  1. For some reason, I thought this thread was referring to Ronny Cedeno.
  2. I certainly wouldn't go, that place is just unsafe. Its in the ghetto. I went there once for an interleague game and just about got knifed in the parking lot before the game. lulz
  3. The sad thing? Augie's numbers the last few years have been barely worse than Theriot's. And Theriot is our starting SS. And he isn't even very good at fielding SS either. So, seriously, what are his redeeming qualities (besides grit)?
  4. Did you just mention Augie Ojeda among a list of possible reasons that the DBacks might be willing to move Hudson?
  5. You can bet that (not that he had much chance anyway) Cuban would probably lose most, if not all, interest in buying the team if they part it out this way. I remember him mentioning last fall that he was waiting to see the details on what would be included in "the package."
  6. my guess is they'll do something very similar to Soldier Field, wherein they retain the facade of the park and gut all the stands /clubhouses and start over As long as they keep the big things that make it Wrigley Field, I'm ok with it. Keep the scoreboard, the Ivy, the brick, the bullpens along the foul lines, and the Wrigleyville atmosphere. Don't give me any damn jumbotrons. Quite honestly any new ballpark would get rid of certain things. The Ivy is gone unless they can figure out away to grow it through padded walls. Same thing goes for the brick. Because they would have to build it to code. They don't necessarily have to rebuild the outfield wall or the bleachers (which were just rebuilt, anyway).
  7. There is so much I would love to say on this topic but unfortunatley I can't!!! ](*,) Well I'm sure the kid will be alright! If you produce, good things will happen if it's with the Cubs or anyone else. Maybe he means that he already knows that it's pretty likely that Sean will be starting in Baltimore. Then again, they wouldn't have had him take pictures on team photo day if they had him on his way out. Maybe Marquis and Pie are gone. Yea, that's it.
  8. I think he was just making the point that wrigley is focusing too much on Roberts' ability to steal while overlooking the fact that Soriano's power will have him in scoring position too. Soriano hitting a double gets him on 2nd just like a hit or walk and a steal from Roberts does, and with less risk. As for speed, just about anyone short of maybe Geovany Soto should be scoring from first on a double pretty often.
  9. I wouldn't have a big problem with it. You can bet that they'd do it tastefully (as they've done with all the upgrades to the park), and it would be in the same neighborhood, which is a big part of the whole Wrigley thing. I have no problem with a bunch of aging concrete being torn down and replaced.
  10. Better than the Bears being in Champaign. They'd have to be a little creative with the scheduling to get 162+ games in one park.
  11. I heard the update too, but I didn't hear enough about it to post it. But I can confirm that the parts that I heard match up with that.
  12. i will simply say that i think you're overvaluing steals. Roberts getting a walk plus a steal = Soriano getting a double, only there is more risk in stealing the base. you also can't look at steals completely objectively between the two because it's possible that the O's manager called for them more than Lou. perhaps if Soriano was leading off for the O's he'd have 50 steals last year. you just can't make that comparison I'd think that with Roberts speed he would score from first on a Sori double in most cases. That is likely true. Seems completely random/irrelevant, though... :-k
  13. Is that Michael Wuertz who they have listed as Jason Marquis?
  14. BTW, just to further support Wrigley's point... Last 3 years Soriano .333 OBP Last 3 years Roberts .371 OBP 38 point difference. And that includes Soriano's career season in 06.
  15. That's nice of you to protect Mr. Miles. By the way, has that site been around for a while? I haven't heard of it and I've been on here for a few months now. I found it last week when it was posted in the comments section of Roast's blog. I posted the link in Rants and all hell broke loose and the thread wound up being deleted.
  16. Seriously, why do you keep saying Soriano's health is in question? Where do you find these things? He's not really wrong about that, although he is exaggerating the importance of it a bit. He also is right in that Lou has suggested he'll move him down in the order if the leg remains an issue.
  17. Guys. He's not a professional message board poster. He doesn't need to look up stats or pretty up his posts.
  18. Bottom right of the post you want to reply to. Click "quote."
  19. you don't mind him? He's good, "minding him" shouldn't even be an option. I like pretty much everything they've done so far this offseason. Clark and Olsen are both good receivers. I'm fine with Grossman, Orton and a draft pick (2nd, or preferrably, 3rd round or later) taking QB duties. I don't like the talk of possibly 4 QBs, unless the 3rd and 4th are both non Griese. Nothing against Brian, but if you are bringing back Orton and Rex, there's no value in Griese this year. I wish they'd get rid of Archuleta, although I'm still a little unsure about how his contract affects the cap. He's good. I just want Olsen getting the majority of the snaps next year. He's been pretty good the last two years (a big 180 from his past years, partly due to Grossman using him as more of a weapon in 2006). I certainly prefer Clark getting time over Gilmore, obviously, and I see the great position we're in having that tandem at TE. I just want Olsen to be the #1 option at the position.
  20. You have to be kidding. Also, it appears that he's under the impression that FJM is a Cubs-centric site. As for #2, is NSBB the only place you think people would have those types of opinions on baseball? Really?
  21. Do you know how to use the quote feature? The fact he was referring to (I'm pretty sure), BTW, was that Gallagher has pitched above AA.
  22. Fukudome Those pics were from before his introductory press conference.
  23. Wow. The guy seriously needs to stop talking. I can't stand when people perpetuate ignorance like that.
  24. ? Why? Because they picked up the sure-to-be-terrible Colon? I understand getting sick of them, but over this move? Fixed.
