  1. They definitely sunk a lot of resources into improving it. This is an improved Packers D, and assuming Rodgers was also just dealing from the rust of no preseason as well, this Packers team will compete for the division crown again. It's improved however, there were plenty of openings to exploited, average to good QB play would have put way more than 3 points on the scoreboard. 10 points, maybe, with that play calling.
  2. Yep. Next year though, would be great to bring in a young QB behind Mitch. Don't need to spend 5M again on a coach in pads. Let's get a possible contingency plan to making an average QB one of the highest paid players in the game in 2 years. Replacing Mitch with cheap, but adequate QB play is probably the only way to extend the window if Mitch isn't making that leap. It sucks with such a lack of draft picks but it's almost a requirement to draft a QB in each of the next two drafts* *assuming no dramatic turnaround from trubisky Yup.
  3. No. Chase Daniel is hot garbage and there is no point in playing him. Make Mitch play all year, whether he sucks, struggles or improves. Yep. 4. I'm not nearly enough of an expert to assign an exact percentage live, but I'm pretty sure that not going down the field wasn't playcalling but rather a combination of the offensive line not giving him any time and Trubisky panicking and checking down too early. how good is GB's Dline anticipated to be? Was last night a harbinger of our Olines season ahead, or GB's Dline? They definitely sunk a lot of resources into improving it. 5. It wasn't about just running it more. Many of the pass plays that were called were of basically the same concept. Look 10 yards down the field. If that pass isn't available, force it anyway or dump it. There was no attempt to spread the field in the entire first half. The safeties were leaning forward on every play call because every play that was called was in front of them. You brag about having all of this amazing speed (Cohen, Gabriel, Patterson) and you do absolutely nothing with it. Maybe the coach knows more about Trubisky than we do, and that spreading the field is just not an option with this QB. If that's the case, it's going to be a long season. Pack dropped 7 and rushed 4 most of the time in the first half. If they're getting decent pressure with those 4, which they did, any offense is going to struggle, but Nagy definitely didn't come up with an answer to it in the second. Rushing more probably would have been a reasonable option though.
  6. Plus a 96 passer rating in the favorable sample side split is pretty average in today's NFL.
  7. Through a half of rewatching offensive plays and Mitch was probably the 4th or 5th "best" offensive player (low bar) last night after AR, Montgomery, Whitehair, and probably Cohen. Maybe Davis was better too, but the rest of the line, the other WRs and the TEs all sucked. Nagy takes the cake for suckiness though above them all.
  8. Starting to re-watch the offensive plays this morning and my early hot take is that Nagy being outcoached is more to blame than Mitch last night. The line also gets equal blame, a couple times already that Pack got a good rush with no blitzes and I already know they were penalized a bunch later in the game. One play that really stuck out early was his first real throw (following a batted pass and a scramble) . A designed roll out boot with 7 man protection and GB drops 7 in coverage. So GB has 2 in coverage to every 1 Chicago receiver on the short side of the field. And the outside rusher still got a hand in Mitch's face. Mitch way over throws Tarik on the boundary. He really only makes that one read, but it was really a 1 or 2 read play in which case, "throw where no one can get it" was the best decision. But that was only after being out schemed and outplayed on the line. I suspect this is what I'll find the rest of the game, that Mitch made a few bad mistakes, but penalties, line/TE play and play calling limit him before he even can even try and get going. We really learned anything new about Mitch last night. He'll have some baller games again this year, but you just have to keep the perspective that he's only ever gonna do that within the system and never going to lift up poor play (and definitely not poor play calling). He's not gonna be a Rodgers or even a Rivers or Ryan, but Nagy has to figure out how to make him a Flacco or Eli Manning so this defense isn't wasted.
  9. Will Antonio Browns descent into madness be the best NFL storyline this year?
  10. That's a really low franchise single season total.
  11. If she hasn't just blocked you yet there's definitely a chance.
  12. Figured this was coming as they moved around some cap hits the other week. Yeah this was expected, but good to see pen to paper. I thought I read they had $20+ million free, so I'm curious where the rest of that money is going (or maybe this deal is just crazy front-loaded?) Doubtful there's another extension candidate. Maybe Bush if they felt they could lock him in on a cheap deal and replace Ha Ha next year.
  13. Figured this was coming as they moved around some cap hits the other week.
  14. Theory. They want to IR Coward due to his elbow, but with designation to return. Which means he has to make the initial 53 man. Let Bars through waivers, IR Coward today or tomorrow and sign Bars. Or they just think Bars will pass through waivers and they'll sign him to PS.
  15. Criteria Top 10 type kicker on roster No extra camp body Home for last preseason game
  16. Theres a lot of optimism here. 1. Trusting any brain trust to replace 2/5 of a line... (side note, Massie's new deal prerty much ensures he's here next year). A Whitehair extension in the next week would put the line in a decent shape for 2020 though. 2. Gabriel and a couple guys with zero or near zero NFL production replacing AR? Hopefully its the young guys replacing Gabriel if anything. 3. Tolliver, was he active in amy game last year? Again that certainly requires quite a bit of hope. 4. I think you might have exceeded the cap with the guys you just listed (assuming Trubisky is worth a 2nd contract)
  17. I think Pace just converted more roster bonuses to signing bonuses (or some shenanigans) last week. Speculated that would be for a Whitehair extension. So hes trying his damnedest to extend that window another year or two past this year, which inevitably comes at a price at some point. But if he can keep finding loose change in the couch cushions before Trubisky is a top 5 paid player for a few years, its probably the right move.
  18. I think the one big thing you are missing is that the injury was supposed to be minor. Luck gets hurt. He thinks it's going to get better in a couple weeks, and the doctors back that up. It just needs some rest. There's no reason to think about retirement at that point. Now fast forward four months. It still hasn't healed. 3 different MRI's have been taken, and nobody seems to quite know what's wrong. So now it's turned into a long period of exploration/rehab/playing through pain. It's probably been very frustrating for him, and that's why suddenly the retirement thing started looking better and better. The Colts are likely in the same place if he had retired in June as now. Obviously if he had retired before the draft that isn't the case, but that's right around when he got hurt. Yeah and I mean I get that. Again, I’m trying to look at this objectively as possible. I never played even a snap of pop warner football (and maybe that’s my disconnect). But, it would seem to me if this were solely a personal decision that the timing of it just seems inconsiderate of the other 70+ players out there trying to win in 2019. I’m probably showing my stupidity because I know nothing of being a professional football player. But so far as I can tell it seems a little bit inconsiderate to do this now when so many of his teammates are counting on him. Yes, it’s his decision and we’re a Colts fan I certainly would be disappointed but say no more than I’m saying here. It’s his decision and his right but that doesn’t mean it’s not kind of horsefeathers up for his teammates. I mean no doubt they're disappointed, but if they dont support him at the end of the day, horsefeathers 'em.
  19. Just sign Bryant and be done with it. However, I like that K from LSU. I doubt it's gonna be Bryant. He would have been brought in at this point. Hell, he may even just be waiting for a domed team to call even if the Bears called. It could be one of the various teams that still has a K competition ongoing though. At least if someone good doesn't get cut though they are getting Pineiro all the reps at this point though.
  20. Well, they're unionized.
  21. Rizzo missing from that list. Going with "Tony" again.
  22. Sounds like a... nice... day for piniero
  23. Javy. Cindy is a clubhouse cancer.
