  1. It's basically a two year commitment. Pretty much all 3 deals are.
  2. Per reporting from Courtney Cronin Dayo Odeyingbo's deal is a 13.5m signing bonus and 3m base salary in 2025 and 500k roster bonus. That should equate to a year 1 cap hit of 8M (assuming no voids which I have zero reason to think Poles would, even though he should). Definitely more backloaded than most of Poles big deals have been.
  3. We don't have any structure details that I've seen. So we can only guess and reiterate Poles has the flexibility to do anything he wants to do cap wise.
  4. That 5 minute negotiation is gonna go so hard
  5. I don't know how accurate either Over the Cap or Spotrac are right now because both/either might be already adjusting for tradess that haven't happened yet. I think tonight all the final accounting for the current league gets finalized, which will finalize rollover and all that. But anyways when you're so far over you're generally not gonna do any restructuring. If Poles finally decides to use restructure levers he can do it later on as needed. The only teams restructuring now are generally ones who need to get into the black. Rest will wait and the only urgency is due dates of guarantee/vesting dates on things like roster bonuses that typically will occur within first 3-7 days of new league year. Anyways Bears can afford to do anything. But as much as I'm a proponent of doing all the silly cap stuff I do think there becomes a excess within any current year. Not because the total leverage is too much, but it does create timing cliffs that can be arduous to manage. I just hope they overspend the cap by like 10% and then never stop doing that forever.
  6. I mean they *could* afford him they just don't want to.
  7. Yea I think KC is making the right move and it's still about as good as Chicago can expect to do also to improve their interior on a short term basis. But the absolutely need to develop their own Trey Smith's who they're tagging in 4 years and disappointing some other sad sack franchise. Like I'd rather have Trey, but that's not the reality of the situation (though reportedly Poles did make offers for Smith before pivoting to Thuney).
  8. Stonks meme guy but it's Poles. The guy is a true trader.
  9. You got faked out by a fake account?
  10. Jersey Jerry is the source? 😒
  11. Kind of yea. Bottom line is they've just been a "low end" spender for a while now. Here's 2011-2022 (and last two years didnt change much) Also a cool visualization I just saw about guarantee+dead cap commitments for each team. This is a really good high level way to view cap flexibility for all teams. @reinhardNFL on Twitter for source image.
  12. Well that was a weird post.
  13. Chiefs can keep Smith and do whatever they want. The limiting factor is probably their cheap ass owner.
  14. Yea he did. One bad day shouldn't dissuade though.
  15. Hope everyone followed my Eagles ML and made big bucks tonight.
  16. Put ball pit balls in front of the 19 month old. Red and Green. She only wanted the Green. Eagles ML.
  17. Yea I saw cancer, but sounded like it was pretty recently diagnosed. May have been a fairly quick timeline.
  18. RIP. 2001 was fun. Seemed like a legitimately well liked as a coach by his players. Sounds like it may have been pretty sudden too.
  19. With the chance to put a real secretary on the board, sky is the limit
  20. It's possible selling is just part of plan, but yea, they've had plenty of notice here, and they've been making some big investments along way. It's not like they'll be forced to sell. NFL has also revised a few different rules in past couple years to allow for more diluted ownership structures.
  21. I mean it's not even MLE money. Vet leadership (no matter what route they're going)
  22. Logically the biggest thing with age is the body slowing down. The thing is there is tons of player tracking data that can tell you in real terms and live how players are slowing down or not. Supposedly the reason the Rams are moving in from Kupp is for this reason (and they've long been a leader in player tracking data). Granted you'll have better data on your own guys (practice data), but this is probably a fairly cutting edge analytics thing. Someone out there can probably do some real time data stuff with Garrett to make better predictions on aging than just looking at a calendar (and as the data accumulates would be able to predict these aging curves with more accuracy). It seems like Garret would profile positively to guys with body types and athleticism that allows for good aging. But making a qualitative assessment on that would be better.
  23. Chicken or Egg doesn't really matter. Except for extreme circumstances you should be acting like a team who can win, but not a team destined to win. So ever thinking your window is so immediate that you're reckless is as silly as thinking your window is years away. Both overstate anyone's predictive abilities on these things. https://www.nfl.com/news/philadelphia-s-superpower-eagles-became-nfc-s-best-team-through-furious-fearless-roster-renovation?campaign This article is full of good quotes, but I think a great summary is basically "this stuff is kind of hard but the easiest thing is to just try". Trying to line up windows is 100% wasted energy trying to analyze your window.
  24. Incidentally I was just making this point on my Twitter account today. Eagles at end of 2020 were a closed window team by conventional wisdom. They were projected 70m over the cap. 4 win season. And they "didn't have a QB". Except they did have a QB. Minny this year let go of their franchise QB and their new 1st round QB got injured. And yet they still ended up "having a QB". SF busted on their new QB a few years ago and wait for it.... Still had a QB! So no the have a QB thing isn't really even a pre-requisite. Just loser talk mostly.
  25. Windows are a myth
