  1. An oldie but a goody. Back story? I believe it's from Cubs.com. Some cards fan (hogcard or something?) came on the board in early 2003 and started a thread saying exactly that. The better Zambrano did over the course of the season, the more that got bumped.
  2. Not Sosa's 98...
  3. Did anyone see video highlights of yesterday's game? Pie's swing on the HR looked a lot less loopy to me.
  4. It's from OH. A poster there claimed the Cubs scouts were at the Orioles/Marlins game to look at Ross (as well as Roberts).
  5. Ramirez is gonna sit out one or two more days due to some soreness in his right shoulder, according to Bruce Levine.
  6. It really sucks even more because Brown was hurt in the way he was. Didn't some douche from SD horse-collar him or something after a play was over (or something like that)?
  7. I honestly don't agree that terrible bathrooms, obstructed view seating, and, to some extent, extremely cramped concourses (not sure how much they can do about that) are any part of what makes it Wrigley to me. The aesthetics of the field, walls, scoreboard, etc and the fact that you are so close to the field are what makes Wrigley awesome to me. None of that would be lost.
  8. Hahah, are you serious? Wow, what a tard. One sec, please. loooooooool I'm drunk so this is extra funny (note that I'm not pretending I can't type just because I'm drunk).
  9. Mauer already taken 27th by Vance. That would be a hell of a steal.
  10. 85. JJ Putz 86. Takashi Saito 87. Jose Valverde 88. Todd Helton
  11. I heard Ron mention during todays radio broadcast that he thinks the Cubs will make a move before the start of the season. I also have heard that the O's had a few scouts in attendance at todays game and also the Cubs had scouts watching the O's. It should be interesting to see how this plays out and if a trade finally gets done. It was also mentioned over at "OH" that if the O's were to deal Roberts that they had no shot at Texeria. It would be interesting to see how that plays out as Texeria is represented by Boras and if they might hold on to Roberts in hopes of signing Tex. It should also be mentioned that Texeria is from the Baltimore area but would this signing make sense with the way the O's have been cutting payroll?? Can you also believe that "Traschel" is a lock to make the O's rotation and shows you how bad a shape they are in. I did find this interesting as this was a quote from the manager that he mentioned that the #5 pitcher in the rotation might come from another team. Thanks for the updates.. As for the bolded, one poster mentioned reading that rumor in a blog or something, and everyone else said it was complete BS (for obvious reasons).
  12. It seems a lot harder to actually attempt to compare them, since they're completely different. Other than the fact that they're both play by play guys for the Chicago Cubs. That's about the only thing. Well, apparently, his "comparison" is that Len Kasper sucks and Pat Hughes is awesome. Isn't that good enough? (Note - Len is awesome)

  14. Soriano's numbers do not inherently drop just by not leading off. Don't even bother. He's 100% convinced that it's fact.
  15. 73. Dan Uggla 74. Gary Sheffield 75. Jonathan Paplebon 76. Daisuke Matsuzaka 77. Hunter Pence 78. Tim Lincecum 79. Rich Hill 80. Nick Markakis 81. Rickie Weeks
  16. With the exception of the concerts at Wrigley (if they were his brainchild). Torn up fields suck.
  17. Count me as one who has no problem with the UA signage in the outfield and one who thinks John McDonough was great for this organization.
  18. Not well. In fact, so not well that I think I remember Lou getting pissed at how bad he was after one inning and pulling him and putting DeRosa there.
  19. Did Soto hit anything to CF or LF? Or were all the balls he hit (including the fouls) pulled? JW, I know he pulled the ball a lot last year, and I know they were trying to get him to be less pull happy this year.
  20. Roberts is 1 for 1 with 2 SBs, 1 R and 1 RBI today In case anyone was wondering.
