    Derrick Rose is the real freaking deal. He was just going at it with Williams tonight. That said, he had a hard time with Williams on the other end, but who doesn't?

    I don't think a bad three games means the team folded under pressure, but that's just me. No, but when it happens two years in a row, it can't outright be dismissed. I suppose. Last year's team really wasn't that good though. maybe not that good, but they were better than the diamondbacks choke choke choke without a doubt in my mind, these last six games are folding games because of pressure Well, that settles it, then.

    Maybe I'm just being blinded by my insane hatred for Hunter Pence...I mean, I know he's 25 and has put up decent numbers over a couple of seasons..... but a package built around Hunter Pence for Jake Peavy?

    Is there some other Pence other than Hunter in the Astros system? Am I missing some obvious sarcastic joke? I thought Meph was being sarcastic, but then nilo followed with a serious response and now I'm very confused.

    thats kind of a dumb comparison really dumb no, tossing aside stats that don't support your case (under the pretense that one doesn't understand the formula) is really dumb using stats incorrectly to support your case is also really dumb (re: OPS+) even though i'm on your side of it, it was a pretty bad analogy...

    This thread is hilarious... I went from being completely dumbfounded at badnews's suggestion that NSBB had/has some kind of love affair with Josh Hamilton to total amusement with terrible, irrational arguments made against Hamilton. I do think Hamilton is a bit overrated in general...but among NSBBers? Not so much. As for the formulas for stats like VORP, they're not really available (although you could probably ask Meph to come up with something close... I remember him posting about it for some stat before), and it's a bit closed-minded, IMO, to discount the stats just because we aren't made aware of how they're calculated.

    Since when do the Yankees have much to offer in trades? Melky Cabrera and Robinson Cano aren't assets. Did their farm system suddenly get good without me noticing or something?

    That was the first season I watched the Cubs and the wild card chase that year is what got me into baseball.

    RIP http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-14-foster-cubs-chicagooct14,0,6542461.story Kinda shocked to hear it. He was my favorite pitcher on those bad mid 90s teams when I first started watching the Cubs. He was also the first guy to win a game after the 0-14 start in 97.

    They couldn't make a stop on 3rd and long (even extra long). The Falcons ate up almost the entire first half and we were lucky that they couldn't manage more than a FG on any of those drives.

    It's actually how we SHOULD have felt had their kicker not choked on an easy game winner. A lot of people forget that play even happened.
