I'd rather hang out and call sports with Burkhart on Sundays and live in Nashville Monday-Saturday than play QB for the horsefeathering Jets and live in NJ. Jay is a smart man. Please don't change too much though my beautiful bird.

It is a deeper class next year. Sam Darnold, all of 9 starts under his belt, does look like the next big thing, and if you tried would struggle to be in a spot to grab him. Josh Rosen looks talented, but just missed half of this season's campaign to injury and apparently has off field concerns. Josh Allen, one season against subpar competition. However unsure anyone feels about Trubisky and lack of experience, you should feel approximately 100 times less sure of Allen. Those are probably the consensus top 3, then you have Falk, Browning, Rudolph, Jackson in the next teir and then several more amongst the teir after. But overall, while definitely a deep group, other than the guy with 366 passes and THREE remaining years of eligibility, none of these guys look like anything that wasn't available this draft or the previous one, just a bit deeper perhaps. But on top of that analysis, whether you want to quibble with the above or whatever, all that still really matters is ; Was Trubisky worth what we paid for him now? If the rest of the 2017 class would be third rounders next year, all that really matters still is how Trubiksy ranks now.

Yeah, who would want a QB next year, what with that class being universally considered to be far better than this year? Oh, I didnt realize you got to draft a class of quarterbacks, thought you only got one. Good to know.

Just going off the "traditional" trade chart, that doesnt get close. Represents about 80% value of what it needs to. Based off an analytical model, its like 80% excess value... So analytics say you run with that, but as a market participant you're kind of leaving "easy" value on the table... kind of an intetesting. Personally at that high in the draft, I'd say stick to market values/trends. Use the analytical model to get deals later on. I realized that as well. But I don't know, how well has that chart held up for the most recent major trade-ups on draft day? Genuinely curious. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk Without doing the math, I think most QB trade ups have equaled #1 pick value at least, including the trades up to 2. Can't recall any recent trade ups that high that werent for a QB.

I love Jay just as he is, but he could only be a good broadcaster if hes been hiding a horsefeathers load of charm the past 11 years. Don't be full of charm. You're total lack of giving a horsefeathers what people think is what makes you endearing. I disagree. I want to see Jay sneer at a QB's lack of arm strength. "Jesus, really? He can't make THAT throw?" I want to see him laugh at all the dropped passes. Let him throw in some Urlacher hair comments each broadcast. Sneer at his broadcast partner, "You guys are clueless, aren't you?" Even that much would be too much effort for Jay. "Trubisky drops back rifles a pass over the middle, picked off by Kuechley! Jay, walk us through what happened on that pick" "He threw the ball to the other team" "Can you elaborate" "The other team caught it. Back to you Joe" "Jay you're not giving us much color here" "Don't care" *Smokes cigarette during halftime recap* Thats the only version of Jay I want to see.

I had a vague sense of liking Trubisky after reading about him going back a couple months and am perfectly happy with him going forward. I remain highly skeptical of Pace's ability to surround Trubisky with a good team, which is how Seattle and Dallas helped their young guys succeed so early. And I really don't think Fox is the right head coach to develop the guy. I'm just going to treat 2017 as no expectations, expect fun bad (holy crap if butt fumble plays a lot, can you imagine?). Will Fox go off script and demand Mitch play early on at the first sign of Glennon being Glennon? Everybody is playing nice now, but there is high probability of things getting ugly between Pace, Fox, Dowell, Glennon and Trubisky and this doesn't even take into account the potential for offense vs defense mutiny. I'd put my money on Vic surviving that battle. Yea, low expectations is definitely true. And I get sunday tickey free this fall, so I'm adopting Houston as my fun-good team (hopefully), and I still get to go all meatball for Watson.

Thanks At some point in the offseason I began flirting with Trubisky as my top QB prospect before reverting back to Watson, but I really cant kick the feeling I'm just fighting with my inner meatball and Trubisky is the clear better prospect and I should be as excited for Trubisky as I would have been for Watson.

I still think it'll be tricky to fire Fox, while giving Pace an extension, on some level. Fox "retiring" seems like the best way out, in my mind. As far as Trubisky goes, over/under 100 passes thrown in 2017? I believe they will go with the "mutual decision to go in another direction" approach. Fox will get paid to not coach in 2018, when he'll be 63 and coming off three straight crappy seasons. Fox would theoretically be available for another job, if there was a talented veteran team that needed a stable coach. But my guess is he'll ride into the sunset and fish with all the other guys while making occasional TV gigs (if those still exist by then). I'm guessing the Fox cutoff for return is 8 wins. Pace, 3 (not my personal cutoff, just a prediction).

Yea, he's probably one of the more interesting UDFA names to watch. Assuming Royal is eventually cut, the number 5 WR spot should be pretty wide open, which is really like the no 4 WR with Whites health.

I'm just confused at his general point. We have, collectively teams trading up 30 spots for QBs and rumors of interest for trades up to 5 for the very QB the Bears picked, and some interest for unconfirmed positions as high as 2 and 3. Maybe most the world thinks hes crazy, but apparently the part of the world in his same position is pretty split on the matter.

The former was so successful the latter was unnecessary. Thats getting pretty close to being a narrative we can accept, right?

Man, I was really wanting Cutler to end up on Houston. Actually I think they should still be pretty fun to watch with Watson, but Cutler would have been fun as hell there.

Bears sign Bradley Sowell. 6 starts at LT and 3 at RT for Seahawks last year. 12 start at LT for Arizona in 2013. Will compete for swing tackle spot.

Thanks, pretty good article; I actually think Chicago fans are struggling with this based on what I've seen/read elsewhere. We're a collectively a scarred bunch and just want our comfort zone of great defenses and Jim Miller-Shane Matthews, Rex Grossman-Kyle Orton QB battles. Since when was Grossman anything like those others Uh, statistically he was.
