  1. Orlando and Phoenix are pretty boring... but not cold.
  2. Adam Schein is as crazy as I am, I guess... http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9722208/Schein%27s-Nine:-Cutler-should-grin-and-bear-it-
  3. I'm obviously kidding, before any newbs try to pick apart why my "plan" is ridiculous.
  4. I could handle getting Shaq. It would leave us with a ridiculous amount of cap-room in 2010. Noah Bosh LBJ Wade Rose Sounds good to me! :-)) Let them figure out how to get the ball to everyone enough.
  5. It doesn't make him good, but nobody's arguing that - I don't think. He's a pretty average closer, no more, no less. Well first, I'm not sure what I was looking at, but I was wrong...he's 12th (out of 16) in the NL in save percentage, not 10th. And would be 12th (out of 14) in the AL as well, not 11th. Now maybe he's average in some other stats, but those are definitely below average. But stats like that are almost worthless. Before one pitch yesterday, where did he rank at 11 of 13? The sample size is essentially meaningless, not to mention the fact that the stat itself isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Anyway, closers don't need to be great pitchers. They just need to be able to get 3 outs without giving up 1-3 runs. Personally, I wish the role itself didn't even exist, but nothing's going to change about that.
  6. That sounds like an idea... Can you just make different home screens and possibly a different forum index page within that outside of the constraints of the BB itself? Like on the Bears-NSBB home page, have links to "Bears Discussions" "Other NFL Teams" and so on? You could even craft it so that it looks like it's generated by phpBB when it's really not. Not sure if what I'm trying to say makes sense... I know it's sort of a jerry rigged way of doing it, but it seems like it would work.
  7. I honestly couldn't be less interested in the Bulls' draft. Only interesting thing about it is that it might spur a trade.
  8. There is some good info and on RARE occasion good discussion, but you have to weed through a TON of crap to get to it. And most of the discussion is garbage. It's a good place to look for the latest articles, too, as there are one or two posters who are pretty on top of posting any links as they come up.
  9. Yea. Hopefully, he can still hit effectively despite the pain. Even if he can't, he still can't be worse than Blanco/Miles. We just shouldn't expect anything great.
  10. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-23-cubs-brite-chicago-jun23,0,1856003.story
  11. This is pretty much exactly how I feel. I think there's room at this site to create a football subforum with the Bears getting their own dedicated page for discussion. I lost interest at Windy City over a period of time. For me, I think a lot of it had to do with the comfort level of the settings of the forums themselves. I like the way NSBB currently flows, but never liked the way it was set up at Windy City. I'm pretty sure that was just the latest version of the software, which Tim subsequently upgraded NSBB to. So, as of now, it's pretty much the same. I think.
  12. google "chicago bears message board", click the first link that comes up. it's a nice site, active, with good links to videos. That's the terrible official Bears website message board. Just about as bad as Cubs.com was.
  13. Probably went across the road instead of down the river.
  14. Might we be interested in taking a flyer? Don't know that much about him or how he would fit into our scheme...
  15. This is pretty much exactly how I feel.
  16. With Cutler-mania and hopefully a pretty fun season coming up, I was thinking we should give windycityfootball.com another shot... maybe sort of a "re-launch" for week one or training camp or something? I'd be willing to help out. That, or it would be cool to get an NFL sub-forum on NSBB.
  17. I had no problem with signing Lilly (and I don't really remember people being against the signing in general). Marquis was the guy I didn't want any part of. I was fine with getting Meche and Lilly.
  18. I won't be helping you out there. I'm definitely going to try to make my first trip out there this year.
  19. I'm not sure what to think of this guy. He keeps doing it. Reminds me of how amazed I was every time Dempster kept going out and putting together great starts last year.
  20. It amazes me that someone under the age of 50 could live in the area and not have heard of Jay Cutler or of the acquisition while at the same time thinking he knows enough about the Bears to say he's not that excited about them this year. WTF?
  21. It's not just Marinelli on the coaching staff that could make a difference to the defense. It can't hurt to get rid of that "mug" defense crap with the linebackers and not have Babich calling the plays anymore. Plus, there's obviously a few additions/upgrades player-wise (Pisa, Gilbert...) and other guys (Tommie, Urlacher) who will hopefully be healthier/stronger.
  22. I guess this was never posted...
  23. oh eff me... can we get rid of miles already
