  1. I wouldn't feel sorry for Rose for this being his rookie team. Most rookies of his quality are on FAR worse teams than this.
  2. I tend to agree with you, but hasn't the mindset been that bullpen performance is flukish by nature and that it's not smart to commit a whole lot of money to it anyway? Is our love for Woody clouding judgment? I think the biggest negative of losing Wood would be the fact that we'd lose Marmol in the highest leverage spots. Could the Cubs be smart enough not to just move him to the closer spot?
  3. If there's one thing I like about Hendry it's that he seems to go balls out.
  4. That's what I was thinking in the Dempster thread. But I truly hope not.
  5. I'm wondering if the whole Peavy situation and the reports of him palling around with Towers are just Hendry's way of playing poker. A bluff to lower Dempster's demands with no real possibility of a deal being reached. The idea that a package of our minor league scrubs and/or question marks at best could get Peavy is sort of mind boggling....but I sure as hell hope it's true.
  6. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1264646,cubs-peavy-110608.article Here's the actual DeLuca article.
  7. If Shark didn't have a no-trade clause I'd gladly trade him.
  8. That rotation beats the 2003/2004 rotations. Even on paper (ergo injuries not in play). Absolutely disgusting.
  9. When I wear a hat, I still wear my Cubs hat. The shirtzees are usually only brought out for games I attend.
  10. No the Grossman 2.0 last year (Where he was much better) loved tossing that fade route to Olsen. Were those fade routes actually completed? In the games where Grossman played after he got back, Olsen had: Raiders: no catches Seattle: 7 catches, 43 yards Denver: 1 catch, 10 yards Giants: 2 catches, 7 yards In the Washington game, all 3 of Olsen's catches were after Griese replaced Grossman. Their longest connection during that whole time? That 10 yard pass in Denver. That's a rather short fade pattern if it isn't in the end zone. Plus there were no TD catches. It looks like Olsen was only used only as a safety valve when Grossman came back. They didn't send him down the field at all. Olsen's value came last year only when Griese was in. There was one, IIRC, that was called back due to a completely unnecessary hold by Fred Miller... it was a long TD pass vs Denver. I could be wrong, but I don't think the play wouldn't have been completed had there been no hold. But yea, you're pretty much right. Just thought I'd toss that in because it came to mind right away.
  11. Heard a snippet on the ESPN1000 update that Levine is reporting that the Cubs are talking to the Marlins about Jeremy Hermida and Scott Olsen.
  12. Rumor has it he was with Kobe and they were looking for a package discount.
  13. Heard a snippet on the MJH show (ESPN1000) that Cuban was supposedly house hunting in the north shore.
  14. Just like most people are dumb, in general. Hell, message boards make fan-bases seem smart (relative to reality). Think about that for a second.
  15. i'm pretty sure that derosa is earning his keep. I don't think he's saying that any of them weren't. He's arguing that the offense should be good enough no matter what else is in the lineup with those guys.
  16. What would the major flaw be? I noticed him stepping up in the pocket and didn't see him make any bad decisions, which are the two biggest knocks on him. The other major knock being his height/mobility. Not sure he can do anything about those. Now, I'm not saying I believe he has eliminated either of those problems, but I didn't see him do either of those things today so I'm just trying to see what it appears that he hasn't corrected.... *shrug* If anything, it was his biggest strength which was a no-show in today's game (downfield accuracy).
  17. That'll happen when you play how we did in the first half
  18. I think you're in the wrong thread. :)
  19. I'm a Rex homer but I thought he looked decent considering the rust. The things he's usually bad at he seemed to do well... but his downfield accuracy, his biggest strength, just wasn't there. Not sure what to make of that last part.. hopefully just rust, because it looks like he'll be starting the rest of the way, IMO.
  20. His throws have been off (seems rusty) but his decision making looked good and he stepped up in the pocket.
  21. GOD FORBID HE CELEBRATE SCORING A TD PLAYING IN HIS FIRST GAME IN ALMOST A YEAR!* *outside of taking some handoffs in the last detroit game
  22. I'll take that bet. How much? Grossman has torched the Lions before. I don't really know how he's gonna do after all this time off, though.
  23. Oh, and Funk and King is an awesome booth and a significant upgrade over the garbage that has occupied the Bulls booth for a long time (they were decent during the dynasty but they just got worse and worse and worse since).
  24. While I agree, the ability of Rose to get to the basket will hopefully help overcome some of those bad shooting nights. i mean more assists all around. Thomas can be a better player if teams start collapsing on Rose in the paint. I hate Thomas trying to be a jump shooter. Where is the pick and roll with Rose and Thomas? Uncharacteristically I agree with you 100%. Del Negro needs to watch every New Orleans game from last year and see what they did with Paul and Chandler, and do the exact same thing with rose and thomas They actually did/are doing that. Literally. There was a story about it somewhere during training camp or the summer. Don't exactly remember where/when.
