  1. Nope, they were right to go for it. Care to explain why? How can you not take guaranteed points when you are down 2 scores? kicking a FG doesn't even take away your chance of winning with a td. If they were down 10, I could see the Bears justify it by saying that 2 TDs would give us a win, but a TD and FG would tie it. You kick the FG, then score a TD on the next drive and you win the game You're gambling you can punch it in from inside the 1. Yes, you need the FG but you also need the TD and that's a really good opportunity for it. Worry about the TD later. At least put yourself in a position to need only a TD later. I think we'll agree to disagree there. You need the TD either way. I think your odds of scoring from a yard out with an extra down and then getting to within field goal range on the next drive are better than of taking the FG and trying to score a TD on the next drive.
  2. I disagree. They're right there. There's no guarantee they'll be right there again. There is also no guarantee that you get the ball 2 more times if you fail to get in the end zone. Worry about getting the TD when you have the ball down 6 There's no question you're accepting that it's do or die if you go for it. I still think it's the right call, though.
  3. I disagree. They're right there. There's no guarantee they'll be right there again.
  4. If they knew they were going for it on 4th, I would much rather have seen a play action attempt on 3rd down than that freaking handoff to Jason McKie.
  5. This is the first hockey game I've attempted to watch in my life. Question... How often do power play situations generally result in a score?
  6. To be fair, Harden came cheaply because of his durability concerns. I agree that these crazy 5+ for one deals rarely happen in reality, though.
  7. Also by "deal structure" he means DEAL STRUCTURE. That author is freakin idiot. Zell wanted the deal structure to be heavily based on leveraging debt to avoid taxes. With the credit crisis, that obviously has to change. I emailed him about that and he claims that he specifically asked Cuban if he was referring to the price. I'm just thinking that was a polite way of brushing off the question without having to provide a much more complicated answer, but what do I know.
  8. For those of you with DirecTV, you should be able to watch tonight's game on channel 752. It's a League Pass preview and isn't blacked out for me.
  9. I think he'd exceed it if it meant having a legitimate title contender. I think he would've exceeded it without thinking twice for the 90's Bulls had this system been in place. The stories that we didn't get Kobe because of the luxury tax are at best unsubstantiated, as far as I know, and, IMO, a bunch of crap.
  10. Since when is Jerry Reinsdorf considered a cheap owner? wtf
  11. I tried to say this was a bad idea and got smacked down for it. We'll see. I'm trying to give him a chance, be the good Bulls fan. It's hard. I don't like him. He'll have to prove it to me with actual wins. I like him. I've read some good quotes about him and his philosophies. Gotta give him some time to adjust to coaching. It might take this team the entire season to get them playing the way he wants it to, or it might click right away on October 28th. There aren't too many Bulls fans that will be demanding a run in the playoffs this year, although if this team is where most think it is, they should be able to grab a playoff spot. This.
  12. Rose looks like he belongs. Great vision and had 3 assists in the first quarter, probably could/should've had 5 (one mishandled alley-oop and Hinrich missed a wide open shot). Also just missed on an alley oop pass to him from Hinrich (he got fouled and made 1/2 FTs). I'd like to see him attack the basket a little more. Also, Tyrus looks VERY good. He's hitting jumpers, flying everywhere on defense... made a pair of free throws. Rest of the team looks like crap. Larry Hughes needs to stop freaking shooting. Actually, he needs to stop playing.
  13. Worse than Ryan Theriot? Not even close Because Ryan Theriot didn't make several boneheaded mistakes throughout this season.
  14. I'm about as big a Cubs fan as anyone I know and I was "yucking it up" the same night of the game 3 loss. I did watch 40 Year Old Virgin to cheer me up after game 2, though. Anyway, yea, I don't see what the big deal is about Soriano smiling 2-3 days after the Cubs' playoff exit.
  15. Agree its not the best place to invest money, but we should really have a better option off the bench vs. RH than Ronny Cedeno (when Edmonds is playing) The bold is a situation I would hope we wouldn't find ourselves in ever again. Yes, we could use a better pinch hitting option vs RHP. No, we shouldn't replace a cheap young backup SS.
  16. Yea, I heard the part about Harden, too. LOL @ walks too many guys.
  17. I was just thinking along those lines.
  18. Eh, I mean he has a point. The durability is an obvious concern. If he's worreid about Harden being hurt all season that's fine. If he's worried about having to take extra care of a guy and skip him every now and then to keep him healthy then he's nuts. Agreed.

  21. How do you figure? DeRosa had 30 points of OPS on Roberts. Even if you factor in Roberts' stolen bases, that probably still doesn't make up the difference.
  22. Hell, I'd probably trade Geo for Hanley, too, despite how much I love Geo.
