  2. i will continue to hate rat boy, thank you
  3. I remember how sick I was of the win 3, lose 2 crap and how I just wanted us to get to five over so bad. on may 21st we hit 23-17.

  5. think this same dumb site had the schwarber injury significantly reducing their cubs playoff odds using whatever "projection system" it is that they're using. iirc by like 15-20%.
  6. yeah i had to figure that one out by eliminating what were either domes or far less boring stadiums
  7. path from home to mound was the giveaway on that one for me
  8. yep, that would be pretty awesome that was my thought/hope as well

  10. Hell, I don't follow hockey at all. All I know is that some 8 seeds seem to knock out some 1 seeds once in a while, but that's completely anecdotal and I have no clue how often that happens. When I said I wasn't sure, I meant exactly what I said.
  11. Where did I say they weren't? Well then why would you use hockey playoffs being crapshooty as an argument? It was weird. Baseball is definitely far more crapshooty than hockey, imo, because you aren't affected by pitching rotations. The Cubs might well be better. That's just not a good reason for arguing so. You misinterpreted what I said. I said I wasn't sure how crapshooty the NHL playoffs were and how that impacted the championship likelihood despite them not being as quite good as the Cubs are at their sport. I didn't use it as an argument. (Aside, pitching rotations are not really the reason the playoffs are crapshooty.)
  12. And baseball playoffs aren't crapshooty? Where did I say they weren't?
  13. Why is that? I like it when I can go to a game without missing any other games. I know that gooney hates primetime games and I'm also assuming that traveling to Tampa and it being on a weekend vs a weeknight has a lot to do with it.
  14. The Cubs are better at baseball than the Blackhawks are at hockey. Just how crapshooty the hockey playoffs might be and how that impacts championship likelihood, I'm not sure.
  15. Fair enough. I just wanted to take an opportunity to call LaRussa an idiot.
  16. It's ironic that someone who is perceived by many as being a baseball "intellectual" like LaRussa has presided over the dumbassery we've seen from the DBacks over the past couple of years. It's way more an example of public misperception than irony.

  18. to be fair, that was one post in a thread where most of them are voting that the cubs will win 100+ games True, but I can't wait to see reality dawn on the few who believe the Cubs are just going to turn back into a pumpkin. yeah...you pretty much have to be the definition of delusional to look at this roster and think that.
  19. I saw this on GRB a day or two ago, and am filing it away: A little puffed up after sweeping the worst team in baseball. to be fair, that was one post in a thread where most of them are voting that the cubs will win 100+ games
  20. i don't want any late season cruise mode (unless it's a god mode cruise mode). i want the cubs to finally deliver on zambrano's win prediction.
  21. that's what they said...that he needs to get hit more. guess they missed where he led the league in HBP last year (and TT pointed out that he is actually really good on teh inside part of the plate soooo)
  22. I'd say their garbage lineup is a bit more of a concern. For sure. Riding the best stretch in Yoenis Cespedes' career lulled them into thinking that they had a decent offense, I think. They really should have added an impact bat over the offseason. If they miss the playoffs with that rotation, it will have been a massive failure on the part of the front office. i mean, their offense in the second half was a lot more than cespedes. i still think they are a little better than mediocre and won't make the playoffs with a mid-upper 80's win total but yeah.
  23. in hysterically cowardly fashion, the bulls hold a surprise post mortem presser tonight and paxson gives forman a vote of confidence. garbage.
