    Draft picks. Lots of them Sure. If LeBron wasn't there anymore. Is there a realistic package from anyone the Cavs will actually trade him for? I'm skeptical.

    It's just really dumb. Of course we're gonna talk about a contract in a big trade. Its good to be excited about the player Quintana, and simultaneously okay to reference the contract in discussing why the trade is good and why it was okay to trade our top two prospects. He's a dumb hack writer trying to make it seem like the latter invalidates the former. While he criminially underrates Quintana, evwn if it was true, a reliable #3 would go a long way to righting the track this year.

    The weird and hilarious thing about it is that they're in first place and rationalizing how 2021 is the year. Like I'm sure to keep sane, many posters here circa 2011 many were plotting the Cardinals demise, but we were in last place. It was our only hope.

    If you want to read about terrible logic from a Sox fan view, read some of the people upset at Rick Hahn. I don't know how if you were a Sox fan you could hate this deal either. http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=146828 I can understand if they don't like it, but what I find best are Sox fans that are only upset because it was a trade with the Cubs.

    -Quintana is a #3 on a good team -re: then Lester is a #3 and won the WS as the best pitcher on the team -were not getting prime Lester! Uh okay? Though it can be noted 2016 WS Lester was within 1 WAR of prime Lester, and Quintana is very close to that Lester too, even this year, a down year, no worse than a down year for Prime Lester. As far as a hypothetical Lester trade; Age-Salary 34-22.5m 35-22.5m 36-15m 37-25m 29-8.85 30-10.5 31-11.5 No, I don't think he's fetch as much.

    http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/cubs-accurately-rate-underrated-jose-quintana/ Lester is also 6.5 years older. Compare his 2009-2011 stats with Quintana Lester won a World series for the Cubs in 2009-11? Damn that makes last year much more anticlimatic.

    GW RBI went to Zobrist, even though Cleveland scored a run in the bottom of the 10th. In hockey, what you said would be true for the GW goal. Might gets the "Go ahead" Zobrist the GW.

    The Bears had good lines with the good lovie teams, they were just patched together with 29 year old free agents and they ignored the line in the draft so it fell apart quickly. I think a strong line can go a long way to help a less talented team stay competitive. You still need your skill guys to win you games, but the line can cover for some of your weaknesses. Yup. Plus I'm not sure the adage about strong lines is inaccurate. The Bears had injury along both those lines, particularly D-Line, and solid line play can only do so much to overcome Hoyer/Barkley QB play for 72% of your snaps.

    I've heard Michael cares way more about the Bulls than Sox. It's just a different structure overall though. Reinsdorf is one of many minority owners, but the sole general partner for the limited partners. So he has complete control of the investment, but carries a fiduciary responsibility to those LP's, and likely the partnership would contain provisions that the LPs could vote to remove the general partner. Not sure if I've ever heard that the succession plan is definitely that Michael would inherit the businesses. Maybe Jerry will realize his investments and cash out and and dissolve the partnership before he dies.

    Plus I'm totally prepped for the return on any such deal to be a former mid lotto PG instead of a pick and the Bulls to throw in a future second.

    Its hard enough getting a max guy to come to Chicago, if the Bulls are already good. I don't think you're getting them with a 25 win roster. I think its definitely a few years of high picks and hoping to draft a star before you're in the picture of any max guys considering them. Any cap space the Bulls have should be used for absorbing bad contracts in exchange for lottery picks. Its a reasonable request from a fan perspective, but with the rising cap and less years on deals, there's a lot less opportunity than there used to be. There's really only a handful of teams with long term cap issues and at least a third of the league probably wouldn't need a cost saving deal like Rondo as a quick fix for immediate cap space.
