get added to the polls soon. He's right around that big mess of prospects in the teen range for me.

    I do like the idea of PATs being made slightly more difficult. Put it on the 15 and snap from there. Does the two point still start from the 2 and a half? Can you fake it from the 15? Is that one or two?

    Wait why don't we just move back the PAT and make it like, a 35 yard attempt? And the kick block team can bring on a 12th player, but it has to be a Polar Bear. Brought to you by Coca Cola.

    How about keep the PAT but if a kicker misses he gets his foot chopped off. Sure it only happens 4 times a year but fans will be on the edge of their seat every time.

    I believe at least that many people believe in some type of inconsistencies. Not all truthers are going to be full on Loose Change toting lunatics. But it is enough of a reason for me to hate Carroll, particularly lumped together with the person we know him to be as a whole.

    They're gonna announce a Wrigley resolution, a TV deal, and Tanaka signing all in a week. Its happening. No one tell me otherwise.

    I mean, is the west coast thing really that big of a deal? You spend half the summer on the road, and you don't get enough consecutive days off from February through September to make any 24+ hour round trips worthwhile.

    Interesting. He sucks as a head coach, but was LB coach for the Cowboys earlier in the 2000s. Also Dolphins DC. Gets a lot of credit for the development of Demarcus Ware as an OLB. Also of note, he's primarily has coached 3-4 defenses in the NFL. Shea, meet your new coach.

    I figured the MLB had an enforced monopoly on the internet, but do they? I mean like besides whatever business hurdles exist, is a team disallowed from selling internet media rights?

    All the chatter lately (mostly from the Mooney piece) has been about a bridge deal with Fox locally (WFLD 32) for the WGN games, and then going RSN with Fox after the CSN deal is up. Fox is making a big push to expand Fox Sports. Right I understand all that. To be clear, when I say RSN related, it's with the understanding that there is a bridge until 2019. Still, feels like there could be something else entirely if I wanna read into his blog post too much. I don't think the way we watch sports/baseball is going to change all that much in the next 5-6 years. Probably not, but what about 10-15? I'm not putting more that Derrick Rose lottery chances on any speculation, just trying to think outside of the obvious lines that are being drawn between concurrent rumors.
