I'm ready for GarPax to be gone. I don't trust them to do anything at this point. Sign FA's, draft picks, hire/fire coaches...none of it. That's where it's gotta start for me. the thing is they've had some pretty good hits in the middle and back end of the draft. i know there've been some busts too but overall i can't really complain with that end of it. they did a good job putting together decent teams over the years (even the high end of that took the insane luck that got them rose), but in the nba you just aren't going to contend unless you get insanely lucky and land a real legit superstar. especially in a capped league where the best of the best are capped at way less than they deserve (not that i necessarily trust that the bulls would win an uncapped bidding war, but when miami or cleveland can offer the best player in the league the same amount we can, it's definitely not helping us). the nba/basketball sucks to build teams in. i don't even know how you fix this. tank to get what? even then you have to be lucky enough to get a top pick in a year with an actual superstar at the top of the draft. if you just get a good player there, you max out at what we've been for the past few years. you need a lebron. or you need to luck into someone becoming steph curry. without stuff like that going just right, you really aren't going to contend for a title, with the exception of what the spurs have managed to do, i guess, but even they had duncan be a big part of their run over the years. i'm not saying garpax have done an exceptionally good job and haven't fucked up a lot of stuff, i'm just not sure how you actually can set out to build an nba championship contender without having a ton of luck. feel free to pick apart my stream of consciousness ramblings/rant also, all that said, i would have no problem with a garpax firing (not that i think there's any way reinsdorf does it).
